I enjoy the game, the same old FF online feel which is nice. I had the graphics up at the default from install and man it ran like shit. So I lowered them down and the game looked like FFXI back at launch at that point. It still lags slightly. I've moved it back to like 8/10 and haven't logged on to check, but hoping that it's a nice medium between lag and graphics. I don't know how I'm having this problem though. My computer has 6 gigs ram, it's less then 2 years old, I have an HD visual card that plays blue-ray. I'm at a loss because I've run Aion, blue ray DVD's, blue ray quality files, WOW, and other games on my computer at the highest graphic rate without any problems. I can post the specifics when I get home from work later. I'm just curious if anyone knows of any solutions for this. Essentially, everything runs perfect and extremely fast up through character selection. Then when loading into the city, it turns to shit with the better graphics.

Gotta say, with graphics maxed out everything looks beautiful once it loaded up. Granted I had enough time to cook a turkey by then, but still, y'know lol Thanks for any help offered guys! I don't say it enough, but I appreciate it!

FFXI just runs like shit by nature. 30 FPS hard cap and all that.

Though if you're running exceptionally poorly, it might be a driver issue. Anything more specific about your video card than "it plays Blu-Ray"?

Edit: Whup, didn't notice the forum heading on this post lol.

The first part of the answer stands though. FFXIV runs like shit by nature; optimization is a dirty to word to SE apparently. I'm contemplating upgrading to a HD6950 soon, since my HD5770 can't run it as well as I'd like.

Then again, not like I'm really playing XIV at the moment anyway.

lol I will post the specifics when I get home from work. My driver's are all up to date though. The "will it work" tester program said my computer was fine for FFXIV as well. Anyhow, I dunno my specifics from work. I'll put it all up when I get home.

Make sure you have ambient occlusion turned off on your FFXIV config! That can cause problems for even the best of computers.

XIV doesn't really have lag issues that I know of. If it is, it could be a problem of overheating or your internet that I know of. I hope you can get it working though, I'm no expert on computer stuff at all ^^ Lowering your graphics helps a lot, too. (I think 5-6 still looks really awesome for XIV, but won't but much strain on ya! And I turn background to 2)
