SEASIDE HEIGHTS, N.J. – Here's the situation: Nicole Polizzi, better known to the world as Snooki from the MTV show "Jersey Shore," faces charges of being criminally annoying.

But unlike the popular reality show, her scheduled court appearance Wednesday will be 100 percent real. She faces disorderly conduct charges of being a public nuisance and annoying others on the Seaside Heights beach in late July.

Polizzi's attorney has entered not guilty pleas on her behalf.

"Jersey Shore" chronicles the carryings-on of a group of hard-partying, 20-something Italian-Americans at a beach house on the Seaside Heights boardwalk.

It has offended Italian-American groups but remains one of MTV's highest-rated shows. The reality show is on its third season.

My take: Appropriate. Take all these scripted-reality "stars" (cheap labor to avoid hiring real actors/actresses to do a real TV show) and put 'em all in jail, so I don't have to accidentally see them as i'm scanning my channels.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, N.J. – Calling her "a Lindsay Lohan wannabe," a judge has fined "Jersey Shore" star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi $500 and ordered her to perform community service after she pleaded guilty to disturbing others on a New Jersey beach in July.

Her lawyer said Wednesday that Polizzi was under the influence of alcohol when she stumbled around the beach in Seaside Heights, using loud language that disturbed other beachgoers.

Polizzi apologized to police and anyone else she bothered, claiming her behavior was not scripted as part of the show, even though cameras were rolling.

Municipal Court Judge Damian G. Murray gave her credit for one day of community service that she spent caring for abused and neglected animals at a zoo Sunday.
