Server Transfer

Not that I really cared much about other servers, but can you elaborate a little more on the reasoning?

I'm at work, so can't really elaborate fully right now. Looking at the majority of our Good Times threads should give you a good idea though. Its like cheering that you won the JV Track Meet. I can give more concrete examples tonight.
Edit: The only notable contribution to the FF community as a whole coming from our server is Kisada's tests on the amount of +Fire resistance needed to bring down Tiamat's Bite attacks. Everything else that I can think of including fight strategies for almost everything has come from us watching others and trying to mimic them.

We're pretty much the JV's of the FF world...

Man I tought this was a very pimp server we were in. We have killed everything there is to kill and more. If pimpness is based off equipment then I blame our drop rates, yes quetz drop rates are messed up... somehow.

As I mentioned above though, most of our strategies have stemmed from watching others do it. Youtube is a great thing, but we can't claim credit solely for kills when we're watching others do it first.

Another edit:
Don't think of me as bashing us as a whole, I'm just being realistic when ranking our achievements with others.

It is a pimp server, we had developers who worked on World of Warcraft, Duke Nukem Forever(yeah its probably why it's late) play here long ago:ph34r:

Not to mention produce one of the best WoW guilds.

I do think you are being rather pessimistic. While I will give you credit, a majority of the so called "inteligent" posters are just rehashing what's already been discovered by others as if it's their own discovery and worse yet, as if it's the word of god handed down to them, but there are major achievements even if our own Good Times thread doesn't say so. I believe a lot of end game shells refrain from making it known what their achievements are outside of their own respective shells. Heck, if I recall correctly, Kisada once boasted of killing Tiamat a month prior to any known kill across all servers, but didn't make it known because they preferred not to brag. And when was the last time you saw a Tiamat thread? It's not like he stays up for long when he does pop. Just because it's not being said, doesn't mean it's not happening.

My observations put Quetz squarely in the "average" category, with a minor caveat that our RMT aren't as adept as some on other servers.

Tiamat kills have been happening for years, thus why its not big news. No one would brag anywhere about a Tiamat kill anymore, because it hasn't been challenging to true endgame shells for years and years.
Being the first to do something across servers is notable. Posting on this forum has nothing to do with how good/bad of a server we are. If you are in an endgame shell, you know who is killing what on our server. When people kill things on other servers, its pretty much common knowledge with so many fraps occuring. Since QCDN is selective to our server community, it is not used widely by other servers, which segragates us from the pool of community knowledge other servers have. This is why many people on these forums are null to the knowledge of players on other servers.

I think it would be more centered around the fact that Quetz is one of the least occupied servers :p

Or centered around the fact that Absolute Virtue has been defeated by NA groups a few times on other servers...Pre-ninja nerf, quite a few groups took him down. I have never seen any AV treasure on Quetz. There have been rumors of a group taking him down, but no hard evidence. No rings, no sash, no weapons, no title...No dice.

lolMap. NA Taru SAM with underleveled /WAR sub with Ninurta's Sash 4tw, oh and he has relic GK too. Check into other server news before stating things like we're slow because of overall population.

I think server population has a lot to do with how many people get far in the game, and how soon.....

With fewer people, there are fewer chances of any of it happening..... Its just common sense, shouldnt you know?

I'm not sure that's entirely something that could have changed. How many chances do you think the server had before AV was nerfed into its unkillable form now? I mean as it was, you had to go through a long process of getting low drop rates on one pop item to kill a NM for another low drop rate pop item and then repeat than process dozens of times until you get to JoL who may or may not pop AV. When it's all said and done, it'll probably be an eternity before you even see JoL let alone AV (this is before drop rate increase which happened after AV nerf). So I don't think AV is a good indicator of server status just yet.

Jamal, I guess I just don't get where you are going with your comment. Most everything besides Sea NMs are killed relatively easily and constantly so it's not as if Quetz can't compete. Our strategies aren't anything spectacular or new, but I don't see many alternatives. I'm sure there are different methods to every fight, but are they better? If there was something different someone would at least say something, but I don't see a whole lot changing not to mention the fact that mobs are static so there really isn't a need for change. And as the adage goes, "if it ain't broken, don't fix it."

I would also like to put forward the idea that perhaps it's not the server, but the mentality. I wonder if you had been on another server, perhaps you'd still be saying the same thing? I've been raised on the idea to always strive for better and that there is always someone out there better as have many around me, so I am left wondering if it's just natural for people to think that others have it better because we are raised to think that or do others actually have it better? People are never content with what they have and only is it after it's gone do they realize how much they really had.

Quality > Quantity

You could also have 3 times the amount of newbs versus legit end gamers. Our server isn't the most elight, but we're not horrible by no means. Our servers problem is that everytime someone gets a lil sand in their vagina they run off and make a whole new shell, so you end up with 2 shells of 15-20, versus one of 30-40. You don't want 10-15 english and Jap. shells in DA, you'd never get anything done. Also our server is obsessed with thinking that sky and dynamis is all there is to end game. A major factor on our server is that all the end game shell wanna be's are lead by people that can't get into Kaizen or Pers, and they should'nt be leading a Kindergarden class on a picnic, let alone end game. Seriosly, look at all the shells on our server that are "end game," 75% are lead by utter emo, egotistic bastards.

Just in the past year has another linkshell competed succesfully with Kaizen. Our server was always a weak server with one strong linkshell on it that competed with the jpn trinity. If you don't know what this means you know very little of the history of our server, let alone the progression of the game as a whole.
What brings other linkshells to better means of kills is a competition, which was not found on our server until recently. This is not the case on other servers, where there are many top-tier shells. Tiamat, until perseverance recently (meaning in the past year or so) rose as another competitive nature was either killed by Kaizen or a JPN shell depending on the time it popped. There was other ls's that killed it once, and this was the crowning achievement for them.
Yes, everything that came out 3-4 years ago can now be killed by people on our server. That is why you must look at who were the first people to do things to place precedence from one server to another.
The first ls to consistantly kill wyrms was not found on our server.
The first ls to take down vrtra was not found on our server.
The first server to have multiple ls's able to take down wyrms was not our server.
Even the first walahara turban wasn't on our server, it took reading KI to find out how to get it...
Relic weapons are a huge deal to us. Other servers you could be questioned as a viable DD because you don't have one.
Its a totally different set of logistics, and if you don't look at the big picture, you're missing out on quite a bit.

A lot of that is due to the size of the server though. Quetzalcoatl has always been one of the smaller servers, so there's been a smaller pool to draw players from for endgame. The first linkshell/server to do something might have just had a ton of people with more free time to throw at killing something; also with more people would be more chance for the competition you're attributing so highly. So when there's a lot more people who are available to work on a problem, no shit they're going to get it done first.

Being first also isn't the end-all, be-all determination of worth. Just because you're not the first ever to do something doesn't diminish the accomplishment of actually doing it. If you were trying to figure out how to kill say Tiamat when everyone else was trying to figure it out, I don't see how you can be faulted for someone else just happening on the idea before you did. The only way I could see killing something big like that as a lesser accomplishment would be if you never even tried to kill it before a confirmed strategy was made public. Being first is really just bragging rights, that's about it.
