Smash Bros Brawl tournament (Underway)

My god, you act like items are the root of all sin.
As I understand it, this contest is for probably a couple 100k gil in game, or if QCDN sponsors it a contest winner banner or something.
I understand the position of tournament rules in a play for money, but when
1) Tournament rules have yet to be completely established
2) There's nothing that's materially gained or lost from this tournament
I don't think items are so bad.

tav, items WILL be in my tournament...its gonna happen, just deal with it...i am sorry but items = no skill was a total load of crap...but i am not gonna start arguing. rules to come tonight guys gimme a couple of hours i am almost done with this assignment
 
When my brothers and I play, we take all healing items out, but that's it. We usually leave everything else in.

On-topic, I'd like to sign up for the tournament. I can get my friend code when I get home from work.
 
Tav you could just make another tourney of your own, but i agree it takes little skill to use items and they pending weapon can make fights seem...cheap. Of course I feel the same way about edge guarding but that's a bit more gray.

I've played without items for so long in smash I forget they exist when I do adventure or classic mode XD.

As far as the stages go, i think maybe one of each "type" of setting would be cool, although final destination is a good neutral.
 
Items are a practice of adaptability, which in itself is a skill.

I never was a fan of items myself. I trained in ssbm without them with friends simply because it wasn't me that KO'd that guy, it was a Pokemon. Just how I feel about it. But I do try to adjust with them so I am ready for anything.
 
you didn't get pwnd...we all just stated our opinions on the matter...not everything is a fight these days
 
i wasn't talking down to you intentionally tav, ideally it'd be cool to have different types of tournaments.

A variety doesn't hurt at all I think you should start one with no items :thumbsup:

People love fighting in smash regardless signing up for more is only that much more fun
 
It's fine ill join, but stages are a totally different story FD or Battlefield all the way

i am gonna generally keep it to those two stages as well, unless the two people fighting have a mutual decision of where they want to brawl

this is more or less how I feel about brawl personally. Pokeballs and assist trophies rig it up too much, but everyone has a fair chance of getting one.
 
I think it takes a hell of alot more skill to play on WarioWare rather then FD
