Some help with bst?

I hope this is in the right section, but I was wondering if I could get some help with my bst. Im having trouble figuring out how to lvl with any kind of speed. If I make my pet attack, then I attack too the mob will just start on me after a couple of hits or so, even if the pet had been hitting it for a while. So Ive been having to let the pet do most of the work, and this doesnt make it very fast at all, and pets have only been good for one mob or so. The guides though talk about killing 2 or 3 mobs with one pet, and chaining xp as well. So I was hoping for some suggestions, please ^^ Im lvl 14 btw, thanks in advance =)

That's how BST levels mainly. Your pet will do most of the work and you'll finish it off for full exp. You'll need to be level 35+ to really start chaining, since that level is when you'll be able to release your pets with the "Leave" command. At 14 the best thing you can really do is charm a DC mob, and use it to kill off several EP's quickly and get little bits of EXP rapidly. Or you can solo whatever's EP to you and farm some stuff. Overall though, you won't level very fast except in a few spots (and even those are most likely iffy now with the nerf patch) You can expect to get 2k/hr.....3k/hr tops for most levels.

By all means, take Shakaar's advice over mine. He's an expert and I'm hardly a beginner. That said, here's how I got to 18 (my current level). Who knows, maybe some of what I did is useful. Anyway, I levelled like a gimped warrior/whitemage. That's right. I didn't use pets except for emergencies (IE: throwing something at a mob to run from aggro). Not too long ago, SE pumped up the EXP from EP and DC mobs. Also, you have the Empress band for a greater EXP boost. Finally, you have a 100% reliable "pet" in the form of your npc, if you should have one. To be honest, in my levels so far as Bst, pets were nothing but a liability. They caused me more problems than they helped. Plowing through EP's and DC's (and some EM's with my npc) got me to 18 pretty darn fast. One exception to this was at 16ish, when Dhalmel vs Dhalmel in Tahrongi was just too fun to pass up. So yeah, there's my perspective, and I've already given you your grains of salt. Take it as you will.

You could always go off and fight an EP mob while your pet's busy with something else. That's what I always did in my early days as SMN. Can be risky though, especially in somewhere like the Dunes (you can only have one mob claimed, so they can be stolen). Might want to find a quieter levelling area.

yeah thats what i did in buburimu peninsula, i set my pet vs a tougher mob, and then went off and killed something easy, like one of the mandragora while my pet killed a crawler. also i realy didnt use pets until 20

I actually subbed WAR a few times in my teens and played tank in the dunes for a party.

Other times I would charm a DC or EM pet and fight EM and T's. I would let the pet get about 10 hits in and then join in. I was using +DEX rings at lvl 14 and Battle Gloves for the ACC but nothing else fancy. You don't really want anything that's going to make you hit for high damage. If you pull hate, just turn around. The pet will get it back fast enough.

I would recommend that you should charm a pet and get used to fighting with it. Pretty soon parties aren't going to touch you and you need to be able to handle stuff on your own. You'll start getting a feel for what pulls hate and what doesnt. You'll also start learning about the hate range and what distance you need to be at when you issue commands.

Also, you are going to die a lot.

for low lvls(20 and below) i noticed it was just faster to /War and kill EP or DC solo and bring an HP regen(pear works good because 3hp every 3 seconds for 5minutes is way more than you have). i never got close to death, and i only charmed if i needed to kill something and it was too big to solo, or i got too many links at once

What i did was Charm Even Match Lizzys and set them lose on a Tough Goblin, Cast Dia and Parylze,This is where you will useually grab some hate, I allow the Lizzy to Regain Hate i then engage and hit it when i grab hate i turn the auto-targeting off and turn away , lose hate Then hit it again , Back and forth back and forth i let my lizzy die off before the goblin is dead for full XP. I then grab new Lizzy set on new Gon or you can even do Tough Lizzys I cast Dia and Parylze and rest MP up . I Never Rest HP untill I rest completely, I then stand up and whack the Lizzy/Gob and take full XP. With Empress band i would get 180-220 a kill and sometimes i could grab 300.

A LVL 38 BST had Teleport-Dem and come to help me and had showed me the turn method of getting rid of hate. Work well but i am only lvl 20 so..... Not a ton of exsperience.
