Leveling SAM now and I'll have Seigan next level. After reading a little bit in the wiki about how it works, I'd like to hear from experienced SAMs on these 2 job abilities. Level 75 SAM play is good to know, as is any information regarding the 2 abilities that may differ in the middle levels. Which to use under what circumstances, benefits, drawbacks, etc.

Your time is appreciated.^^

First voking for a thief, use seigan + third eye and switch to hasso when sata lands. Your timers are on the exact same timers as thief's sata (one minute).

If not partying with a thief and going from an existing hasso, use seigan, third eye, hasso, ws if you think your WS might make you pull hate, and you'll basically have a single blink but on a 30 second recast instead of 1 minute. Only disadvantage to this is if nobody can get hate off you afterward, you're stuck for a minute without seigan.

If you're pulling hate constantly, it might be better to "hold back" by keeping seigan up until the mob is weaker (exact probably depends on how fast your party kills).

I'm not a sam75 but i at least have some experience with the JA on my war.
I default to seigan and put 3rd eye up just before I expect to grab hate which is normally before i use a WS.
hasso is reserved for when 3rd eye falls extremely early since I might as well make the most of the time that I'm going to be unprotected. When you feel that hate or the timer is going to go back soon seigan mode again and rinse/repeat. Judging from my last merit IF the pt kills fast enough you will get just as much protection from seigan as with utsu.
If you don't trust the DD to kill the monsters fast enough or at least to be close enough to your damage to pull hate away then you're going to be better off just subbing nin.

Whenever I'm meriting I'm Sam/Nin 90% of the time so I usually just end up fulltiming Hasso since at 75 it gives very nice bonuses and Utsusemi is usually on all the time. Seigan is very good though in many cases when you have hate when shadows are down or when your something without shadows.

If I was Sam/War I would probably weaponskill in Hasso and switch to seigan and third eye right after if I pulled hate(I like to get bigger #s with my weaponskills =p).

Although seigan and third eye can't block magic it can be very good. It is very random when it comes to how many time it will evade a move and has varied from 1 time to as many as I think 12 times for me so its usually just luck on how well it performs for you.

yuh, most SAMs sub NIN to just full time Hasso. Seigan is nice for occasional in between. Something to note is Third Eye does not overwrite Utsu, and either Utsu's will overwrite Third Eye. So going Seigan - Third eye to buy yourself time to put up shadows is something I have done in the past. Just note that your casting time and recast times are longer when you have Hasso or Siegan up.

I got it and played around with it a little bit. I think the wording in the wiki was more confusing than anything or maybe it was all the crack. Seems pretty easy to use and switch between under different circumstances. Never mind, but thanks guys for the input.

I'm tanking as sam/war fulltiming seigan, at lesser colibris camps ( level synched down to lv 57) with spear: it's fucking amazing. 12k/h, who needs a real tank?

If I have a tank that holds hate I full time hasso and switch to seigan when I take hate. If the tank can't hold hate (ninja) then I full time seigan.

Nothing really to teach, as you level you'll find your own groove how they work best with each other.

Personally i hate SAM/NIN so i'm usually full timing Seigan in merit parties /WAR. leveling up you will most likely full time hasso, unless first voking or even pulling. Put up seigan when ever you pull hate and hasso back once next fight comes or you lose hate. 1 Minute timers are the best.

As its already been said, both are situational. I usually go with Hasso unless I pull hate, then I switch over to Seigan and Third Eye. One thing to note if you don't already know, Sneaky, is that Third Eye (seigan'd or not) will anticipate multi hit ws and instead of 3 anticipations its only one.
