Him and I are friends irl, as many of you already know. We can't seem to see eye to eye on this subject no matter how hard we try. He thinks I'm being a silly conformist, I think he's being irrational and unreasonable.

So some people made a site that was an exact copy of qcdn with a slightly different name because we don't have that rediculous flameboard anymore.

Afull 1/3 of the topics on the 1st page of there new Flameboard are direct flames on qcdn and it's members.

Do people feel the overwhelming urge to cry about their negative feelings toward other players so much that they will go through the trouble of making an entire new site for just 1 part of the board?

Why didn't they just call it qcdnemo.org

This is a message board for FFXI players. This is not a message board for people that don't know how to be civil and talk to others as though they are a human being.

I say if they want to start the community split, we should wrap it up by not allowing members of their board to post here anymore. They want the precious lolcontent from the flameboard so bad, I say let em have and let em stay away.

The excuse given by so many of the users is "He said if we don't like it, go somewhere else." yeah, maybe you should. Maybe you should stay once you get there.

People like to bitch let them take it elsewhere not like they want to change right?

Those who did stayed, its the person's choice why force QCDN members to boycott a site just because some people are mature enough to hold their own tears in and take it like a man (or woman<3).

There are a bunch of bullcrap sites out there but they aren't taken down, let that one be the same and let them stew in their own muck.

I find that other site funny as a old QCDN mod was insulting QCDN on it not nameing names *coughsmalltaruclothcraftwhoisnowgonecough* but how it lacks a resson of being

personal attacks on the flameboard! zemg!z

The flameboard there sounds more like a livejournal group. Maybe they should've just saved bandwidth and actually made one.

"This guy doesn't like me ingame, what an asshole. :("

Theres MySpace and LiveJournal entries less emo than that.

Way to oversimplify my argument :P

Here's the deal from my perspective; As i see it any moron can tell you the act of being a moron on any given subject is justified for whatever reasons they did it. That being said dragging out the 'community division' excuse is about as emo as it gets. QCDN is the standard, that's a given, but by no means do i see that as a reason for it to be the ONLY place you folks should be able to go to opine about ... whatever. A brief history of sociology can tell you that people concentrated in mass numbers in an area/situation/about a subject breed people who feel compelled to act irrationally about said subject/area/situation, there's no denying it. It's the nature of the beast, right or wrong.

In the past 12hrs i count 9 threads in violation of the vaguely set community standards which weren't in any way set by the community, while i might personally support the changes made there's not much arguing the fact.

Personally what i see around here lately is exactly what people said would happen, the negativity is indeed infecting other parts of the boards either because moderators do not have time to babysit the more negative among the community in the way that the FB did or they simply don't care to, i can't much blame them.

While i do entirely see where trip is coming from i can dig the idea of not wanting to be censored based on vague guidelines that don't hold true to everyone in the community, thus cannot be an enforcable community standard. However that's simply my take on it. Claiming that this divides a community is the same as claiming those that do not patronize this site are doing the same thing.

You are comparing the internet beast to the face to face beast. 2 comletely differnt creatures. The lack of face to face interaction and the ability to remove irrational people from the herd with the click of a button changes a great many things. If the beast knows you can remove his voice from the crowd and that you are willing to do such a thing, he'll shut his mouth and act like a real person.

There is not anything emo about not appreciating the division of the community. You just can't appreciate it because you play lolWoW. You can only be in one guild at a time in WoW. That strengthens the community. While the linkshell system weakens it by allowing shell hoppers to have more than one place to go and get help for things that require multiple people.

In the past 12hrs i count 9 threads in violation of the vaguely set community standards which weren't in any way set by the community, while i might personally support the changes made there's not much arguing the fact.

If you don't like it and think it is against the rules, report them. The mods are there for a reason.

It was always there, but it was [read: is] nothing in comparrison to what we used to see on the flameboard. At least people actually post in other places now instead of jst logging in to see who they had to defend there girlfriends honor against today.

While i do entirely see where trip is coming from i can dig the idea of not wanting to be censored based on vague guidelines that don't hold true to everyone in the community, thus cannot be an enforcable community standard. Does everyone that owns an illegal weapon go to jail? No. There are too many such people to keep track of in comparison to the number of law enforcement officers. Much like there are too many posts too keep track of in comparrison to the number of Mods. That is why the report button is there. If you see a post that breaks a rule, but makes a good point, don't report it. If you see a post that breaks a rule and is totally assanine about it, report it.

It's totally up to you wether or not you use that button. It's totally up to you wether to use it or not. I'd say the amount of trash they sift through from incoming reports refering to blazn's bad grammer alone is a heavy work load. What you see as favoritism, I see as not being able to police the world.

A perfect example is this topic. A nice inconspicuous looking title in GD... Mods aren't expecting this sort of discussion from this title. Untill I get reported for making this topic (which could easily turn into a flame), or a mod takes notice of an insane reply count, they have no reason to lock it.

If it gets out of hand, or someone wants to reprimand me for putting this out there because it's about qcnn, oh well, I'm a big boy, I can handle a week long qcdn Ban.

