So about that Assassin's Creed...

I have issues with getting my hopes up, especially when a game has been pushed back this many times to come out and not deliver 100%. Happens time and time again, and I keep falling for it. Don't get me wrong, it's fun, but not worth the hype and the $60. IGN was right on this one...

Despite not being the second coming of Jesus, this game is actually

This pretty much sums the game up for me. It looks really good, but the "out of memory" sequences are ugly, and i haven't found the game to be even some-what challenging. The only time i have died so far is from jumping off of things to test how far i could fall and still live.

I had my hopes way too high for FFXII. I was disappointed how they did character developement in that game. I thought it was weak compared to the last few titles in terms of characters. I loved Balthier, but it didnt save it for me.

As far as Assassin's Creed. I think it plays and acts just like the Trailers showed. They really didnt promise nothing that isn't in the game. From what I saw of the trailers. It showed story clips (which they have in the game). They showed us gorgeous cities (which they have in the game). It showed assassinations and a pretty weak AI overall (which they have in the game). It has met all my expectations. I love the story. It's pretty unique to me and I believe it's setting up a cool overall story in the long run.

Well so far playing this game, I'm really enjoying it. The graphics and game play are amazing, and the story line is developing really well.

I have a few annoyances with it though. From time to time the game will become realllly laggy, a few times after an interrogation, the game didn't freeze, but I was left frozen in place, to not reveal any spoilers, I didn't "finish" the interrogation, I just stood there. And of course, I have fallen through the world multiple times.

Other than that best game I've played so far, save GH3.

Ahhh, glad to see I'm not the only one with a few issues with the game. I had a few freeze game experiences, a couple of times my character got stuck in something. And one time all the horses in the game were twisted the the back end normal and the front end twisted to the sides (that one was really weird).

But, beyond a couple of issues, the game overall does well. My only guess is that they didn't troubleshoot enough because they knew they kept delaying the game; maybe there will be a patch online soon to fix that.

Try turning off your info bar. I hear that people without it on aren't getting the freezing. (Myself included.) I played through the entire game and the only technical problem I had was a shitty frame rate in one specific part where I wasn't fighting anyway. (Right before the final battle.)

Also: World class assassin who can't swim. Let's get real.

umm, it's the 1100s or so, swimming isn't quite a standard :P there's a reason one of the punishments back then was being drowned. Come now, LEARN HISTORY!

And I've only had freezing problems if I leave my system on for ages on end (and it was kinda sitting next to the heater, ya.. bad idea :P)

They tied rocks to people to drown them, because everyone, even people in the 1100's can FLOAT. It's stupid to think that a highly trained assassin who runs around the rooftops like a monkey was never taught how to swim.

From what I'm hearing, the game is fun, just very, very, very repetitious and that it really does fall short of their claims of "kill them how you want them" when you do the exact same things to get information and kill them in the same way. Hitman had much more versatility in the killing department.

I love hopping from building to building. I could free run/leap/climb in this game for hours.

The AI is pretty retarded. The hiding, while appreciated, is way too easy. "Oh look, some hay. Now I'm invisible." The pick-pocketing, too. They notice something is missing, and you just stand there, looking away. Kinda dumb.

The whole "sci-fi real life" part kills the story for me. I was hoping for an ancient adventure, not Total Recall. (I know its not technically the same thing, but its equally lame.)

And the swimming thing, while "historically accurate," is stupid. These assassins jump around like Spiderman, but they can't swim? Lame.

lol I enjoy the game too, but damn the guards can be just as good as the "highly trained assassin" at jumping buildings.

err, just cause they can float doesn't mean they knew how to swim, even so, chances are when people back then get that deep in the water they'll start thrashing because it's scary to them and they'll drown anyways from their thrashing. Swimming STILL wasn't mainstream until the 20th Century (or maybe it was 19th.. I forget.. but it was fairly recently compared to the Crusades). Even an Assassin might not know how to swim, hehe.

Then he's a pretty shitty assassin. It might not have been "mainstream" as in everyone could do it but the military and fishermen(along with other professions) have always been taught how to swim, otherwise they either couldn't do their jobs or they'd be pretty hindered.

Logically It's stupid that he can't swim. I know that they just didn't want to program that in there, but trying to rationalize why he couldn't swim other than the developers just didn't put it in is foolish.

Swimming is a non-issue for me. It's just something to bitch about for the sake of bitching. Avoiding falling into water makes the game more fun and there's no point at which you need to swim to get somewhere. In fact my favorite part is the docks, where you have to jump from boat to boat and wooden log to wooden log. If he could swim, the game would actually be less fun.

The story by the way, is interesting. You will trudge through the repetition, and get some enjoyment of refining your skills for the good plot. The end of the game is also pretty fresh, as it starts to break out of the routine.

Just beat it, pretty amazing game. Repetition? sure, but no different than the repetitiveness of say an fps. Gotta say one of the coolest things is the free running and climbing all the shit, especially climbing the huge ass tower in jerusalem and then leap of faithing off. By the end to some of the larger fights are bad ass, and the sneaking around in abstergo.

Spoiler:
Is there any point to the end other than the fact you can replay previous missions? Like are you suppose to decipher something from all the blood and shit on the wall or do some hacking so you can learn more shit, or once you go through the credits is that it?

Def a good game, but def a renter. Fun, but IMO not worth spending 60 bucks on it. Great one time play through but once you learn all the story plots and such i couldn't really see myself playing it again or going back to get all the flags. Def worth the one play through though.

I like the game. Doesn't bother me at all that its repetitive. Just means more killing :P

Most games are extremely repetitive imo. FFXI is the same thing over an over again, WoW is the same thing over and over again, FPS's are the same thing over and over again. The only difference is that you have more versatility in the repeats. Example: Dynamis, Salvage, Limbus etc. are all repetative, but you don't have to do the same thing every event.

Well crap. I wasn't able to finish before Mass Effect got here. Oh well, it'll be a couple weeks now til I know what happens in the end!

Love the game, i can spend hours running around on rooftops with the shortblade ganking archers. I'm only on part 3 too.

The ending of the Assassin part was pretty predictable, but decent. The ending of the Present-Desmond part was stupid. While originally planning on keeping this game, I think I am trading this in soon lol

I was thinking this game would let me trade-in godfather and take over as my "wreak havoc" game to mindlessly kill bystanders and flee the police. But I'll probably stick with Godfather and trade this in instead, after I give one of my curious roommate's a chance for a play through.
