why the hell at lower levels its hard to find a healer with just DD seeking, and at high levels all i see are WM seeking with no DD?? last night i seeked for party on black mage 39 for 3 hours with nothing, and when i switched i saw 3 other WM 65 seeking with no DD whatso ever.. WTF?? STILL got no party after 4 hours searching so i logged.. wtg!

From what I noticed, about 1-1.5 months ago, there was a mass influx of whm's around the 35-40 range. I was leveling War and I could count 5-10 whm's seeking per night for about 2 weeks straight. It was nuts but nice. The only problem was finding a tank. I'm thinking it was a group of newer people or people just wanting to get a job to 75 fast so whm is the easiest option besides Bard.

Peace,
Shmed

like SE is doing everything possible to keep people playing the game...
upping the drop rates, more exp, new spells, no exp loss in cop, wow wtf?

Yes, and while they made some things easier, they added a whole bunch of new content/gear that extends the game even longer for the serious players.

my opinion of course, but also wanted to ask this.. why the hell at lower levels its hard to find a healer with just DD seeking, and at high levels all i see are WM seeking with no DD?? last night i seeked for party on black mage 39 for 3 hours with nothing, and when i switched i saw 3 other WM 65 seeking with no DD whatso ever.. WTF?? STILL got no party after 4 hours searching so i logged.. wtg!

At lower levels, one cannot party without a healer and during mid-levels one cannot party without a refresher. At this stage in the game, there will always be more potential parties then there are mages. As soon as a mage seeks, he or she will be invited. The mages will level far faster than their melee counterparts.

At the end of the game, when it is possible to melee cannon for faster exp while at the same time having shadows absorb most of the damage, healers/refreshers aren't needed to the same extent. With no tank, there is no need for a dedicated healer. An RDM can haste just as well as a WHM, and given that the DD/NINs aren't going to be taking major damage by sharing hate, the lower level cure/curaga/regen spells are more than enough to take care of their healing needs.

Depending on the skills of the DDs, BRD/WHM may be able to fill the role whlie at the same time providing more benefit to party damage than a RDM or WHM ever could. Bottom line, a dedicated healer is no longer necessary for a party to exp. Therefore, so long as a RDM, BRD or even COR is seeking, a party of 4-5 melees can grab one of them and safely proceed to party without ever asking a WHM.

The same applies to a BLM. If the party can do more damage spamming multi-hit weapon skills than they could by waiting and setting up skillchains, then the value of a BLM to the party is vastly diminished. Yes, you have elemental debuffs and your regular nukes. But without the massive damage bonus you get from bursting off of a light or dark skillchain with a tier IV or -aga III spell, another melee DD or a melee enhancing job such as BRD or COR is going to be more useful in that party slot than you are.

I say this to all those jobs who excel at partying with a skillchian: Go to the other end of the mire and find the IT treants. Set up a level 3 dark skillchain and burst away to your heart's content. It's not a 20k/hr burn party, but it's solid exp and it plays to the strength of your job. Also, watching 2 2k bursts follow a 1-3k skillchain is a thing of beauty.

everything you said celvantes is true. and IMO there in lies the problem. the ToAU areas cater mostly to DD jobs that can cannon. all others are left to the wayside for the most part. lower lvls see this and jump strait to the jobs they see getting invites in the later part of the game. the way i see it ToAU has unbalenced the EXP field completly. now and then i see a traditional SC party made but the number in comparison to cannons is mute. in the past people that would complain about not getting invites at the lower lvls were the ones to lazy it make their own parties. now even people, like myself, that make the majority of their exp parties cant cause the jobs arent being lvled as diversely.

its great for the existing high lvls. but high lvls arent the only players around. if the lower lvl players cant gain lvls and join the upper ranks they will leave the game. all this endgame focus could possibly backfire for FFXI. i hope that doesnt happen cause i still like this game very much. and i dont want to see it sabotage(sp) itself.

I usually have a horrible time finding a main healer when I'm trying to set up a party. I also have just a bad time finding a tank when I finally have a healer with me. I think they should add 3 more jobs, perferibly a new tank, a possible main, if not back up, healer and probably a support of some sort.

I agree. This game has 2-3 jobs that can refresh (if you include COR), 2-3 that can main heal (if you include SMN) and an ASSLOAD of DD jobs. More jobs that could accompish these feats would definately increase the amount of experience parties 40-73+ and make getting to the mass amount of endgame content more enoyable for people that spend 1 year+ getting to 75.

dont forget. WAR was supposed to be a tank job at first. but its cappasity for being such a powerful DD has all but erased that trait. so a new tanking job would be great IMO.
