Server Migration

A friend wanted to move his character from Ragnarok server to Hades with me. But when he called a GM to inquire about it, the GM said that he would have to wait until the next Server Migration.

Anyone have any details about this? How it works, when the next one is etc.

No info about Migration yet officially

GM said that so they can make you feel better lol

Edit: highly unlikely they will make Migration unless some server is over populated
 
well, we can try to organized thousands of FFXI player, and complains to SE, that WE WANT TO MOVE TO ANY SERVER WE WANT!!! lol they may do server mirgration lol
 
There probably wont be another server migration for a verrrry long time.
 
If only a world pass applied to pre-existing characters. But nooo, that would be too easy.
 
A little bit after the game first came out I think there was a server migration. I remember seeing something about it when I first started playing.

I don't know why people think SE should allow you to change servers. Not very many MMOs allow that to my knowledge. Even in WoW they have server migrations but that is only from specifics servers that are highly populated to designated servers.

It would be too crazy to have people changing servers all the time, you would have people scamming others to then just transfer to another server to avoid the repercussions of their actions. I know it might be the reality for all players but it would happen, some people hold back because they don't want to lose their reputation, while others do what they want no matter what.

I would say if you want to play with friends, then either have your friend join your server or you join his server. I know if a friend changed to my server I would help him out as much as I could with gil and gear. But that is just my opinion, take from it what you want.

Right, even I would be guilty of going to another server for a few days and being a total asshat to everyone, because i know i could leave afterward.

Letting people switch servers is a ridiculous idea if you think long and hard about it. Imagine the first day when people were going to all the servers one by one to find the highest price on the AH for their SH to sell. Craziness
 
Your looking at it as if you could change servers whenever. There seems to only be a server migration every so often. You arent be able to "Spam, scam and flee".
 
a sessionly one be good every 3 or 6 months

Guild Wars doesn't have any servers except for the towns, when you're in a field area one of the player's systems acts as a server like Phantasy Star Online.

Hades is a great server. I like running around on there. One of the biggest problems with letting people change servers though would be all the Bahaumuts, Sephiroths, Clouds, Klouds, Cloudstrifes, Cloudffviis, Vivis, Tifas, blah blah blah... Sure you could add a surname to it like the server name at the end, but do you really want to see NeosephirothbahumnutcloudpwnertheIX <Quetzalcoatl> by your name when you change servers.
