It wasn't. It was a normal ep where homer lost his job and became a Santa. Barney had the bright idea to go to the dog race tracks and bet on some super dog. Homer being the idiot he is bet on Santa's little helper thinking it was a sign. He lost his money and while looking for winning tickets in the parking lot they saw as Santa's old owner was telling him to get lost. Homer and Bart took him in and went home. Wasn't longer then 30 mins.
