Not every artist is an amazing songwriter. That doesn't make their vocal talent any less good. I don't really get this argument from people who dislike "pop" music or any other popular genre. Covers have existed forever. There are some bands that make their entire living doing nothing but covering songs. Again, not everyone can write lyrics. Just like not every songwriter can sing. They are mutually exclusive talents that don't have to be combined to give someone talent.
As for the second half, since there's literally no way to know that, I would suggest not talking about things you couldn't possibly know.
I didn't once mention covers. Durrr
Singers who do not offer any creative input on what's coming out of their mouths rightfully do not necessarily have a feeling of responsibility to their industry. It's safe to say in most cases it's the money that keeps them there (ya ok they love to sing, great!), singing is perhaps all the have to contribute to the art.
I said "lack of talent", not to say they don't sing well, but they lack talent (in the creative development stages perhaps) jeeez.
I am a self-proclaimed music nazi, I say it often, I admit it. However, I feel I have the right to be as I am an artist in many aspects of this particular industry. It's completely a selfish act as I don't seek payment for it nor am I interested in payment for it, it's a passion. So guess what. I'm not a fan of pop for multiple reasons, I'll post on this subject all I bloody well want.
I don't over analyze the shit out of peoples posts like so many do on this forum. It's anal, I'd rather be anal at work and get paid for a job well done, then anal picking apart peoples posts and looking like a dick for doing it.
The latter half of my post regarding "hot spots" and being "found on the floor" was merely a stab at what happens to many of these wash-ups that drain themselves of all self-worth. That's what I call selling out.
