Exactly what I thought lol. I know alot of people are not really well-versed in the beast chart. Heck, a BST on my LS does not know it! (If Ewok is reading I bet he knows who.) So I felt it was worth posting.

Just thought I'd make some suggestions seeing as how I just spent a little time and have at lvl 6 every blu spell through the 3 lvl 12 ones, two of which I got at lvl 5.

First of all get pollen before anything else or asap. Not only is it a spell you can spam out of combat to skill up it will also triple how long you can keep a fight going to get the mob to launch it's TP skill.

Secondly, if you aren't already, fight the mob up to a couple hits from killing it and turn your back on it. This will allow it to continue to build tp to launch abilities, hopefully the one you want, and you can just sit there spamming pollen until your out of mp and low on hp then turn and kill it. And while some say killing it shortly after the ability increases your chances to learn I have seen no evidence of this.

Thirdly CHR seems to have a major impact on how fast you learn the abilities. I got many on the first time I saw them and almost all within the first 3 times I saw it used. I was going as blu/bst and am taru so had higher chr then the other blu's I sometimes teamed up with to learn skills and consistently I was learning them before the others and hanging arround till they learned them also. I also had equiped spells as I got them that increased my chr.

Also I would suggest subbing bst because after you hit lvl 4 or five you can start charming the peon mobs and throwing them at your target to build up it's tp without taking any damage then jumping in when the pet dies.

The biggest delay I found was not in the learning chance but in getting a mob to use the desired ability. Just be patient and wait through the several minute fights to coax them into using it and it will pay off.

Hope this helps, of coarse I may have just gotten lucky so far but I don't suspect luck would have held for a dozen spells in a row.

i've been told my one of my ls mates that the mob dosen't have to give you exp, just has to if you were in a pt or solo. so say... if a lvl40 pld was in your pt vokeing the mob while you beat on it, you would still learn the abilty.

and yes, pets seem to be your best friend. esp mnk mobs (mandies). i learned healing breeze realitly fast by just throwing countless mandies @ dhamel

I second this. If you've got BST leveled sub it to BLU when you're out trying to learn abilities. With a pet doing the dirty work you can concentrate on avoiding beastmen aggro. (happens to me all the time XD) Plus you'll build the mob's TP much faster, especially vs EP-DC mobs. Your sword kills those too quick, and punching with 1 fist for 2-3 dmg takes TOO BLOODY LONG -_- lol.

lol

I was trying to get Power Attack last night in Wron. After a few min's it used High Frequency or w/e, but since I was punching with 1 fist, I didn't care, had lots of MP for Pollen, so I could take my time.

Then a Bomb and Tainted Hound jump me from behind.

Needless to say, I died. Is Blue Mage going to outdo the Paladins and Ninjas in deaths now? :shok:

naw, but you're a jerk for letting Etdaen and Velio quit...punk LOL JK.
Im definitely going to try out the subbing BST thing though, that'll definitely help out. As far as Sandstorm goes, damn worms used it at least 4~5 times on me and only thing i gained was lowered accuracy, the assholes

BLU seems to reward the patient people.

this is why I <3 BLU. I might be annoyed with how long it takes sometimes but it always is worth it :D
