defintely need widescan for this, it sucks but you do; I've claimed it rdm/bst and done fine

the G-8 is a good camp to kill at little aggro or it's very manageable

Wait for maintainance, then 21 hours after the servers get online it has a spawnwindow of 15 minutes.

Shikigami's window is actually really easy to calculate after a maintainance.

Make sure you have a ranger or beast main or sub with you for widescan.
Have sure your party is well spread over the zone and has a magic user and someone that can hold Shiki. (Basically anyone /nin should be able to with ease.)

You should be able to solo him on BLM/NIN.
Download your fucking Mammy to find him and then sleep nuke.

Ok now for a serious answer, I'm not gonna just (ass)ume that you are the best solo'er ever. I just know since you seemed to have never camped it, take some friends, have some fun with it. Everything everyone said with the Widescan, find a safe place to pull it to before window, and do work. Good Luck with it, its not so bad i went 1/4.

If he can't sleep/nuke he can look for other strategies. I got mine using a friend's RDM/NIN and your fucking Mammy. It's not very hard at all.

Depends on how many aspiring summoners are reaching those levels at one moment really.

Soloing isn't exactly the best bet.. If there are others Counter camping not only are you going to have trouble claiming most likely. But also, you can't wait for it to just run to you in the safe zone and not have to deal with all those adds. I suggest at the minimum one person /RNG or /BST. It's nice to have a job a shadow tank but PLD can work. THF/NIN tanks it well, mnk/nin really anything. After that a BRD is nice and a WHM. I've Duo'd it THF/NIN and BRD/WHM.
An Ideal setup I would say is BRD/WHM THF/NIN and WHM/BST.
There are rumors that it will link if you train weapons around, I've never seen it done and probably camped 50 of them, so I wouldn't trust that idea.

If your a healing job you can still go /RNG. I got mine trio with PLD MNK WHM and didn't have any MP problems. Just sleep any adds with repose and get the MNK to solo it.

The drop rate isn't too bad. Just keep trying and you'll get it. Good luck ^^

Depends on time of day really to, if you are camping it early in the morning less people will be there for competition. I remember camping this at 8 am and had 3 full ls's out there lol. Then just recently went out with Konzer at like 1-2 am EST and got hers with only 1 person for competition who we teamed up with in the end. Shouldnt be much competition now, most summoners have theirs. ^^ Good luck with your hunt!

After camping a lot for mine and friends of mine in the past, I can also pretty much say that theory can be thrown in the gutter.
Whoever thought of that didn't link but straightout agro'd the adds around by either sound or magic I'd assume.

But then again you could just say, if you claim him just don't run around too much.

Back when I was going after YYR, I camped Shiki after maintenance and dual boxed a friend's RNG. Lost claim.

Next window, friend was on NIN, I was on WHM, and dual boxed the RNG again. Got claim, no drop. NIN did well solo'ing. I did little.

Got drop from next window. A different friend on NIN, me still on WHM, and didn't DB RNG that time. Snuggled tightly into the corner @ F8, cast/cancel tele spells, and waited while Shiki roamed. After 3-4 minutes at camp, he showed himself. I casted haste and maybe 2 cureIII's and watched.

I don't see solo'ing be very feasible as you need to force him to appear w/ agro while avoiding agro from adds. Hats off to anyone that has done it though.

Way back when I got mine there was alot of competion for this but now not so much. I would suggest getting friends the more the better. It is not a long wait sinc ehis window is 15 minutes from the 21 hour timer. You must have widescan since he spawns untargetable and invisble.

couple hints:

he will alway sbe on the bottem of the widescan list so just look there to see if hes up.

if you have enough of a group or even an allience of folks clear out mobs it makes this easier.

use magic to aggro him just run by the area the person widescanning says hes at cast like a cure 1 with carby out and carby will grab him so you can pull his ass to a safe spot.

He is not that hard to kill its just a matter of how many friends you managed to pull while trying to aggro him.

Just remember the robe is a 50% drop rate so it shouldnt tke too long to camp him and get your robe. I wish you luck =^.^=

easy fight just make sure find a place with low agro or bring friends. also going be packed after maintenance so if you going wait till then prepare for a crapshoot (meaning bring as many friends as you can with ws).
