Im wondering what everyone thinks about the two new handhelds. Me personnaly im going for the PSP cause it looks much better than the DS. Looks sexier and more mature. As for the games, im partial to RPGs, so who ever has the best RPGs ill go for. I was going to buy a DS but none of the gamesright now interest me at all. But the PSP looks promising in solving my RPG addictoin with Tales Of Eternia. *drool*
anyway, which, if any, handhand do you prefer?

PS: no matter what, neither of the systems will ever beat the good old GBA for me. Best handheld ever!

wheres the both button?

Both for me. I'm still holding out for better DS games before I feel completely happy about buying it, but it's a nifty little machine.

I can't wait for my PSP. I want to play Untold Legends sooooo bad.

I think of the PSP the same way I think of the game gear.

Graphics may be better, it may look cooler but the battery life sucks and that'll kill the system....

I find it funny that they're releasing spider man 2 with considering the movie is longer than the battery life...

Okay, before I'm flamed to hell, this was a personal request by one of my ingame friends. I'm not gonna reveal who, but, whatever; here it goes:

Sabia, your "information" is highly innacurate. I dare you to go to the GameFAQs PSP General message board and start posting stuff like that. Granted, most of the people on that board have horrible Grammar, I'm sure someone, such as Techni Myoko or Neo Doom, would correct you as soon as they even read your claims about battery life.

Spider-Man 2 DVD
Reviewed by Stella Papamichael ... Length: 122 minutes

Last time I checked, 122 mintues was 2 hours and 2 minutes. 2 hours and 2 minutes is less than 2 hours and 30 minutes.

If you're gonna talk about a console, don't act like a fanboy/girl/thing. Get your facts straight and then talk.

That being said; all three portables are great. Honestly, I haven't played a PSP yet, but I have played and own a DS and GBA. The GBA, as of right now, has more to offer (Gameboy, Gameboy Color, and Gameboy Advance Games). DS gives you a small, crappy selection (as of now) of games as well as Gameboy Advance games.

Alright, unless I'm asked by the same person to post again, don't expect me to respond. And no, I honestly don't care if I'm banned; I obviously don't visit this site often (post count of one; whoop-dee-do).

Tut-tut, cheerio. p_o

I love my GBA, the DS will eventually win me over once the library gets a little larger . . . or the new Castlevania comes out . . . I'm a whore for that series.

As for the PSP, I could take it or leave it, the battery life isn't so much an issue for me since I rarely sit around for more than two hours at a time gaming when I'm all by my lonesome (and people wonder why I'm still level 32  ).

My more pressing issue is Sony's admission of faulty hardware and they're "Just deal with it" response. I mean sure, if the library eventually wins me over like the PS2 and Xbox did that's great, I'll go in for the system. But I'm not going to buy a faulty out of the box system just because it's new and shiny.

Like every system that comes out I apply a very simple rule:

Money Spent on System ≤ Money Spent on Games in 6 months

if this is true I will buy the system, if not . . . I can wait.

You're flaming me for a difference of 28 minutes? I was being sarcastic for murphy's sake....and I don't think people are going to charge their PSPs to full JUST to watch Spider Man 2. If you play 15 minutes on the thing there's a good chance that by the time you're done loading the movie etc that the thing is going to cut off before the credits roll.

You're talking to someone who owned a Game Gear, a system that looked better and was flashy but a wickedly short battery life totally ruined the fun of it being portable. You know where my Game Gear is? Last time I checked about 10 years ago, it's in a closet at my mothers house....My gameboy on the otherhand is up in my room.

Did I say that PSP sucked? noooo....but is it's battery life shit? YES! 2.5 hours wouldn't take my ass to edmonton let alone on a flight anywhere.

If battery life is something that is going to be an issue, you can always get a second battery. If that is not good enough and you want to play like there is no tomorrow, an inverter might be for you.

I have not tested it (it's not released silly!) with this product but I see no reason why it would not work. If there is not enough power (PSP only uses 5 V I believe) there are solar panels that power laptops, no problem (*cough* for 300 USD *cough*)...

