I read in another thread here that tekkan was going to come to 360, and since Soul Calibur is also going to come to the 360, I was wondering if the Tekkan vs. SC was as extreme on QCDN as it is in my nerdy group of friends.

I'm personally a much bigger fan of Soul Calibur, because to me it takes alot more skill to do really well. I've seen first timers come up to my friend, that has won many Tekkan tournaments here in MN, and be totally dominated by the button mashing-ness. I've seen the same thing with Soul Calibur, but no where near to that degree.

What do other think/feel about these two games of the same genre, but vastly different play styles?

Soul Calibur has always been more fun too me. And it has better characters that I like <.>

Tekken is fun an all, but I'm a SC fan.

Soul Calibur is more interesting, better char. design, story is actualy cool, better looking, better moving and just all around fun. I am very good at tekken but its kinda dull gameplay.

I never heard anything about Tekken coming to 360, although it's certainly possible because it's a 3rd party and no reason it couldn't fit on a DVD.

PS: They both suck compared to Virtua Fighter.

yeah i saw tekken coming to 360, but i would prefer SC. even over virtua fighter. but ill still be getting virtua fighter for all the bonuses and online, i dont think i would have got it without the online! Tekken i dont think ill buy

Meh for me SC>2Dfighters>DoA>Tekken>VF.

Tekken is was more complex than Soul Edge (lolSoulBlade), but then the moves were upgraded in Soul Calibur. Now I think they can go toe to toe. Tie.

Normally, SC > Tekken. Tekken Tag Tournament is still one of my top favorite fighters though. If they had a cast in Soul Calibur large enough, and made a Tag Tournament style Soul Calibur game, I'd think I had died and gone to heaven.

Agreed. I prefer Soul Calibur, but Tekken Tag was an awesome game.

I like the characters and weapons in SC.

I take back what I said earlier. Soul Calibur FTW!

I just went and saw the 4 page editorial and I was hyped with the custom character part. =D

They're both fun as hell but I find I have a better time playing Soul Calibur since the friends I play with don't really play video games much or at all, and it's easier for them to button mash.

Paul and Hworang from Tekken are your fucking daddys, though.

So this Tekken Tag tournament thing worth a play eh? I mean I liked tekken 3, but it was nothing special.

Should be cheap, I might go grab tag tourney.

I'm not a huge nut on fighting games, but I'd hafto say Soul Calibur > Tekken. The characters are more dynamic and have a bit more of a unique feel to them, whereas in Tekken they have the same "alter ego" thing brought up in the Smash Bros thread. That is, they make very slightly different versions of [x] character to make it look like they have more characters than they really do. Not saying Tekken is a bad game in the least, just seems to me that SC covers the genre better almost entirely.

Where are you guys getting that it's coming to the 360 anyway?

I could have sworn i read it in a different thread in this section, but i can't for the life of me remember which. I've been searching but i can't find it again. If i messed up, sorry. Could always turn it in to Soul Calibur vs. Virtua Fighter if need be.

Virtua Fighter vs Soul Calibur would be a depressing debate since Virtua Fighter is an overwhelmingly less popular fighter despite superior game play. It's not so much designed for the mass audience of casuals.

I prefer Virtual Fighter over both simply because I can get some of my non-gaming family members to play, but between Tekken and Soul Calibur I'd definitely have to say Soul Calibur is the better of the two, despite having much nostalgia for the Tekken series.

Fire, the same guy who released the info about VF coming to 360 also said Tekken6 is coming. There are like hundreds of posts on gaming sites about this. Some of them have insiders dealing with the game only giving hints lol.

Despite its "superior game play" i still think Soul Calibur is far better. I actually really don't think there is anything superior about Virtua Fighter.
