So my friend and I were talking about FF7 after I showed him that link with FF7: Crisis Core scene and we talked about whatnot and it got us to both thinking about why they hadn't gone with another idea for a spin-off for FF7 instead of say Dirge of Cerberus or that Turks game. Both of which (at least from what I read about the Turks game) didn't really help that much in the FF7 Universe and Dirge of Cerberus (all be it fun and I think interesting) having screwed a few things up iirc.
Anyways, we got to wondering why they don't go with the war with Wutai. I mean, how did this small village in FF7 that we see manage to withstand exactly with Shinra. How exactly did Sephiroth make a name for himself there, and all sorts of fun questions that could be asked. I figured it seems like a good idea because it's part of the FF7 world which could be fun to go through but it wasn't mentioned all THAT much in FF7 so they could run with it MANY ways and still not screw up (I mean unless they really ran stupidly with it) anything that happened in FF7. And, easily enough, they could have the player play as Sephiroth who probably has one of the biggest fanboy/fangirl followings of any game character ever created (though I find him cool I'm still more amused by Kefka tbh XD). That alone would prolly sell about a million copies in the world lol.
I guess the idea of this topic mostly is to share the idea we came up with, the amusement that SE hasn't thought of something that potentially would make them a lot of money, and also I'd like to see what others think of their ideas, if they have any fun spin off ideas they have and whatnot. And don't limit it to FF7 really, I'd love to see ideas everyone has about any fun game.
Edit: this is to say, iirc, Crisis Core is 5 years before FF7 but the Wutei war I remember being said to be 20+ years before FF7
