I haven't seen anything on the boards about this yet, but I am psyched about the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 coming in the summer. Looks like Sega is going back to its roots and making a 2D Sonic game :)

This will be available to download on XBOX Live Arcade, WiiWare, and PSN sometime in the summer.

AWWWW SNAP. I'll be getting this for sure, I played the shit out of sonic back in the day. Shit I even had a sonic the hedgehog plush toy when i was in elementary school lmao. Glad its not that 3d bullshit too. Looks pimp.

Yeah, it's about time they took it away from Team Sonic and gave the job to a bunch of guys who remember how badass it was as a sidescroller. Some games just need to stay true to their roots, this is one of them. Between Bayonetta, this, and After Burner Climax Sega has made me a happy fella this year. Needless to say I'm startin' to give them the benefit of the doubt again.

Actually, I think Sonic Team is taking a part in this. The logo is at the end of the trailer I posted. Nevertheless, still refreshing to see a game franchise go back to its roots. Guess games like Sonic & The Black Knight, Sonic & The Secret Rings, oh and not to mention Sonic Unleashed (where you're half Sonic, half werehog, lulz) made them realize its time to listen to the fans. I must say that this new rendition is 16 years overdue.

what's with the the little "Episode 1" bit underneath the title? are they gonna release the game in installments? lol

From what I've been reading around on their forum site, it seems like they are releasing an average of four levels or so per episode. I'm not sure how many episodes there are.

Hmm, I posted a reply to this before the downtime but I guess somethin' happened to it. I could be wrong about what I said, but this is the article I got that info from: http://kotaku.com/5473427/sega-not-developing-sonic-4
