Got my NIN to 70 now and like to break the latent for this weapon as soon as I get 72. I understand you need 500 ws points to do this.

Q: Can this be achieved by 500 x ws while solo farming? I need to farm a bit and accumulate gil so killing two birds with one stone would be nice.

Also while i'm at it..

Managed to get Unsho from ks99 and already have a Fudo

Senji/Fudo
Senji/Unsho
Senji/Unji
or..
Unji/Unsho
ftw?

Yes, you get 1 point for doing a solo weaponskill, so you can unlock it by yourself if you have a lot of free time.

I'm using Senj/fudo, but I don't have an Unji/Unsho to compare too. I believe Senj/Unsho(or Unji really) is considered better due to the speed difference, but I have no personal experience with it.

Zeo, congrats again on the Unsho. I personaly use Senj/Unji and love it. I'm not sure how much of a diffrence Unji/Unsho would do but, you can ask Raskyyyk about it when he gets back since thats the set up he uses.

Having used all of them in the past, by far my favorite combination was Senju/Unji. Senj/Fudo is really quite a strong combination, and is highly comparable to Senju/Unji (Or even Unsho, depends on you though. I personally enjoyed more of an even dex/str build into my weaponskills as ninja, so much more consistent than piling on str, and str only), You'll find the speed difference with Senju/Unji with a proper haste build to be quite nice in all reality. Sometimes though those weapons just don't suffice. Always keep some Mamushito +1's on you for any special occasion. I use to solo quite a variety of Tough-Very Tough monsters on Ninja for exp, and sometimes the off-stun just really helped. Try what you like best.
To re-iterate though, my favorite setup was by far Senju/Unji.

Now the million dollar question that I almost forgot to answer. Is Unji/Unsho better than Senju/something? The answer, is purely up to you. There are numerous parses that prove/disprove the various setups, but again, it's completely up to you. Since you mentioned that you already had an Unsho, get an Unji anyways. It may not be your ideal setup for most merit situations, but it's still extremely fun to see. Two very quick katana's with a rather nice haste build is extremely impressive to watch. There were rumors in the past that Unji combined with Unsho (being that in old lore, I believe, Unji was the son of the great Samurai Unsho) created some sort of wierd hidden latent on the weapons that increased their strength and damage. While this may be true, it equally may not be. Use what works best for you. God knows if you play Ninja as much as any other person who truly enjoyed the job (Myself, Decidence, Mattimer, to name a few) they will tell you the exact same things. Decidence has made some very useful parses on his webpage with some pretty fantastic results. He has done some pretty extensive testing on his Ninja and shows all of his research on his page. Check it out sometime.

If you've any more questions, feel free to ask.

Thank you for detailed info and thank you all else for comments.

NIN won't be my career job (BLM is) But I'd like all my 75 jobs to have decent set ups and the ability to do well in most normal situations. I already have senji and Unsho as well as Fudo. Getting Unji is a possibility though.

So colibri and spiders would do it I suppose.

send a tell to me when you're on doing this during the weekend I need some skill up for my rdm and sword

k?

But farming gil from these mobs is about as useful as farming off mandies in Gustaberg. Don't expect to make any gil in the process (I know you mentioned that in the first post...)

I did all my weaponskill points for both Savage Blade and retribution on EP crawlers in Crawler's nest. The Bees in the nest near this spot also may check as EP, so you could camp Tiphia Sting while unlocking. Remember also to take into account when you're fighting EP at lvl 75, you'll be accumulating both Beastmen and Kindred Seals.

I'm 72 doing this and am 267/500 - God, this is boring!
So far 16 kindreds and 17 beastman seals
Also .. 4,500 exp
and a moderate profit from Scorp shells and silk threads.

ty for the tip

Senj/Fudo/Unsho/Unji/Mamu+1 are all about the same when you get down to it, pick two and make sure that you mainhand the stronger of the two (jin is 3 hits mainhand, 1 hit offhand weapon) Unji is better than Unsho, I'd suggest you sell the Unsho for an Unji if you decide to mainhand the Senj. The only use for an Unsho is offhanded with an Unji main hand.

You using your NPC buddy? Equip your buddy with a weapon you can SC off of. My buddy used a polearm, I was using a Sword and we made lvl 2 SCs all the time. 3 points vs 1 point.

I remember I unlocked my latent on my sword of trails by using it tanking in my exp party 71-72 in Biibki Bay, nobody seemed to mind and a few hundred mobs later it was all ready to trade in lol.

All right, I'm gonna n00b it up and ask why not fudo mainhand? Maybe fudo/unji? Is the 3% crit rate that much better? It's only 1 base dmg more than a senji...just asking, I hit 75nin yesterday and been using fudo/fudo, and was thinking of dropping the offhand fudo for one of the lower delay katanas to see if I like it better

Yes, the reason you mainhand Senj is because of the crit rate. The 1 base damage isn't going to be noticeable, but 3% more crits would be. If you don't have a Senj, then Fudo is fine.

Because an unlocked Senjuinrikio will only give you a positive critical hit rate percentage on the hand you use it on, meaning, if it's not on your main hand, your weaponskills will not get this bonus. Senju/Fudo is not a bad choice. Basically as Stouter stated, and as I did, pick what you like best.

OK, I got 75SAM and DRK so was used to using the higher base damage weapon(Hagun being an exception), guess I got some unlocking to do :)
