the hell's the difference between the good old fashioned signet i pick up from San d'Oria, and this "imperial signet" i've heard of?

Is there still a big rivalry between the 3 nations for control over zones? Or has the introduction of the latest expansion kind of united everyone?

ya, but a simple

is SO much easier.

I'm assuming that the 'ranks' i've read about like 'private' 'sergeant' or whatever, are the equivalent of the originals rank 1, 2, etc.

I would think roadkill's answer would actually help you the most, being that that site probably has the answer to your question as well as damn near every other question you might possibly have.

not really the ranks listed above are your assault ranks(which is new mini game alot like bcnm meets limbus with new twist. Each mission has different objectives.) Though the assault mission are separate from the actual missions of treasure expansion.

I see. So to really reap the benefits of collecting the 'sanction' points or whatever, you'd want to actively participate in this Assault quest, cause if i looked over it correctly, most of the Sanction Rewards require a decent rank. Seems pretty kool what SE has done here actually.

I don't know jack about Sanction yet... I haven't even gone to al zahbi yet =P, but it looks neat. Just think of it as a whole entirely seperate "signet" and "ranking" system, as opposed to the mainland "RANK" and "signet".

The only thing your assault rank will do for your sanction is make your sanction last longer and let you buy more Imperial Standing items(mostly useful during besieged).

The SM IS items are pretty awesome.
