Im looking to replace a part on a car and can't seem to find anywhere, Now if you were to ask anyone that knows me they will tell you I am no good with cars, But I still tried really hard to find the part... thing is I don't know what it is excatly... I got a 2001 Lincoln LSV8 Drove it over a pile of snow and now the sob is leaking window washer fluid Im sure I busted the thing now trying to get a replacement, but dunno what I am looking for thought I toss this up here and see if any of you know a thing or two about cars.

It saddens me to see my baby bleed ; ;

You need a windshield washer fluid reservoir. If the actul tank is broken. I can't imagine that they would put that on the bottom side of the car though. It's most likely just a tube going from the tank to your 6 heated windshield washer jets.

I was thinking the same. My guess would be that it wasn't the snow so much as it was that the car came down HARD and cracked the reservoir.

Take it to a repair shop? Just a thought.

2001 isnt that old, so parts should still be kicking around for it. Call a bonified Lincoln dealer and tell the parts department / cust service what happened, and what you think broke. Then they will go through what parts you COULD need and if they have them or not, if they dont, . a lot of parts can be transposed from other makes/models so you shouldnt have any worries.

If that fails, a wrecker / junk yard will always have parts kickin around. Just call them and ask them if they have your model car, and if they have the specific part. (Easier to talk to the dealer first, to find out what parts you need, then call the wrecker)

A lot of forums on the net are dedicated to specific cars (step dad keeps trying to get me on the Thunderbird forums lol). Could look into one about Lincolns and see if you can find info on there, its always got places for parts, people who sell them out of garages and even ways to mickey mouse fix em.

Good luck in your search. Sucks when your car dont work right. Leavin work and makin an appointment for mine :(

I've never worked on a Lincoln before, but having the resevoir on the bottom of your vehicle would be a very stupid move on their part. It is supposed to be easily accessible for when you have to replenish fluids. Are you sure it is washer fluid?

Thats what I was thinking. Hopefully he didn't crack the engine block or the head, and its actually leaking coolant rather then washer fluid. That's why I say bring it to a shop if you don't know what you are doing.

Granted, it's going to be spendy probably. I'd rather spend a few hundred now, then try to fix it myself, and spend a few thousand later.(will be a few thousand to start if it's the engine block though =/)

Heh, if it's the block, I want to know just how fast he was hitting this snow lol Possibility none the less though I guess.

Stranger things have happend. lol. Some of those snow/ice chunks can get pretty hard lol. Maybe it was already messed up, and the snow bank just made it noticable.. who knows lol.

I'd say it would be more likely that it is transmission fluid than coolant. Which, again, is a bad problem. That is if it isn't washer fluid, which it probably is because Darklion, while being not so mechaniclly inclined in the way of automobiles, is not an idiot.

Unless there was a concrete curb under there somewhere (I have done that before, but it bent one of my rims and I lost a shock... no engine damage.)

Anyway, what colour is the fluid your losing? Coolant comes in many different colours, we just switched from purple to blue this fall, and it does look exactly like washer fluid.

The most common leak from banging up your car is from a lower radiator hose. (All/most cars have a return hose on the underside) They usually aren't expensive, and most generic auto places have them, in stock most of the time.

But being that it is a Ford product... and a Lincoln at that, you'd best take it to a shop or a dealer to save yourself a headache. Ford has a BAD habit of designing their parts to either require specialty tools to install/disassemble AND specialty fluids so they can make more money on the maintenaince side...

Never said he was an idiot lol.. Just that the blue/green coolant looks alot like blue/green windshield washer fluid. Anyways, care on.

Edit: Excim beat me to it. refer to excims post above to see what I was hinting at.

Im 100% sure its something to do with the window washer fluid Car keeps tellin me to refill it and it was @ 98% filled before the bust. the liquid was light blue btw not borwn black or green

If it is just a hairline crack in your resevoir, you should be able to patch that up with a quick blast of plastic weld, since it's not a high pressure/high temperture system. If it is a washer fluid hose, they should not be that difficult to replace, may just have to route it differently.

I have another question for yah... do you see a leak anywhere, or are you just going by the basis that your car is telling you it's low...?

Maybe you just bumped the fill level sensor??

Didn't even think of that. I still don't think a knock to the bottom of your car could crack the resevoir of your windshield wiper fluid, unless there is some other major underlying factor and this is just a precursor. Do what Excim said and actually check the resevoir to see if it is actually leaking. Then try gently pulling any hoses you see to see if it is just a loose hose. Don't pull too hard.

Its a leak for sure the sucker was bleeding to death. I mean there was a big puddle of blue where it was parked and again the senor read 100% last week and now its copletely empty Doesn't even shoot anything out anymore. Im lookin at maybe a toren hose or maybe I just loosened it. Near as I can tell it won't cost more then 100 bucks which I hope is the case, lol this car left me broke ; ;

You found the torn hose?

Not yet no, but like trippy said I put some Windshield fluid in the thing and it started leaking. From what everyone I know is telling me when I talk to them they really seem to think its a tube of some sort or a pump? I dunno the the bottle or whatever it is is fine its just something under the car on the right side right under where you put the Wishshield fluid in. I got a pic I wish I could post but the site doesn't seem to want to upload it. I am uploading to Photobucket but can't seem to get it on here. If I wasn't soo broke atm after the holiday shoppin and whatnot I would of sent it too someone by now.
