While I don't have an issue with resizing my sig I do have some problems with how the sig nerf was done. Firstly why is the annoucement section only availible if you go into other forums, why doesn't it appear on the home page? Also why doesn't the announcement say something like "Important, Must Read! Your Sig will be deleted!" something to give people an idea it's important. Personally as someone who doesn't troll qcdn I don't read every thread and I just assumed it was a guidline for new people on the specs. Since I had a sig from long ago I didn't bother reading it, then yesterday my sig img and text was all replaced with a generic message that it was too big. Now I know other people whos sigs are still up and I'll give the mods the benifit of the doubt that they are doing everyone one by one and not just favoring certain people and ask why if you can modify my sig individually you cant send me a PM to warn me I'm in violation? The announcment has been up since Oct, what has the mod been doing for 4 months that a PM couldn't be sent to people?

Secondly the announcement doesn't list anything about text size, does the text in my sig count toward the overall size or is it just the image we're crying about here? Since all the text from my sig was erased with my img I'd like an answer to that. How many lines of text am I alowed to have or is it proportional to the size of my img?

This is like the city changing a parking rule and putting it on flyers that people stick on cars while they're in the grocery store (i.e. no1 reads them) then towing violators cars. There should have been PMs sent and it should have been made clear what the specification are and then you wouldn't have as much work to do by going and erasing everyone's stuff. Or perhaps the reason only a few people have had thier stuff erased was because this first wave of people was just way to get the users talking about it and spreading the word for you so you don't have to do your job which you volunteered for.

The only real claim you have is here. I don't understand why they can't just send a PM, but its probably because sigs are getting out of hand on such a massive level now. Some people get a sig, and it fits perfectly, and then they just keep adding and adding to it, until it starts getting pretty crazy.

I've had to page down as much as twice for some sigs out there, which even having to page down at all is too much.

Did you have quotes in your sig? The text size should have nothing to do with the sig itself, because the sig is limited to a size. Just by saying "all the text" you make it seem to me like you had more than one quote in your sig, which is already breaking one of the sig rules, listed here:

It is a lot easier to make an announcement for the board than it would be to send a massive PM. I don't think you realize how many people they would have to send one to. I think they did the best job they could, with making a thread in this section (which hardly anyone reads) *and* making an announcement for it.

Even though if the flyer method was the best method for a city to get out the idea of a law change, its not their fault you decided to not read it and throw it away. That falls on the fault of the person to read and be proactive, so that part only proves the point more.

How about you just read shit stickied in black at the top of the forums instead of ignoring them? Your apathy is not our problem. Your signature, however, is.

If you don't read them, thats your fault. The fact that it is an announcement in an of itself means its important. Theres not need to special titles to point that out.

1. Gotta say, we are serious about some of the sigs getting out of control.
2. As Miros already addressed this in the other sigs thread, I don't see your point here... This is not how it was planned.
3. The size is in the announcement. The size is not in the complementary Support Board topic I created to direct people to the announcement.

4. With more exposure to this topic, perhaps some good can still come out of this. We really wanted people to update their sigs without our intervention. This is why such a large stink was being raised on the support board and the announcement without any actual enforcement -- at least that was the plan.

Please change your sigs if they are too big.

Can I just ask why someone said thanks Jamal in the other thread? I have nothing to do with this raid, although months ago when I was nerfed I pointed out that many others were just as big as mine if not bigger (that's what she said).

I think Tim was calling me you cause I was pissed off that one of the mods deleted my sig and put that Nerf'd thing in there.

I was kidding, you know I love you (in a non-gay way).

Not to be a dick but your sig is over sized tyrath, I don't care i think its fine, just by the rules its to big (in total and graphic size).

On a different note though, I think all this sig complaining/nerfring is getting a little sad. I mean sure it would kinda suck if someone put a 1280x1024 wallpaper in their sig, thats a little out of hand and should get nerfed, but I haven't really seen any sigs i've seen out of hand. Of course thats completely my opinion but do we really have to be such dicks on the rules?

Eh, signatures are meant to be a picture/icon and/or a witty one-liner/quote. A lot of people on the forums recently have been making signatures that are quoting half a dozen (if not more) posts on top of having a picture, their level, and sometimes even 2-3 quotes on top of that.

I honestly don't care about how it effects page size and such, but honestly you can only throw so much stars and glitter onto a signature before it starts to simply look garishly bad.

