Soul Sacrifice

Been playing the demo of this for a while now (it's on the Japanese PSN Store). It's a gorgeous game, and I don't mean graphically, which is great too, but just the overall way the game presents itself. The writing style is beautiful down to the way they scripted the text. I feel bad for people who have to get the English version, you guys are missing out on one hell of a gorgeous language used as an art tool in this case. The animations are ridiculously good as well, really, I'm sitting here trying to remember the last time I've seen anything half as cool as some of the things that go down in this game. And of course the gameplay is fantastic, after all, Inafune did it.

This game honestly might get me to get a Vita tbh. Though I really wish I could trade my old UMDs into digital downloads, personally. But, ah well. There's likely little hope at that happening.

I've heard the online is REALLY fun.

Yeah, online or off, the game is amazing; I just hope they don't region lock the servers. March is going to be rough though. Deciding between playing this or the new Senran Kagura Vita game, or playing MH3U... I think I'm going to put my non virtual life on pause for a few. Ugh, and I just remembered the new Castlevania game... They gotta stop releasing all this stuff on us at once, claiming bad sales, and then spending the rest of the year whining about low profits and hard times.

It's a shame how crummy the western Vita market is, but I'd say if one game could make the Vita worth it, it's definitely going to be this one. Not that the Japanese market is much better, really, my Vita is pretty much a damn Nook or something similar, since all I have is Visual Novels and Ys, but at least that's something when opposed to nothing. If one game can't do it for you, Muramasa is coming and I'm pretty sure XSEED is localizing the Ys game, so there is a little comfort I suppose. The Ys game is a lot of fun, and it's unlikely XSEED's inevitable crap localization could even mess it up and Muramasa, if you haven't played it, is really, really good, aside from being just ridiculously cool to look at and listen to (it's a Vanillaware game).

Playing your PSP games on Vita is only ideal in very few situations. A lot of games have problems, so really, you're better off sticking to the PSP. Most games have sound issues, that's pretty normal, and a lot of games have graphical errors. The main problem I have with it is how fickle it can be and how little compatibility information there is out there right now. It's just not worth it to spend 20+ hours on a game and then get hit a bug and realize, "huh, this game doesn't work on the Vita." That's how it is right now. Any game will work, there is no filtering, but not all of them "work" and since there is no filter from Sony, it's up to us to sort them out, something that is progressing very, very slowly given the unpopularity of unhacked PSPs in the west and the unpopularity of the Vita on the whole. Hell, there are even instances of some games working for some people and not for others, really, it's just a big mess that's not worth dealing with.
