I saw he was banned. I was wondering why since there's usually an explanation. I liked him and his input.

My guess is that it may have something to do with this:

Since the current signature rules seem to be looked over constantly by users, we've utilized the vB aspect of signatures to restrict certain items going into signatures.

All of the rules for the signatures have been taken off of the QCDN FAQ since when you attempt to change your signature it will give you reasons why the signature may not work.

The main difference now is you will have to use the [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] option to have an image in your signature. What this means is that if you attempt to use the [img][/img] tags then all you will get is a link to your image instead of the image put up itself.

This was brought up to the current staff and approved by Make to have go forward. While most signatures are okay, there are some who just go above and beyond a board breaking image and whatnot and now all signatures are basically going to be limited to one large picture using sigpic.

Please remember you have to upload the picture first by going to user CP -> Edit Signature and uploading from there before the sigpic tags will work!

This thread is open only for trouble-shooting and problems that are found. Anyone who tosses in a wahmbulance post will see a read only for 5 days.

Regards,

Mir

That and maybe a little bit of monthly-tri-monthly mood swing, probably, most likely, fooooo shooooo.

Considerin' he's not near as usless as a lot of people kept on around here I say bring him back. Unless his 5 day is just marked "perma-ban" because there is no "5 day ban" marker.

It says 5 day read only, so cant be that, can it? :P

July 20th was his post in S&F. So at the very most it's been 4. Unless you mean a Perma would never be used for a RO?

Under his name it says "Perma-Ban". The person I asked about it also made it seem like he was banned, not on RO access. So the only person who knows is Miros I'd imagine.

for what its worth, 1-week ban, 5 day ban, 3 day ban etc. etc. all say perma-banned as there is no temp banned status.

But there is a read-only status.

I know we can't demand answers, but can someone please clear up all the confusion please.

Skaw got worse then a read only for the little tif that happened because of a completely unknown side effect of the latest sig update that i asked Miros to put in, which by they way, has been fixed.

As far as posting the ban in C&P, that will soon be a thing of the past as far as regular users are concerned. It'll be mostly used for staff reference when its all said and done. Its a pretty tedious thing to do considering the rules we have are incredibly simple and straight forward.

So users are just going to disappear? All because it's "so tedious" to take 30 seconds to make a new thread saying they've been punished?

Insert gestapo allegation here.

I agree, you should still post what happened to a person....

Aye, I agree that a post telling us who and what happened is pretty much essential to transparent governance.

Yeah, I'm usually to not care for what mods do and how they do it, but not letting the general userbase know why a person got perma, temp, or RO'ed isn't the greatest way to keep things transparent. A simple "Hey, so and so got temp, perma, RO due to this this and that" doesnt take that long to do.

You're welcome to B&M about it all you want. You're also welcome to ask any questions like, "Where's Skaw?" or "What happened to so an so that I'm not good enough friends with to already know, but just have to fill the drama-void in my life and shove my nose everywhere that doesn't matter in the slightest?"

But yeah, go ahead and ask, and you'll get your answer. Just don't grief.

Most of the time there is a delay or no posting in C&P it goes completely unnoticed or at least doesn't generate posts. It only happened this time because it's a more well known user of the site. This is an idea that we've tossed around for a while, and haven't just jumped to like it's the cool new thing to do this week. Nobody on staff disgrees with doing away with the C&P section at this point.

It's not because it's the most tedious thing in the world and we can't be bothered to lift a finger. I mean, look, we're responding to this thread for Christ's sake. And it's really all over a sense of entitlement that every user is owed an explanation for why someone got themselves punished. Thing is, there is no real entitlement to such information. Bottom line is that so and so broke a rule. If you're not friends with so and so, but just have to know what happened, you can be resourceful and figure it out or ask someone on staff. The majority of people that use this site and aren't posting about it don't care. Take a page from their book and move on as C&P goes bye bye.

C&P is going away because those posts are just for staff use anyway, and automatically generated in a staff section for reference already. Any infractions have already been discussed and reviewed by the staff before they were issued. Much like incidents that require Human Resources' involvement at work, where the results are not broadcasted to every employee of the company, the path of C&P will mimic.

Annnd scene.

Continuation from Skaw

Because basically telling everyone to go fuck themselves and then locking the thread is awesome, fair, and mature moderation.

Who shit in the collective bowl of moderator Cheerios lately? I didn't see a whole lot of "B&M"ing. The 11 still-loyal patrons of this once useful site should have the right to know what's going on, yeah? But I guess that's beyond the spectrum of the mod-squad that doubles the population of this board and has to check and make sure the 25 posts that pop up a day are status-quo.

So when the last 6-7 or so people got put on read only/banned and no one made a post about it, what was with that? Its not something that's even sort of often checked by regular people. If you have a question as to why someone was banned feel free to ask and you'll get your answer, but i guess that goes beyond the capabilities of a user like you.

Because bringing nothing to the table and taking a shot a moderator that didn't even come close to telling people to fuck off is cool, awesome, and something i love to see.

A more kosher approach to the skaw thread

In my honest opinion C&P did help us in a few ways. One being a common knowledge about posting in regards to banned members. Whether this was an actual rule, I would hope since you are doing away with C&P then we can implement the talking shit about banned members. This being said since we have no real knowledge of communication between moderators and "banned" members then it shouldn't be an infraction correct?

Secondly, it wasn't just a communication regarding moderators to figure out infractions. Some of us used it as a basis that you weren't just banning members for shits and giggles. IMHO the C&P was used as a basis upon which people could generate a good idea as per why people were banned. Whether or not we knew the person banned, at least it gave us a commonplace of what to/not to do in regards to what was a bannable offense. Albeit you could look at the rules, but actual implimentation of the rules in action helps as well.

Thirdly, as was stated in regards to my second reason, which I would like to reiterate. It gives us a basis upon which, reasons you banned someone. Now w/o it HONESTLY you could ban someone w/o the population knowing, and 3/4 of the public wouldn't know. Baj put it best when he said "Gestapo much?" Because its the truth. Even when the court systems IRL put someone in jail, there is a database in which the person is placed in that dictates the reason of which he/she was put in jail. In the same respect even pedobears are placed in an internet database once they are released from jail. Shouldn't the same respect be placed here? Unless you all really like gestapo like activity.

Please keep this thread kosher, I'd like the thread to be up for more than 2 seconds like TWF
