Sony E3 Media Event

Ya, that was a bit disappointing. The media expansion will really help them sell more units though, so I see why they are doing that. But there were no RPGs announced :( why must RPGs be dying on the system? Makes me a sad panda.. hell.. RPGs seem to be dying in general. But a lot of cool things they did show, I can't wait for Patapon 2, PSP's Resistance (it is a separate story I think), InFamous... not too sure, might rent it to try first and then maybe buy it depending there. LittleBigPlanet I've been really excited about for awhile now. Still disappointed no news on White Knight's Story :( Resistance 2 looks like pure awesomeness :D

And yes, so far 360 seems to have had the biggest WOW of E3 :P

RPGs aren't dying...

The biggest announcement so far at E3 was about FF13, a RPG =P

Admittedly, I missed Nintendo's E3, but overall disappointed in the other 2.

360's FF13 announcement would be great for 360 only owners, meaningless for me. 360's disc ripping feature is cool. PS3's youtube uploading is cool. Otherwise all just trailers for shit we already knew was coming.

MAG will probably be fun though.

Don't care about PS3 rentals. I can't see myself using it, haven't used Xbox live's rentals once.

White Knight Story may still be shown on the show floor, though may just need to wait til TGS.

I dunno, RPGs seem considerably fewer in number these days on the consoles :| mostly FPS and Action Adventure games. I like FPS and Action Adventure but the RPG fan in me craves RPGs! I'm forced to play old RPGs to settle it :( (which I enjoy but I'd love to play a new RPG with new characters and story and setting, Fallout 3 should be awesome though).

I heard Nintendo's was the most disappointing E3. So what you saw was the best they had

I'd prefer to have fewer RPGs out on the market. To develop a good RPG takes years of development, and to just pump them out would increase the flood of crap games, which you don't normally see in the RPG genre.

Also, I think we can all agree that the main presentation guy at the Sony conference made a lot of small slip ups during his speeches.
5 billion consoles sold.

I don't see anything wrong. Clearly almost everyone on the planet has one!

I don't mind if they take awhile but I kinda get tired of hearing about a game and getting no new news about it really except maybe once every 6 months >.> But ya, RPGs just seem to be on the decline even in development. I'd not mind a TON of developers making RPGs that take them years to make but they all release at different dates :P then, from my perspective, it's a steady stream of RPGs.

Oh yeah, That DC MMO game looks fucking horrible. It's a freaking PS3 game, and all the combat they showed was people standing still punching repeatedly. Yeah, that's every MMO that ever was, but you'd think a superhero MMO could actually incorporate some... action... you know?

I wish they spent that time showcasing The Agency instead, that shows some actual promise.

Just got back. WOOT God of War 3!

Anyways, Just waiting for some footage from Sony's conference so I can look at everything for myself.

Hmm, you can actually purchase, not only rent movies. Depending on the flexibility of the files, I might buy one occasionally. Assuming I could stick it on a portable hard drive. Highly doubt I'll rent anything though, and mostly interested in purchasing movies that I can't get on blu-ray if I want it bad enough to take some compressed, non-disc version.

Chances are this is going to go hand in hand with their plan to allow PS3 users to rip BRD and put them on their PSP. I imagine any movie you download will be watchable on the PSP, so transferring to a media stick and then to a hard drive would probably be something they will incorperate. If they do, then worth it to me. This would alleviate the problem of having to buy movies on different formats. Just buy the BRD and you can watch it anywhere. If not, worthless.

Anyone else thing Infamous was almost Force unleashed like, just not with jedis?

From a purely gaming perspective: if anyone won E3, I'd have to say it'd be Sony (as hollow victory as it may be)

Nintendo had Animal Crossing, Wii Music/Sports 2, and a controller attachment that shouldn't even be needed

Microsoft had a Ps3 game, 2 exclusives (GoW2, Fable 2) and Avatars

Sony had the most exclusives (Resistance 2, MAG, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Motorstorm 2, SOCOM, DC Universe, Infamous), and Home

For extra content though (such as movies, tv, etc), that'd be all user preference

But, a while back I saw a scene of Infamous, where the guy single handedly leveled anything that moved in like a whole block. It was awesome, and so different from what was shown because he was fighting enemy after enemy all at once.
