Serenity/Firefly

I never really caught Firefly (TV show right?) but I caught this movie. Despite having never seen Firefly I enjoyed Serenity, I'm sure the show is pretty interesting and if I ever get the chance I'll check it out.

*Possible spoilers for FireFly and Serenity... Actually I don't think there are but I'm just covering my ass!*

Hey all!

I just thought I should write a reply to share my views on my recent discovery, so here goes *ahem*

Having never seen Firefly before the Serenity movie I was intrigued, so I bought the official box set, and I have to say:

OH MY GOD!

How could I have missed this series the first time round? How could I not know such a fantastic series even existed?! There characters are awesome and all have such great personalities that it really draws you in to the series. Captain Reynolds is fantastic as a Captain, his attitude is so funny and yet so loyal. The Space-Hooker - fantastic concept! The Sheppard is even cooler again, and a great idea as many sci-fi shows seem to bypass religion completely trying to make the show totally set in another part of the Universe, and even though Firefly is set in the far reaches of the Universe, technically it's still an extension of Earth so religion can play a big part.

River Tam - Wow, what a character! I feel so sorry for her. Poor little girl, being experimented on by the Alliance sending her into a frey of paranoid schizophrenia. You really gotta feel for her, and her brother Simon - he gave up everything to go and find his little sister because she was being ill-treated. I realise this is meant to be the "unlikely hero" character, but the relationship between the two is just so sweet.

I'm only half way through the series at the moment, but I deffinately want to see the rest! Still really annoyed I missed it the first time round, but they have deffinately made another fan! I only hope that the release of Serenity will be enough to spawn another series of Firefly because I know I'm going to be so sorry when the series ends as I know there'll be no more.

Ok, I'm out, I just felt the need to tell people this and this seemed like a good place ^^

Thanks guys!

Red Mage, I totaly understand.

I watched this show when it was on but that was I think my freshman year, when I actually cared about school! So I was like "hey I used to watch that show I remember some of it, there making a movie! It's re-released! YES!!!" I felt so bad that there wasnt more after I finished the DVD's. It is just extremely well done.

If you havent seen it. I Highly recomend you go buy the box set, It's got no stupid action figure or dumb case so it's not gonna set you back much, and I can personaly garauntee that you'll like it. I can especialy see all the anime geeks diggin it, sci-fi freeks liking it, action, drama, comedy, its seriously just too well rounded damn fox for fucking it all up.
