There are a few things that annoy me lately.

1. When people announce that they're leaving party by saying, "Time to go, invite my replacement please."

2. When I inform the party that after a few hours that I have to go and they tell me to find a replacement for myself.

First off, especially if I'm the leader... nobody invites anyone into the party but me. Call me a control freak or whatever, I don't care... but if it's my party, I decide what jobs I want, what camp I want, what levels I want and anything else. When I'm leader it's my name and my responsibility to the other members that the exp is good, because when I want to start a party again I want them to be assured it will be a good party based on me being the leader.

When you want to leave the party to go watch reruns of M.A.S.H., you no longer have any say in who should be a member of the party. You're not going to be in the party, therefore the exp of the party isn't your objective when recruiting. You aren't the one who has to disband the party, therefore how long everyone has isn't your concern when you're inviting someone and dragging them out to camp. Furthermore, if these previous concepts have eluded you... you probably aren't the best person to create a balanced exp machine, therefore your choices of members are probably not desirable.

In short... don't replace yourself unless the leaders tells you to. You may offer it, but don't just do it.

And the leader... don't tell someone to replace themselves... and don't replace anyone yourself without finding how long people have. Unless someone offers, don't ask them to replace themselves. Besides it just being dumb cause they'll get whoever can come quickest, it's not really their responsibility to replace... especially if they're a hard to find job.

Furthermore, I'm not gonna replace myself on a bad party. Yet again, it's my name. I'm the one asking a person to come out and exp, and if it sucks they'll remember I'm the guy who asked them to come.

And completely off topic, but in Caed Mire... if I'm healer... keep the Imps out of silencega range. I'm not burning 10 stacks of echos on a shitty party cause you can't figure out not to fight imps on top of the WHM. It's one thing if it happens once in a while... or cause the mob shifted hate towards the backline. I'm not going to use echos cause the front line is fighting on top of me. If you die because I'm silenced... it's your fault. Echo drops are for emergencies, not for every other fight... or twice some fights.. (and don't tell me it's unpreventable.. because good tanks keep the imps away from the mages... if you're not a decent tank like that, don't go to mire.)

You have my sympathy. I do not replace myself in a party. About 99% of the time I'll give an hour's notice before I'm ready to leave, so I consider it the leader's responsibility. I don't want to be the one who drags some schmuck out to a camp and then everyone disbands twenty minutes later.

I might do a search and say so-and-so is seeking, but that's as close as I get. Again, I let the leader worry about it.

I agree with the replacing yourself without bothering to tell anyone. Someone might have to leave soon and you're fucking over your replacement. Just give some warning to the party because people might be tired and decide to leave with you.

#2 I can understand somewhat, but there have been times when I had to go after a few hours but they rest of the party still wanted to stay so I found a replacement. Most of the time after a few hours people are willing to disband the party and take a break, but occasionally there are parties that still go on.

When I have to leave and have warning I'll always announce that I have to leave and ask if I should find a replacement. I'll also ask the party who I should invite in the event there are multiple people who can fill the same role looking for a party at the time.

Edit: on top of all of that, I'd like to add people who get pissed off when you won't join their party need to delete their characters. If I don't want to join, pull the stick out of your ass and accept it.

Yeah, I've seen BRD's(only support in the party) and WHM's replace themselves with BLM's or melee's before. Only an idiot tries to fill one role with a job from another role, unfortunately there's a bunch out there.

When I self-replace, I try to get the same exact job.
I do the same thing, but at least within the same vicinity (like replacing myself as monk with a sam)

I was told to replace myself earlier today, and did. Asked a sam to come from whitegate, and once he reached qufim I would have to leave. Well he got to qufim, and I leave, (went afk about 20 mins) came back to /tell's from the SAM asking for the party. The leader never invited him, but instead invited someone else for w/e reason idk.

Way to go being a good leader.

I always ask the party leader whether I should replace myself or not. I've never gotten a "no, don't replace yourself!" ...Maybe it's just me?

When I ask, and am given the "OK" to replace myself, I ALWAYS replace myself with the same job, and I check with the party leader first about the people and job-ranges available.

Actually, I was there for this because my friend was in the pt. They invited the samurai more than once and he never accepted the invite. They eventually gave up and got someone else. Fought with five people for over half an hour.

I don't self-replace, simply because my job is typically White Mage; and I'm not going to try to stay on forever looking for another White Mage.... typically there isn't one available. So... pretty much I leave, they disband... and they get over it! :p

This could be, because I really dont know. But I tried talking to the leader and got no reply, so I asked Eckz (Ecks?) And he told me the Samurai never showed up (but was in Qufim from the time I left)

Sorry if its a misunderstanding.

what I really hate is when your PT leader and someone is leaving, and you ask everyone else how long they will play and they say for a while. So you get a replacement and the party gets rolling again, and you find out 5 minutes later somehow 2 people "have" to leave soon >.>. Now you look like a lier to that replacement for telling him "Party Long Time!"

Getting a replacement, 95% of the time, is dumb.
Replacing yourself without so much as asking, 100% of the time, is even worse.

Normally when I need to leave a PT for whatever reason, I first ask the leader if he wants to find a replacement or if he wants to leave it to me. If it is left to me, I then talk to the party about who they want before sending anyone tells. But that's just me :P
