Well, after countless nail-biting Dynamis - Xarcabards, it finally happened.

Congrats! How long did it take from the time you started Dynamis to get your surcoat by the way? This is definitely one piece that gives you a little smile when you finally see it on your PLD (even if the I.R Body ends up being better, lol)

Around 15 runs of Xarca with my own shell. Funnily enough, it's the first PLD relic to drop in any northlands zone in my shell's history, lol.

Over 2 years of Dynamis, though.

Avalons Breastplate arguably already is a better piece. Surcoat wins in pure enmity build, wich still makes it an important piece. But the overall stats on Avalons breastplate is better and if you had to pick only one piece, it would be Avalons. Ideal of course is to have Valor surcoat, Avalons breastplate, Are's Cuirass and Koenig Cuirass.

Oh, and valor surcoat is already beaten in enmity by Hydra haubert, wich ill agree isnt a realistic choice and is probably the rarest of all the pieces mentioned.

You forgot about the Valhalla Breastplate, good HP & enmity aswell as -5% damage taken, hope to pick one of these up one day >< lol.

Didnt really forget, but valhalla has slow on it. Bulkpart of todays endgame tanking is done /nin, wich would mean you would have to macro the piece out ALOT. This means you wouldnt get any use of the hp, and wouldnt get much use from the 5% dmg taken either. Its good for /war and /rdm, where you only would have to macro out for flash. (you can easily afford 5% slow on rdm since dispel and blind has a silly recast anyways and only dumbasses uses sleep1 and bind.) With these subjobs you would also see a use of the 5% dmg taken. But there arent to many places you use these subjobs anymore.
