First off, for you smallville fans

The Complete Seventh Season should be hitting stores in September, prior to the launch of Season 8.

i cant wait

So... Season7 ended last night, but S8 will begin in September, for 22 episodes! /cheer!

info below:

UPDATED 5/15/08: It is likely that Lex will simply be "missing" as the new season begins. In his place the new character "Tess" will be looking over his assets. Producers hope to get Michael Rosenbaum back for guest shots; whether or not they will be successful at getting him remains to be seen.
- If Laura Vandervoort does not return as a series regular, it is likely that Kara will remain in the Phantom Zone until she can be rescued.
- Phil Morris may be returning as the Martian Manhunter in Season 8, and James Marsters has expressed interest in more appearances as Brainiac.

- TV Guide is reporting that, since his new pilot Austin Golden Hour did not go to series, Justin Hartley could be returning in Season 8 as Green Arrow.

UPDATED 5/14/08: TV Guide is now reporting that Allison Mack will indeed be back next year for all 22 episodes of the season.

Tom Welling, Aaron Ashmore, and Erica Durance are all returning for Season 8, and Kristin Kreuk will be back for at least a few episodes, but not all of them.

Laura Vandervoort, who was at one time considered a "lock" for next season, is conspicuously not on the Season 8 cast list...

UPDATED 5/8/08: Details on the new characters for Season 8!

UPDATED 5/1/08: Michael Rosenbaum will not be returning as a series regular for Season 8.

Two new characters have been announced for Season 8:

Doomsday: In season eight, Clark will face his ultimate challenge with the appearance of the legendary, unstoppable destroyer Doomsday, who appears on “Smallville” for the first time. As comic book fans know, Doomsday is notorious for being the only character in the DC Comics universe to have killed Superman.

Female villain: Doomsday won’t be Clark’s only nemesis in the upcoming season. The executive producers are tight-lipped about a new female villain they will be introducing, but they can say she will be familiar to many fans and will set her sights on Clark in ways Lex never could. Intelligent, brilliantly manipulative, and dangerously sinister, our gorgeous new villain has one more weapon in her arsenal: Her mutual attraction with Clark may prove to be as deadly as kryptonite for him.

i hope they can get lex back, S7 left me wondering wtf is gunna happen now that lex knows it all. . .

They need to have him become superman because the series is getting pretty tired. I mean how long is he going to live on that damn farm and not have a job?

Love Smallville!

didnt you see the last episode? Lois Lane was trying to make him apply for the job at the daily planet now that Chloe was fired, so basically they are moving toward that aspect now, which is pretty cool imo

I would've changed the theme and the name of the series 2 seasons ago to: Metropolis. That could've refreshed the series a lot more and gotten it some more ratings points. They can still do it, it's like a whole new series based on the same stuff. lol

I think making Doomsday a regular guy is going to be a horrible mistake. I love the show but I really think season 8 will be the end of the show. I think it is too soon to bring Doomsday into the picture.

UPDATED 7/2/08: TV Guide has answered several of the questions about who might be saving Clark, and some new tidbits:
- Clark's rescuers will be none other than the Justice League. Expect to see not only Justin Hartley as the Green Arrow; Alan Ritchson will be returning as Aquaman, Alaina Huffman is back as the Black Canary, and Phil Morris makes his return as John Jones, the Martian Manhunter.
- The magazine also reveals what Clark's surprise is for Lois: He's taking the job at the Daily Planet, right acros from her desk. "This season's theme is 'double identities'," executive producer Kelly Souders told TV Guide. "It's about the Superman identity emerging as Clark Kent tries to maintain a normal life — or the appearance of a normal life."
- "The cameraderie as they work side-by-side that everyone loves from the DC Comics and all the Superman lore is going to come to fruition this year," Souders continues. "The two of them are thrown together in some unfortunate situations for Clark. She becomes a little bit of an obstacle to him saving the world, when he's on a deadline."

I think this confirms this will be the last season for Smallville. Once he is Superman there is no more Smallville. Maybe a spin-off will come who knows.
