Did anyone notice that damage on stuff gets capped with avatars? i.e. Carbuncle hits Tiny Mandragora for 128, normal hit or critical..
Was wondering what everyone's input was on this..I think it's sorta weird, myself...dunno if the cap is based on monster level or Summoning Magic skill or what...cause Fenrir does more than 128 to them, but then again the attack-type is different (think Fenrir does Axe-type damage while Carby does Club, or somethin..)

But yeh...seekin input...and stuff.. =P

Well all damage gets capped. On a composite bow with wooden arrows my Ranger caps at about 184 on Madragoras in Tahrongi Canyon. Course a critical goes higher so I can not tell you whats up there.

Fae

Its not based on sumoning skill... like anything else theres a cap to just how much damage your avatars will do based on their stats vs. the mobs.

By the way, you guys probably know that already, but for those who don't, you can SC with your avatar.

I was playing level 10 RDM/smn (I was bored, just messing around, it was actually quite succesfull) in Konshat when all of a sudden I see a Distortion after doing Poison Nails---> Fast Blade. Throw in a Water spell and I was SC/MB with myself (sorta).

Here is a good chart I found out after with Blood Pacts "WS":

Have fun!

Yeah, i've SCed with avatars, it's pretty cool; i have also been in a party where we did a distortion MB with Diamond Dust, did, i think, around 2000+ dmg (if not that, above 1500, it's been a while.) But, all in all it was badass, too bad it's a 2hr though. ><

I try my hardest not to let a skillchain go in my parties where I don't either participate or MB.

Summoners can open or close virtually any skillchain at my level (would be all if I had Fenrir). So if youre stuck in a PT without a diversity of weapons, or need to get a certain SC going, a summore is what you want.

Recently I was fighting mandies in Yhoator Jungle, and due to a lack of melees, I was opening Fusion with Ifrit's Punch, and later closing it with Ifrit's Burning Strike (a nice move). The Tier 2 nukes I have atm are also good to MB.

One part I was in, the 3 melee characters were all using swords, so I ended up SCing with each of them in turn, one per mob Poison Nails --> Fast Blade, to give us Distortion on every mob.

At later levels, Tail Whip is great on quite a few WS'..back when I used it, could do something along of the lines of
Tachi: Enpi -> Tail Whip = (Detonation? Some Wind MB =P) -> Starburst = Gravitation, which allowed the BLM/RDM to MB Drain/Aspir/Bio after doing Aero II. Was pretty useful at the time. =P

It's the same with most BST pets too. I was farming with KeenearedSteffi (HQ carrot broth, think it's "Famous Carrot Broth") in the marshes a couple months back and noticed that it would hit and crit hit stuff for 220 damage either way a lot. Think it has something to do with Too Weak enemies. When they're EP and above I've noticed crits always do more.

It's sortof embarassing to see them hit a level 0 mob for 128 and a level 15 mob for 150... XD

Actually, at level 30, a SMN with all avatars except Fenrir can still open/close every SC.

Back to the topic at hand... yes, there is a limit to how much damage you can deal; not sure what the formula is, though.

Pet damage is determined by it's level (it is given a max and min) vs target level, stats.
There is a hard cap for PC pets.

Could apply to avatar/ pets as well, who knows :)

I've never seen a pattern, all I know is that it isn't at all capped, ever. I've hit with Double Slap for a range of 78-1,068 dmg on the same lvl with lvl 50ish mobs and down. And when it comes to the elemental BPs, TP is obviously the contributing factor.

Sunburst + Poison Nails = Transfixion + Cure III
on a Wight rocks!!!!!!11one!1

This was actually in reference to normal attacks.. =P

Like why a guy's Mithra has a bigger chest.....
NOT FAIR.

I apologise, you are correct. Though I have only just got to level 30 and have never used Double Punch before, so until now, I was unable to close Compression and Gravitation, or open Transfixion :).
