I'm curious about soloing at the higher levels, such as 70-75. I solo'd my Summoner thru most of 30-65, but PT'd till 70. What are some good solo spots for Summoners, other then right outside Al Zalbi?

Are there higher level bombs to kite that aren't surrounded by tons of true sight mobs?

Is Sea a good place to go at level 70?

I honestly woulden't mind soloing to 75.
Parties as Summoner is fun unless the people in the PT are idiots who seem to think I have Cure 4 and Erase. >.> And those come in groups lately.

I hit lvl 70 before ToAU and WoTG was released. I'd say the best place you can solo or duo for good EXP is in Uleguerand Range using Carbuncle to fight the Aglooliks. These mobs pop generally around the map area where Jormungand pops (but you won't be encountering Jormy though) and the ice lake if I'm not mistaken. I don't know the exact map position. You basically just use Carby to fight them and stand back and let the mob explode or recast Carby when it kills him kinda like soloing the bombs in Ifirit's Cauldron. Make sure you have plenty of kiting room, keep buffs up and bring refresh drinks. I went from SMN 70-73 ish here.

Another option is campaign of course but this is the only other place I could remember before the other expansions. Also if you're soloing, keep your flag and see if ya get something while you're there.

Sea is ok, but you will have problems at lower levels with your Bloodpacts hitting fish. XP dies down around 72-73 when the Fish move from VT to T.

In Ulegarand, you can solo bombs ad nauseum with Carby, but the XP is spotty and it takes a LONG time to get up there.

SMN soloing is painful 70+ unfortunately.

After reading some more stuff, on Alla and wiki, you can actually do the snolls I mentioned from 65-75 for pretty decent EXP. They are at the top of the mountain in Uleguerand Range.

You can try imps at the Ceadrava Mire. There are 5 camps you can try. 2 are at the Azop something staging point. If that first spot is open when you zone out the gate you're good. If you can make it to J-8 that's a good spot too. There is also the camp in the back where there is a pit it's off the right of your map I don't know the position but still it's a good spot.

Now for the last 2 spots...

If you know your way around Nyzul portals, you can take the Nyzul Portal go to the NE portal and then port, then you will be in the Salvage area run to your left then port. You will then be at Ceadrava Mire Exit #1. Run straight ahead and run outside. Now there sometimes is a party there, but if there isn't this is a really good camp if you are smart. I'd bring some pebbles if I where you because soulflayers, aggro Job abilities and magic of course. so if you sic carby on an imp and the soulflayer is close prepare to zone:biggrin:

the second camp is not very easy to get to ... to be honest, it's a death trap. (I'm not kidding)

So try to focus on that first camp.

Make sure you are buffed up really well (stoneskin etc) and bring at least 3 stacks of echo drops if you plan on being out there a while. Bring re raise, and cookies and perhaps a 3-4 mp drinks just to be safe and i hope you have carby mitts ;)

If I'm on and you need a little guide personally I will gladly come out and give you a helping hand on my smn to help you along the way.

My name is Meikolia in case you were a bit confused

Thanks everyone for your input. :D I remember duoing with a Summoner at 70ish on Imps when I was meriting BLM. Are Imps good for, lets say, Duo with SMN + RDM?

Yum Yum Input. :D

Pretty much any combo would work. Garuda does so much damage with claws that it takes 2 hits and its' done. I do think a smn and rdm combo would be awesome. 2 smns is great also.

I personally prefer soloing Bombs in U range. The walk might be a bitch but exp is nice, sweet, and a lot less annoying then Imps. Shame such a great solo spot is in bumblefuck nowhere.

I second this, however this spot is most definitly worth staying up a few days at a time.
Bring a signet staff, a linkshell to talk to folks and a ton of free time.
I did that camp from 66 to 75 and well worth a couple of merits.

I never was much of a solo smn, I didn't party much but I campaigned a lot

I liked Imps, if you're good with keeping distance then you should be able to avoid the silence and amnesia but like the above says kiting space is really limited so it'd be better to camp at gate and work on the nearby imps from there.

Also I'd recommend Levy > Ifrit on imps(if you're acc is capped or above capped then use ifrit) since they don't recieve the effects of amnesia.

Mire is really a duo/trio spot with other smns or bsts to get it really cracking I did this with Tone and Cregue for some nice exp send them a tell ingame asking about it I'm sure they wouldn't mind.

Use leviathan over Ifrit always when fighting anything higher then even match.
Even with capped accuracy merits and a rediculous amount of skill over cap Ifrit's Blood pact accuracy on anything higher then even match is more random then Blade: Jin.

I got used to using Garuda just due to the damage but Levi's cool too:wink:

IMO
Smn solo > Bombs in U range
Smn Duo/trio/more > Imps

I tried soloing Imps and it seems like way too much work. Either Bombs or Campaign are best for Solo. I did like a 30 min Campaign on Smn and I ended up with 4k exp(Well, like 3,700 or so). I may tend to prefer solo just cause finding a partner that isn't retarded is hard.

oh yeah nothing wrong with it on a fresh mob, but if you can't run away for recasting then yeah;)

lol, I dont think I can do that. I'll fall asleep or something after like 2hrs because its the same mob over and over. I wan't to try though :O, I need conquest points.

:coffee: and occasional breaks my friend.
You need those breaks although I personally find merit parties more sleep inducing then soloing as soling actually requires you to pay a bit more attention then a merit party.

Aglooliks are fun, but even more sinister are the Volcanic Bombs in ifrit's cauldron down by Ash Dragon. Both are dangerous, but I'd say Ifrit's is the most dangerous.