Or the tons of animated icons? To be honest, qcdn's sig size is bigger than most forums and even with some new things in place, it still has a good size allotted. We have one of the biggest avatar sizes allowed too.

If a person has a hard time reducing the size of the signature image, there are a few ways to render the image to the appropriate guidelines without making the image look squashed. (If one likes the original size, keep a copy of that on your computer or storage device)

-Crop unnecessary excess
-Resize with locked dimensions to avoid warping effects.
-Start a new canvas with the appropriate pixel dimensions (if starting new). The boundaries are established and no worrying if the size is too big or not.
-If one plans to have more than an image in their sig, size the picture smaller so there is room to have both.
-If working with layered images (psd), play around with the layers
-Tutorials for most image/photo programs have other great tips as well.

If the above is confusing in any way, myself or anyone else familiar with image editing could probably make a simple pictorial guide if needed.

While we're on the subject of sigs, can we have multiple small images that add up to 500x200?

Ok, here's the thing though and I can understand Gen's point. She's not a frequent visitor to qcdn like a lot of us are, so the announcements are easily missed. I even raised an eyebrow when I attempted to look for them myself. I mean, it's hard to notice the announcements when the Buy Cheaper Gil ads and scrolling text up top totally overshadow them. Seems to me that the only time people ever pay attention to them is when events like this happen... Have you seen her previous signature? It was not obnoxiously ginormous and it's puzzling when a sig like Tyrath's can go unmodded and her's gets totally wiped. Her's was smaller in dimensions (from the signature line to the bottom of the last line of text) than his on a 1280 X 1024 screen.

Please don't turn this into something it isn't. I posted in the qcdn support to get answers to questions not in the flameboard to get ppl saying you should learn how to read. Why do people insist on starting fight out of nothing?

Again I will say that I don't really care about the sig or changing the size of it, never did I say you should let me have as big a sig as I want or cuss anyone for putting regulations on sig sizes. I'm just stating my reccomendations, concerns and questions.

I am commenting on the size, title, location of the announcement because it is in a hard to find spot and the recomendations I made would have made it easier to see and read. As I assume this is the board to tell the mods things that would improve ease of use that is why I posted. Of course if they want to say too bad you have to take what you get thats thier option but I find it a close minded and pointless to even have a qcdn support board.

My sig had no quotes or spoilers; it contained one img and text typed underneath listing jobs, rank, crafts, etc. I always thought that was what a sig is, like your real life signature, says who you are not some not so clever one liner or the quote of someone elses not so clever one liner. Also I noticed one other person I know who has similar stuff in thier sig also got the "nerf" which is what prompted me to ask about text. So again I will ask is that text included in the regulations on sig size or is it just refering to img size?

In regards to the PM I am asking how "nerfing" individuals sigs is less of an effort then sending all these people a generic PM saying that your sig will be erased if you don't fix it. It seems that putting a bunch on names in the address box of one PM is easier than breaking into thier user cp to place the generic message.

P.S. I also make an effort to not have my sig in every one of my posts if I post multiple times. If some people, who just have to have 12 comments per thread about what color drg af really is, would try that then people might not be complaining about sig size at all.

QCDN Fanworks Submissions is also an announcement, give me one valid reason why that is important to me and I have to read it?

You don't. You look at the title, you use that pink little thing inside your head and realize you don't care about fanworks and you move on. When you look at the thread titled Signature, you realize it might actually effect you in some way and you read it.

As for my sig, a mod OK'd mine a while ago in a PM after I reduced it down some more. If they want me to reduce it again, sure feel free to let me know.

It doesn't matter if you frequent the board or not. The point is that the post comes up in big fucking bold letters with a big exclamation point next to it. If you don't take that as being something important, then maybe it is a good idea you don't frequent the boards. If you can't take the 2 minutes it takes to read the forum rules and skim for anything important, then don't bother posting.

Thanks for making my point, the point that the title tells you whether it's important, since crap like fanworks submission is an announcment it does not go without saying that all announcements are important. As I previously said I saw the title and thought only that it was guidelines for new members and if the title had said something about sig regulation changes or inforcements I would have read it.

I didn't comment on your sig but when you say "if they want me to reduce it again, sure feel free to let me know" by that do you mean sure mod break into my user cp and delete it by way of saying you should have read the announcement? or did you want someone to send you a PM?

Brilliant.

And guess what, if a mod feels inclined to go in and remove my signature because its too big, I'm not gonna bitch about it. I'll resize it and put it back in. Jesus christ, its funny a few posts earlier you said something about making a fight out of nothing.