Tell ya one thing, I won't be posting on qcnn in the meantime.

Oh no. Unhappy thoughts at QCDN. Gas him.
I'll buy lunch.

the way I see it, the other site is an independant flameboard.

I Loled.

So let me get this straight.. People want to speak their mind... People want to laugh. Apparently this is bad. Wanting to Be able to say the word F*ck, D*mn, Sh*t, etc without being censored is bad. Having a place to just say F*ck!!!! is bad?

So Mr. Trippy tell me, have you ever in your real life ever just wanted to scream? Let's say you work for an insurance agency, and you are a customer service rep. so you are taking phone calls the whole time you are at work. And anyone who works with the public can tell you there are a lot of stupid people who are going to ask you a lot of stupid questions during the day. And believe me it gets you to the point where you just want to tell them to shut the f*ck up and actually take the time to read the f*cking pamplett that they were given. They will ask you questions covered on cover of the pamplett. They will ask you if your life insurance company offers life insurance. By the end of the day you need somewhere to just go say "Holy f*ck people are stupid" and you want to do it where someone will understand where you're coming from, and one of the best chances for that are on a board that has people from all walks of life where there will almost always be someone who has been throught a similar situation that day.

If you don't get the insurance company situation then say you're a bag boy at a grocery store <this probably applies to more of the people here> and some guy in his 40's or so comes up andasked you what isle the sugar is on, when in fact there are HUGE signs that say SUGAR on all on this isle, and there is a full end-cap of sugar beside him. You just want to look at him and say "Are you f*cking retarded?" Yet you can't. So you just have to hold that inside of you and it will probably happen 4-5 more times that same day and every other day you work at that grocery store. You get home and you need somewhere to just say "F*cking sh*t I have stupid people!!!!!"

There is currently no place to house topics like either one of the above scenerios, not even in off topic because your topic would get deleted for the use of "Bad" words.

You see your post is either censored or completely deleted and it makes you feel that much worse, not just because you broke the rules and got away with it, but also because you read both threads that were around your thread and you see the same usage of the vulgar words by other members, most of them wich have higher post counts then you, yet they get away with it. It's not right.

Favoritism isn't helping someone out, it's sheltering them from the rest of the world, giving them what they want just because you like them. In a public forum it is expected to happen, but it shouldn't happen.

Say some new user comes in and reads a post by blazn, they cannot understand it so they reply to it with "Blazn, what the F*ck are you trying to say?? Please learn your GD english before posting you f*cktard." Most likely they will be put on RoA or even banned.
now
You have someone high up and respected say Decidence <just using an example> who says the exact same thing after the first post was deleted, will he be put on RoA or banned or even censored, chances are very high that nothing at all will happen to his post, while those posts around his that include these "vulgar" words are deleteld, Censored, or put on RoA.

Now tell me trippy is it such a sin to want to be able to speak what you think without having a ban hammer on you because you are newer to the site then some other person who can say what ever he/she wants to just because they have been here longer?

In all honesty these boards do have grea tinformation on them. But the number of the rules broken isn't going down at all, it's just those who aren't well known or those who aren't liked a whole lot by the QCDN community whose posts are being "fixed" while those "high-up" do the same "sin" and get away scoth free?

One liners from qcnn regulars ftw.

Pefect example of unwelcome, pointless, pc+1 content.

I have always had respect for you man.

But be honest.

Alot of people just want somewhere to go to rant, shout and swear, get it all off their chests, sure, profanity is just a word, but it has become such a reflex that there are no worther words to express the same ammount of anguish as "I am really F**ked off!"

There is nowhere here to say that any more.

So QCNN pops up, it has the flameboard, which alot of people do miss. If something you missed with a passion popped up, would you not take full advantage of the oppertunity when it is easily in your grasp?

Blaze covered it nicely, QCNN is a place where you can get it all off your chest to a non biased collective of people, agree or not, solong as it is on the flameboard it is Ok to do, solong as it stays there.

I dunno, is it bad I post on both forums and maintain a neutral sentiment about the two? I like the community feeling of this site, but hate the censorship. I love the freedom of the other site, but it is seveerly under used.

The way I see it, QCNN is not a good thing, nor is it a bad thing. it is, a thing. If you don't like it, fair enough, noone is making you use it.

Blocking access to a site for people because they have a different opinion would kill QCDN. I don't care what they are doing over at QCNN. There's a million forum's on the internet, why does 1 more bother you? People will always piss and moan about something, so it's nice that people here if they feel the need to flame someone have an outlet to do so.

I fail to see how that matters. I don't wanna hear some profanity laced crap post because you had a bad RL day. That's what blogs are for.

It's a public forum, there will always be crap you don't want to read, sift through it like the other countless threads you sift through on here.

Or better yet, I won't have to because it isn't allowed. Maybe Sculli should make a "Useless Turd" forum that only members can access and you can post whatever you want that isn't a flame.

Even if he did, it still wouldn't get rid of favoritism.
