Smug alert! Mac users are snobs

Yeah I know, I just don't give a shit :P I'm not gonna start a whole new thread in the FB just to tell someone to get fucked. I call people out in the same thread they decide to say something stupid.

I don't blame you.

I was joking brother. Go roll a joint and smoke, like i plan to do...

Well sure. You walk into a gay bar and it's a given you're getting laid.

It is now my God-given mission to drive your rep back to green.

lmao.

Stuff White People Like said:
It is surprising that it took all the way to #40 to call out Apple products. Initially, we were planning for an entire week on Apple products, but that would just be over kill. Plain and simple, white people don’t just like Apple, they love and need Apple to operate.
On the surface, you would ask yourself, how is that white people love a multi-billion dollar company with manufacturing plants in China, mass production, and that contributes to global pollution through the manufacture of consumer electronic devices?
Simple answer: Apple products tell the world you are creative and unique. They are an exclusive product line only used by every white college student, designer, writer, English teacher, and hipster on the planet.
You see, a long time ago Apple’s were super popular among layout artists and graphic designers. Then Apple released Final Cut Pro and became the standard for film editors. As a result, lots of creative industries used Apple computers instead of PCs. Eventually, people started making the connection, and all of a sudden all white people need to have a Mac.
When you ask white people about Mac’s they will say “oh, it’s so much better than Windows,” “it’s just easier to use,” “they are so cutting edge,” and so forth. What’s amazing is that white people NEED to meet people who use Windows to justify themselves spending an extra $500 for a pretty looking machine.
It is also important that white people are reminded of their creativity, and remember you need a Mac to creatively check email, creatively check websites, and creatively watch DVDs on planes.
White people also need iPods, iPhones, Apple TV, AirPort Express stations, and anything else that Apple will produce. Because you need to express your uniqueness by purchasing everything that a publicly traded company produces.
Apple products also come with stickers. Some people put them on their computer, some people put them on windows, but to take it to the pinnacle of whiteness, you need to put the Apple sticker in the rear window of your Prius, Jetta, BMW, Subaru 4WD Station Wagon or Audi. You then need to drive to a local coffee shop (Starbucks will do in a pinch) and set up your apple for the world to see. Thankfully, the Apple logo on the back will light up! So even in a dark place, people can see how unique and creative you (and the five other people doing the exact same thing) truly are!
Knowledge of Apple products can be useful in a number of social situations. If you see a white person with a Mac, an easy way to approach them is to say “Is that a Powerbook? What OS do you have?” They will happily start talking to you, after the requisite five minutes, you can invite them to an 80s night.

No shit.

You know...a forum poster of your calibur really should be an admin. But then again, I'm not an admin, so w/e.

You seem far to angry to be a pot head. You should smoke more.

See, you also gotta take into consideration the fact that I'm a big metalhead, and a very opinionated person.

I have a "Gumby" sticker on my OLD piece-of-shit IBM 600x Xubuntu laptop (that no longer works; I'm pissed that I can't get the sticker off).

On the right side of my Dell 1501, is this abomination:

On the left side, is this, which I specifically placed to keep as far from Vista as possible:

fucking assholes, now I know what a clutch is ><

I didn't know what it was either, I was guessing some sexual innuenco, then a man purse.

On a serious note, I'm considering buying something to store portable music and I was thinking an Ipod would be good but apparently they're not?

What are good choices/alternatives since I'm not too computer savvy...

just something to store music and listen too it, not much else I need except a cable to hook up to the internet and dl songs.

I believe Zune was mentioned. iPods don't seem to last very long. My sister's broke after less than a year of use and my broke around 1 year of use as well. If Zune lasts longer, I'll buy one.

iPods are good equipment, don't get me wrong. The only one I have problem with is the iPod Touch; which you can't change the battery in (much like the iPhone).

I recommend any of the SanDisk, Creative, or even the Zune as (Zune being the most expensive) alternatives to the iPod.

SanDisk are good, and a cheaper alternative. I had one for awhile until it got lost in a move *tear* and I really liked it. I even dropped it in the toilet once(while it was on) and after it dried it still worked just fine. I can't give any first hand experience with Zune but I know M$ and I suspect they are probably the best, most durable, easy to use, most space etc, but probably a little more expensive than SanDisk, and a little cheaper than an ipod. Just, don't get an ipod.

Complete derail/tangent, but honestly if the OP comes down on me for that then I need to go commit myself to a ward.

My Sansa just started having problems, now I'm in the market for a new one... and I don't see any player that suits the bill.

Needs:
  • Flash-based storage (preferably 8gb)
  • Fixed button interface (touch screen optional, but must have buttons as well)
  • Support for FLAC format
Seems pretty simple doesn't it? Well, Zunes don't support FLAC. Sansa's don't support FLAC. Zen's don't support FLAC. Cowon's don't have fixed buttons, and the ones that do are 2-4gb (save for the i7 - the fixed buttons are not nearly robust enough). I'm probably gonna buckle and get the Cowon D2, but the GUI sounds pretty lame... takes 3 clicks just to fast forward a song.

I've always used Windows.... its just comfortable?

on the other hand....

you'll get my iPod when you pry it from my cold dead hand.

I have to agree. I've had my pod for a couple of years now and its never failed me.

I would recommend against creative MP3 players. When my sister and I both owned creative players, there was a few well known manufacturing defects in all of the players. Literally the only thing to do was to open it up and re-solder some points on the circuit board; which completely voids your warranty in case anything else goes wrong. Something did go wrong with mine, as the hard drive crashed about 15 months after I bought it. It was out of warranty, and I'd voided it anyways fixing their shitty manufacturing, so I was pretty much screwed.

After my Creative broke about 2 years ago, I bought a ipod Nano and haven't had a single problem. I got an ipod Video a year ago and I've had the same results. Hell, everyone in my family has at least 1 ipod(my mom tops the list with 3) and we've never had anything even remotely negative happen with them. The ipods will cost more(about the same as a zune, really), but they're easily worth it for their reliability; plus they easily have the best software.

My love for the ipod aside, Mac's suck.

Edit: thought this comic is appropriate:

...and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. The main problem I have with Microsoft is their business practices. Mostly, they make a fine product (Vista and WinME notwithstanding), and they sure can make a sexy GUI.

On the flipside, the problem I have with some Linux Users and about 98% of Mac Users is their conversion tactics: they ridicule Windows, the machines it runs on, and the users who are comfortable in using them, trying to make them "want to use a Mac because it'll make you cool!"

When truly, it's about what makes you comfortable. If you're interested in another operating system, by all means, check them all out.

I'll shamelessly plug Linux and Ubuntu in particular because of one key idea:

It's free. Free as in beer.

That said, :-)