Battery life is a loosers excuse of why the PSP might suck. If the games are great, gamers will do whatever it takes to get their fix.

Just my 2 gil.

But why make it portable if you can't take it away from the wall/plug-in. Why not just put all these great games on the PS2 and not bother with it? You obviously never owned a game gear...if you're going to make a system portable make it portable. I'm not saying the games are going to be bad I just think the hardware was really poorly thought out and designed.

IE the Square button not lining up with the sensor button....just stupid things like that have me worried.

DS. The PSP just seems like another stupid way of going "HAY! YUO CAN LISTEN TO MUSIC AND WATCH MOVIES ON TEH GO!". I buy my systems for one purpose: games. I don't need an MP3 player or a movie player, I just want games. Yes, the PSP has games, but again the games are the same as you'd see on PSone and PS2, and that means you're going to have to find an outlet if you want to play them for a while.

The DS is only for games. Not just that, but it's a new and innovative way to play them. Touch screen, microphone, two screens, etc. They just need to work on the library a lot more.

Well I've played around with a PSP plenty (perks of working for GameSpot/FAQs!) and I don't know if I plan to buy one. I mean, the graphics are amazing for a handheld, but it's just not very portable (neither is the DS for that matter). It's big and clumsy and uncomfortable, and it's easy to damage the screen. Since you don't have the DS's clamshell to protect it, you really don't want to take it anywhere outside of your house for fear of damaging it. And thus, what's the point really in having a fancy portable device that you're afraid to take anywhere or can't use for very long without hurting hands? I have a DS, and will probably end up getting a PSP (I can't help but buy new things, heh) but if I had to recommend one of the two... I'd say stick to GBA.

As an aside, the battery isn't a huge deal. It's gonna die way faster than a DS fully charged one, but by the time it dies you won't want to play it anymore for a while anyway.

The main reason I'm getting a PSP over a DS is because of third party support.
As far as I know, the PSP has twice as many launch titles as the DS.

About the whole portable thing I think that most people that I know play GBA in their house, laying on the bed or on the couch. I like the PSP because it will be like playing my PS2 on my couch without having to use up the TV. I like playing my GBA while laying in bed. I dont take it anywhere really, maybe to school sometimes, so the battery life isnt a big deal for me. As for the innovation part of the DS I dont see how that is cool. ooooo you can touch the second screen. for me thats not so cool. I play mostly RPGs so I dont see the touch screen doing anything for FF3 remake.

here's how i view it.

PSP vs DS is the same as ps2 VS Game cube

nintendo gets kiddy games. ps2 gets good games. likewise i can't respect nintendo systems after what they did to the 2 games with FF in their names released onto thier system. FFTA defiled everything good about an incredibly good game and FFCC... won't even go there, it's like take FF and dumb it down to wolfskymoon levels. yeah, you heard me. Wolfskymoon level dumb.

so inherently.. PSP > Wolfskymoon (nintendo)

I'll be getting a psp when it comes out... I have a gba and my brother has a ds...

I like the ds and all, but right now there just arent that many games... and not all the games are killer (in fact i cant think of one that i would call killer) The "innovations" nintendo seems to be stuck on lately all seem to be nifty at first... but after the initial uses, they kind of fall apart (gc-gba connectivity, n64 sticking with carts, virtualboy... shudder)

i usually dont play my portables for more than 30min-1hr at a time, so battery life really isnt an issue for me. whats the deciding factor for me is the game library. gba= best library psp= great launch library with many prospects ds= crappy launch library with a few good looking prospects (but those are damned good ones).

thats why i dont own a gamecube... there are only a few games on it that are worth playing, but those games are damned good. the psp may have hardware problems, which sony is very good about if you take the time to call them and it isnt your own fault... but the battery life is a nonissue for me.

I also owned a gamegear (got it for christmas one year) but i only had one game for it... none of the games really excited me. seriously, how many game gear games can you say you remember?

-Ham
