So this program was posted over on ffxionline.com and I downloaded it for fun and got stuck playing with it for the last few hours.. its great fun! Basically all it is is an automated spell effect .dat switching utility for people who dont know how to find thier own spell or weaponskill .dats and switch them by hand. It also lets you swap animations with npc actions, fireworks, etc. Changed my bio II to diabolos's nether blast which was fun, and my tier 3 nukes to the avatar prime only moves like geocrush. Only problem with those was a slight distortion of my character during the move since its not meant for a tarutaru, but was still entertaining to watch. Best of all when you dont like something it lets you restore the old file quickly and easily, and wont let you change 1 file multiple times without reverting to the original between switches, so the backup will always be the original file. If anyones bored, try it out! heres some pics.

and the authors notes

Spell Swapper is a program that swaps spell effects, weapon skills, job abilities, etc. automatically. To use the program, first set it to your regional location. See the Set Dir paragraph for more info on this.

Swapping Effects
To swap effects, click the first button that says "Swap Spells." From here, you can scroll through the entire list, click a category to quickly find a group of spells, or use Search to find a specific effect. First, select the spell you want to change, and hit the OK button. Then, select the spell you wish the first spell be changed to. When you hit OK, you should get the message "Files swapped successfully." Please note that you must restore a spell in order to change it to a different spell.
3-9-06 Program Update allows you to list effects by game. Select All to show all spells from every game, select FFXI to show all the original effects and spells, Zilart for spells from Rise of the Zilart, and etc.

Restoring Spells
To restore changed spells to their origional, click the second button that says "Restore Spells." Select the spell you wish to restore, and press the "Restore Spell" button. You should get the message "File restored successfully."

Updating your List of Spells
To update your list of spells and effects, select the third button "Update Spell List." Your Program Version, version of your current Spell List, and version of the update Spell List will be displayed, as well as information about the update spell list. Press the "Update List" button to download the new list.

Selecting Regional Settings
If you are unable to use the program, it may be because you must first set your regional settings. To do this, select the fourth button, "Set Dir." From here, you can select your region, or manually type in the location of your Final Fantasy XI\ folder.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

Oh one more thing, you need to zone for the spell changes to take effect. or /log

But when it goes off, super death crosses!

Just need to find a party to see if those crosses go round everyone, that would be fun. Also, why does it not have madrigal? ._.

OMG haha, this is so fun.. doing a lil' Scottish jig for you all:

It's even funnier to see the whole thing. ^That's what happens when you change Paeon for a prime avatar move.

Been playing with this all night. I really love looking at some of the more plain spells, like Dia V and Banish V, of course swapping your first WS for their upgraded relic equivilant is cool too.

If anyone finds that Aern ranger move where they essentially hadoken you, please tell me where it is. Also the reason it doesnt have some of the brd spells is the programmer is still working out naming all the spells and abils and is adding them as she goes.

Thats freaking cool, after having some issues with restoring some spells (I was starting to think I'd have to get used to cure actually casting Flare II on people) it got amazing!

Thanks for the link, this can go with my race changer application too :D

I had a PM asking for the race converter, so I figured that some of you must be interested, so here is the link to the download, aswell as the author's note:

http://craftmon.royaltyhosting.com/Downloads/47.aspx

EARLY EARLY EARLY BETA.

Requires .net framework 2.0 (same as all my other apps)

Just load it up, it'll detect your current race and face (no height yet), and then you can click any option in the lists to change the value. For it to update in-game you need to change 1 piece of gear, that's all. Provided you leave the application open and minimised, your race will never change back to default, even when you zone.

In case it's not clear, this program changes your race only, no other characters will be affected at all.

DO NOT OPEN IT UNTIL YOU'RE FULLY IN GAME AND BE SURE TO CLOSE IT BEFORE YOU LOG OFF. You've been warned!

Silfer.. you need help :P

whoa silfer howd you make yourself dance?

Non-player animations do... strange things when you try to get a character to do them.

this stopped working after last update BTW.

Hmm i always had the old raceconv program that changed everyone in the game's race. this one is really handy since it only changes YOU. works for me in x64 with .net framework 2.0.

i can do everything else fine, just not that one. :/

yeah I played around....changed some of my dagger spells to blade: Ten mithra
just for the spin...

for some reason i can't get sidewinder to change to Namas arrow :/

oh and also all I can do is change to the standard faces of the races, I can't seem to figure out how to swap data files for my equip

oh well, it's fun, but be careful. laptop users be forwarned...

I've got a problem, if anyone knows how to fix it. For some reason, "Third Eye" shows the "Raiton: San" effect, even after restored (It'll change when I swap it with something eles, of course). Anyone know how to restore it's original form?

someone find the file for the provoke animation in brenner. it's freaking sweet.
