Why are people jacking the bloody hell out of prices? This is freaking bull.

Faerie Hairpin.. past 10 trades.. 2.1-2.3m... past 5.. 2.1-2.2m... I offer up to 2.3 and STILL no???

Hedegehog Bomb all sales around 4.1m.. I go up to 4.3m and nothing?!

These are the two items I need.. and I can only get one.. but WTF is with the price jacking? I will not pay any more for these.. they are NOT worth more than that.. Shining Cloth got jacked too.. as it stands I put jacked price sellers = gil sellers and avoid them.. may be untrue but when you jack an item that makes your PT not ge wasted.. think aboutt it next time you ask for a Raise and you better hope your name isnt listed in the "screwed over mages by pice jacking" list..

Not a rant.. serious question.. These are not "rare" anymore.. there were 4 in AH earlier... hell even Umbra ape got jacked to OVER 600k.. this is disgusting.

It wouldn't be gil sellers, since they want their stuff to sell, not have it sit on the AH to sell for more. It's people who see there's none of the item up and thinks they can squeeze more money out of people who don't have any patience. It works far too well, unfortunately, because it's done all the time.
 
I dunno who needs to be beaten more.. the sellers for jacking prices or the morons who buy them >.< 100k? fine.. thats not a big deal.. when you inflate 10% though thats bs -.-
 
Yeah, on one hand it's greed, on the other it's people who can't be bothered to wait for a reasonable price to show up. Sometimes they have too much money to care, sometimes they just don't have the time, but it's almost always because the person is too impatient to go without it until it's a decent price.
 
I inflate Lv74 rings like 100k everytime I make em =P

People pay it, and since suppliers of OIngots do the same with my materials, it all comes around.
 
I used to rant (to myself or LS mostly) about "those #$%^&*@ pricejackers", and "those #$%^&*@ undercutters" (whichever side of the barrel I was on - sometimes on same item) till I realized I was both a #$%^&*@ pricejacker and a #$%^&*@ undercutter whenever it benefitted me. When I'm at the AH I only care about myself. I'm a selfish bastard. I'll sell my stuff for as much as some idiot will pay for it, jack the price if I'm the only sale, and undercut to sell first if there's a surplus. Find a person who claims to do otherwise and I'll find you a liar. It's kind of silly bemoaning prices (even though I still do, all the time), when each of us is just as guilty of causing it. I don't know one person who prices every good in such a way as to benefit the community instead of him/herself. FFXI is pure unadulterated capitalism at it's best/worst. Survival of the fittest. I'm hardly the fittest, but by golly, I'm gonna survive, gosh darn it.
 
Yeah i saw that on the Hauby probably since i want to buy one and im at like 4.6 mil, but i was on last night and there were like 6 or so on AH with last sale at 5.1 so i thought nice maybe price will drop but then i get home and the sob is up to 5.3

why sell it if you craft only for your job? nq never got anyone kill, hq is a blessing

Hell yea, thats simple economics baby. If i have something that isnt for sale, and i plan on selling it, you better be damn sure youre gonna pay an extra amount for mine because its the only one on the AH. Its the same thing that happens to all of us and im not gonna sit back and sell my shit for face value when i know i can get a little extra out of it because someone really needs it.

I have come to cope with this fact when I am the buyer, so i sure as hell am gonna pull the same thing on the other end...
 
Yeah thats all fine and dandy when your is the only one on the market but like i said in my post theres was 6 or so haubys on AH last night, actually theres been like 3+ for the past week or so everyday, and as Shaidalyn said in her post there were 4 on AH of the item she was buying and people are still jacking prices. Which im not saying is right or wrong, making money is making money but it is a diffrent situation.

play single player rpgs. prices are fixed. there are no currency sellers. and guys can't be girls.

And exactly when did those items become "needed" to level? Need = required. They aren't required, not even really all that useful unless your PT sucks ass.
