Shomeguye... or how ever you spell his/her name

So, this had to be the most interesting evening if any.

I found the first mage in game who seems to believe opposite of what the other mages were saying in the "Melee should use powders and oils and not expect us to sneak/invis babysit them". (You will understand as you read the rest of this).

Here is the story leading up to this point. I am in Jeuno with my flag up "LFP" have my cool little xp greenlight with message and all. Not long after do I get a tell from "Shomeguye" saying that he/she is starting a party and if I would like to join. Sure why not I say.

They get the party together and dont have a plan as to where to go. Fine thats ok, it happens more often than not. We finally decide on the Quicksand Caves. Tele-Altep gets cast and we are off. I use my silent oils and prism powders as to not be a burden to anyone. Get to the caves. We buff up, I eat my food. Squid Sushi+1. Needless to say the food and the oils/powders are not cheap. I go through 3 powders and oils each plus one serving of food.

Time comes when we are about to fight and Shomeguye decides to let us know "NVM guys my friend called and he wants to do something. I figured because it was about 10pm here that they werent going to want to do anything so sorry".

They look for a replacement but not for too long and go "well no one is searching and my friend will be here in ten minutes". Everyone in the Party says fine but just so you know this really screwed over 5 people who were set to go.

Shomeguye replies sorry RL is more important to me. As it should be but real life is important to me as well. I spend the time farming money so I can buy the stuff I need to get places and the food I need in order to be viable as a melee character.

I, by then irritated, mention that if they are planning on disbanding party if they could please reimburse me for the oils and powders I used to get out there not to mention the food. Just to see what Shomeguye would say. (this is where you need to pay attention, mages, from the melee should carry powders and oils flame) He/she says its not my fault you should have asked for sneak/invis.

So I mention what about the food I used before we were going to start to fight? and the reply is Why did you use your food? I don't know about you other melee characters out there but I like to eat my food and be ready when we are set up at camp.

I then make a generously low end amount of what I spent out there (7k) I get D2d out of there along with the other melee characters and the offer to pay half back. I said dont worry about it just Blist me and I will do the same for you.

I decided to bring it to the boards just to give you all a warning. Knowing this, next time you party with this person I suggest you ask "Are we really going to party out there or do you have something better that you need to do and will be leaving for soon"? just so you don't waste the same amount of time and gil.

Well, so much for his flame on seeking parties. About asking to be reimbursed, I don't know... I, myself, would have done it, but it would seem others find that kind rude or whatever... can't really find the right word for it.

I was the Pld for that supposed party and i just wanna say sorry for disbanding and warping so fast Damiuss, Just after wasting a few Powders and using my tavanian taco for nothing i was a little pissed off about it and didnt want to sit there and get more pissed about it.

I understand about ppl having to leave in a rush due to RL (i have 2 kids and a wife)

But in this case

A) Shomeguy was leader and started the party from scratch, so my first idea was "cool a party thats gonna last 2-3 hours)

B) we Travel out there which takes time, and gil (oils, powder if you used it) and if i remember correctly at least 3 of us poped our food upon arrival)

C) Obviously we didnt even get in one battle

D) His excuse was "My Friend just called its past 10 he said earlier he didnt want to do nothing, but now he does" Ummm., Personally i love spending time with friends, family, ect. but i just made plans and Commited myself to 5 other ppl to be in a experience party for a while, if you want to go out you will have to wait a bit.

In the end does it really matter, no as everyone will forget and move on. Did it help me since i had a crappy day at work and now playing a game that gives me a stress releiver adds to my headache and short temperdness NOPE.

It was the fact at how snippy this guy/girl started getting when we said just so you know thats not cool. the funny thing about it? We weren't even being jackasses about it and the guy still got snippy lol. Good times though.

I didnt end up getting a party tonight but its cool no worries. I hope things went better for you.

Most of the mages(myself included) said that they'd be willing to give an initial sneak/invis and also cast if there's no aggro around and they're nearby. I often cast sneak/invis on someone, just to see them pop an item right before the spell goes off. If people ignore my messages in my sneak/invis macros, not my fault if they waste an item.

I know where you are coming from sorta. I have been kicked from a party along with some Jp players just cause the leader and the RDM found out their static members were on their way. It was really shitty and I hated wasteing my time and gil comeing there.

As far as oils and powders go, why not do some research and learn too make the stuff yourself. You might come out cheaper and make some money off too the side. Just a thought.

As far as your "reimbursement" goes, I have never heard of anyone doing that, and I have been in plenty of parties that had to disband once we reached our destination (and the disband was not my doing). I offered you half, cause you were getting all huffy.

