So I am planning on leveling warrior to 37 along with thief and black mage, and I was just wondering if you guys thought it would be a good idea to splurge on the gear for these jobs.

I am relatively poor, ive got less than a mil to my name, and its be reserved for blue and ninja gear eventually, nin is 50 blu is 40.

Im starting with warrior, and Im using swords becasue I dont want to take the time to level axe's greatswords or great axes, because well... theyre levle 20 or lower and my warrior is 24.
If anyone thinks it would be a good idea to use axes instead and knows a great way to level the weapons up fast lemme know, its much appreciated.

Also is it worth it to get top of the line gear for these jobs?

Great Axe is the best way to go for leveling WAR as a sub. It would be worth the time to skill it up. Maybe level DRK and use it until you get it capped for WARs level.

Sounds good, thank you skaw I always take youre advice to heart.

another way to level great axe, just go buy the weakest axe you can, and go out in ROlanberry Fields, and just kill bee's, goblins, and whathave you there. You should cap off of them fairly easily, and within at most an hour. sound slike trudging work, but comparing it to DRK where youd have to lv a whole other job just to lv a weapon might seem irksome. Besides, whatre you gonna do when you wanna lv scythe?

just my two cents

Use WAR's higher level and surivivability to skill it up to DRK usable?

Seems like a copout reply, but get a PL to get your great axe capped. It really is the best weapon for warrior and once you get Sturmwind, you'll be loving the damage.

About getting HQ or splurging on gear, I don't think it's worth it. At that level, there isn't a huge amount of HQ or expensive gear that will break your bank, so save it for something else. The only exception to this might be weapons, but if I recall, there aren't too many HQ weapons you need. That goes for all three jobs; WAR, THF and BLM. BLM should be relatively cheap even if you get the HQ seer's which will take you all the way to 37 (AF even if you have future plans to do so) and before that, there isn't much else. THF has some nice HQ daggers which really show over NQ, but they are low level synths and abundant/cheap. Gear is also relatively easy to afford and not much +dex available at lower levels save emp pin and leaping boots (You can always camp those for free and you'll want them for NIN most likely). WAR has nothing expensive until you get much higher than 37. I think that sums it all up. Been a long time since I leveled all 3 of those jobs at those level, but I don't think much has changed and price has probably dropped if anything.

Edit: To save gil, try getting gear which overlaps jobs. Republic Subligar is a great choice and it works for NIN, WAR and THF very well. Emp Pin and Leaping boots are again another choice.

GA is deffinentl the way to go for WAR. It is by far the best weapon a WAR can use up to 37 (and probably untill Rampage). I remember throwing out 400+ Sturmwind's as WAR in Garlaige \(^.^)/

Yes, I'd say lvling GA would be worth it. However, you really don't need top-of-the-line gear if you're oly taking the job to 37. Most people won't spend that much money on gear pre-37. However, if you do have top-of-the-line gear for your jobs pre-37, you will get exp faster since you'll be more effective. So its really a matter of whether you think its worth it for faster exp or not.

I love leveling subjobs to a respectable level, I learn so much about the game and have a good time at it. Going all out in gear is a nice luxury if you have the gil, or want to invest now and mule it if you want to do some level cap events in the future. Otherwise, I'd say save the money for the other jobs you're really interested in. Best of luck!

Splurging on subjobs, probably not worth it. But gimping them will make you look retarded. So find the balance. If you're a rank 10, but have all NQ gear and half ass the fights just because "it's just a sub" then you'll probably not get more invites.

I was one to spend money on ridiculous shit when leveling my subs. Don't make the same mistake I did lol I lost a lot of money because by the time I was done with the sub, prices were through the floor and I wanted to shoot myself.

Wear the gear that matters, and screw the stuff that doesn't

Doing SMN, i lvled 10-20 wearing a republic aketon, the lvl 8 slacks, an MP hairpin, MP staff, and 2x astral rings.

dont gimp on subjobs. it can lead to a bad reputation later.

for ex- if i party at a lowlevel with someone and their gear sucks, i really wouldnt invite them for a higher level party based on the previous experience. (and by suck i mean gimping and not the bare essentials)

as far as war goes, dont forget that its not always about a max WS. its about DOT as well as WS. :)

I agree, you don't have to have all HQ gear, but don't just wear your level 1 RSE or worthless gear either. You don't need emp pin and leaping boots, and those are really the only items that have a high price tag at those levels; but at the same time, keep up with your gear and try to get effective equipment. When I was leveling my drg sub, I didn't bother with a back piece, because there was nothing but 1-3 defense back pieces that weren't worth the space/gil. So look around, and you should be able to gear up your subs pretty well for not much money.

Great Axe is what I used to leveling war for sub, but then when I actually decided I wanted to level war, my axe skill was gimp and it was a hassle to catch it up at lower levels. You don't have to have the absolute best weapon on the ah, but at least carry both a great axe and one hand axe to keep them both skilled up.

Flik I have a lot of low lvl equip for WAR if you want to borrow it

Are there any lowish level jobs you don't have equipment for? :P

Not counting the ones I already stole the equipment for from your mules I mean.