My only excuse is what I told you - you should have just gotten sneaks and invis from myself and the whm. It would save you loads of money (or so it would seem) and as far as your food goes, you ate it before the whole party was even to camp.

I offered you half of the 7,500 gil amount you said, and you said I was going on your blist. To be honest, I was going to rant about this whole thing on this board as well, but it seems you beat me to it. Sorry for your loss, and for the loss of the whole party for that matter.

You're still the worst kind of person to be stuck with in the game. Especially trying to turn shit around and give everyone the "Real life > this video game and you guys suck if you don't agree" justification. That only people who are in the wrong use in the first place to make themselves feel better about fucking 5 others over.

I mean its shitty if you are in that situation when you're with the party whos member fucks you over, i know i've been there, and i've been mad pissed about it before, but shit, it happens, so get the fuck over it.. id rather fuck over five people in game who are gonna keep playing and lfp anyway then turn down a night of debauchery (sp?)...

I mean for some of you who have nothing better to do cause you don't go hang out all the time because of kids and wifey or other situations it sucks hardcore and more than a lot of people like me could understand, but i sure as hell am not gonna turn down a bunch of my friends in real life who just decided we're doin somethin than a bunch of people in a video game who are gonna keep playing anyway..

No one is saying that you have to kill your social life to play this game. Obviously RL > a game, because it's REAL LIFE. That fact, however, doesn't excuse someone to just screw other real people just because you only intereact with them in a virtual world. People with the attitude that this game doesn't matter because it's a game forget that there are people behind those character models. You probably wouldn't do that if you were face to face with people, so the excuse that it's just a game doesn't really hold up.

I've put off playing this game to go out with my family/friends before, as I'm sure that everyone else has. I, however, don't just ditch other people at the drop of a hat. I just ask them to give me an hour warning or something, so that I can get a replacement and don't piss off 5 other people because I'm selfish. I don't turn down a chance to meet with my friends, but I don't screw over people in this game just because I can't see their face.

i guess so dude. thats why i dont play this game as much anymore. im gonna quit this month, so you guys can have it. but im sayin, its a matter of how you look at the game, and how seriously you take it. i can't take this shit seriously anymore.

about half a year ago, i would be fuming about this shit. now, im kind of like, whatever man. it happens. in a game wher eyou need 6 people to level up, its kind of asking for it. you cant honestly rely on people through the internet that way.

it IS a virtual world, and thats the way you have to look at it. they arent six of your virtual friends, they are six random people that you know. so six random people < six true friends.

just a matter of opinion. im not saying people shouldnt get mad, im just sayin, it happens in a game like this. you should be willing to accept it and live with it.

As far as your food goes, you ate it before the whole party was even to camp.

Actually I assumed it was camp where we were at because if you notice by the post of the guy who was our PLD Tank he had popped his food as well. Obviously assuming we were at camp as well.

As for some of the other peoples posts here are quick recaps. In my post I stated that I agreed RL should be more important than a game. Though wasting peoples time is a RL issue as well. I don't know how you people assume that our In game characters get to where ever we are going but me? well, lets just say I dont have a way to stop time over here so yeah I use my RL time to get there. So when things like this happen my RL time is wasted.

Did I say I was angry? no, Irrate yes, angry no. I have played enough MMORPGs to know that there are real people using there real time behind the characters in game. Because of that I thank them for the time they take to party with me. In all reality there are more than enough people to party with in this game to never have to party with the same person twice in a long time.

As I stated at the end of my post, this was a warning to others about a player due to my experience with said player. Hell I will give a warning on myself. I will party with you, I will party with anyone but If you disband party once we get there without substantial warning, due to not an emergency but "just because...", this player (Damiuss) is going to bitch about losing gil and time getting there.

If I started making things up and stating things that didn't happen then I could see where I could give off an angry gamer complex type person. Instead though, I am giving a rational player who happened to get irritated warning. Take it for what you will. Twist the words how you like.

Not directed at anyone in particular, it is directed at those who read my words and add their feelings to them, in their own words, and translate them as my words or feeling and then reply to themselves. It hasn't happen to an extreme yet but, give it some time. This is the flameboard after all.

I can easily understand both arguments....

The right thing to do would be to tell the friends that you'll meet them out in an hour cuz you just got into something. Then drop a line to the party so they are aware of what's goin on (i'm sure they'll understand, and if now screw em!), pass leader and look for replacement inbtwn pulls.

Write it down and i'll sign it. It doesn't hurt to be courteous to your RL friends and random people you just met online. Whether you like it or not we are all RL people, dicks and assholes included.
