I know it's old as hell and feel free to move the thread if need be, but this game never loses its luster. I made this thread because some of the discussion(including myself) included the GC version and as great as the game is it deserves it's own thread.

I've beaten nearly all of the events except the event match no. 50,can't figure out how to beat him.

I've rushed the hands with my best chars but still lost after killing one hand.

uh....

control stick >>>>(hard)= run or wave dash?

Can't be anything new I've done most of the game without hearing it, but then again I don't read game manuals; I just find out the hard way

edit: Answer your damn phone, unless you changed your number...

My cell phone got deactivated, since my dad passed away and he was the one paying the bill, I'm getting a new one soon.

And no, that's not how.

Event match. 50

Go to the side, jump, hit repeatedly, dodge attacks.

Donno how to give more info then that :| .......

I never said he had to know it, I just hoped he knew how to.

Wave dance = jump->dodge in succession.

Advanced technique for dodging, most good players use it. Most people that WD think they're really good, so I intentionally DON'T, and continue to 5-stock them to prove the point that wave dancing is not the key to being good.

Oh, that LoL...yeps I never really use it, I've used it only once.

I don't really use WD because it leaves me open to an attack from below and I'd much rather use down>> A (downward pierce/strike) than evade an attack unless I'm against Ganondorf or Captain Falcon as they can counter with Up>>B most of the time but not always.

I'll try using it as the hands have to 'rest' slightly after an attack.

When I use Link most of my knockout blows are aerial after I stab them a couple of times;)

For the people who don't know what WD is:

Edit: As to what Shyrra said, You don't have to wave dash to be good, personally, I just use it for fun and to annoy my friends.

I've only played the Gamecube version. Have a handful of characters you're good with. I have a terrible weakness -- I don't like strong, slow characters. Ganondorf, Bowser, Donkey Kong, I'm terrible with them all, but I'm great at evading their attacks.

If you want to train, I like to use Falco and put him at Lv9, with Handicap of 9. I think that means essentially, he is Lv18. I also play with no items, because I hate throwing something and exploding myself. I think the best levels are the purple one (I forget the name, but it's like you're flying through space) and Corneria.

I can't wavedash. I can still hit someone doing it, since some of the people that use it, do nothing but wavedash. it's pretty predictable really, and I just have to position myself and wait. I don't win a lot but I last for a decent amount of time.

EDIT: I had event 50 beat with Roy...

No matter how I look at it, Giga Bowser MUST die. Straight up, he has to go.

There's this thing that Jiggypuff can do that makes the character fall asleep, and I think it's an instant KO. If you can land it properly on Giga Bowser, you blah blah blah and then win or something.

I don't think it works very well on him since he has such a large mass. I remember larger characters getting sent less far away from rest than light weights.

No, you can -almost- instant KO him with it, That's how I beat it with Jigglypuff, I used the down + B move. Then after Giga was down I took out the other ones with the roll out move.

I just went for Roy counter smash. Worked surprisingly well, although I wouldn't advocate it to Khi due to the timing.

(I don't use Roy much anymore though.)

Character preferences?

Mine

Link- Bread and butter, somewhat slow, but plenty of projectiles to stun opponents then spin attack to knock around. Most of the time it's boomerang>>dash strike> spin attack.

Bow for sniping or when a foe gets out of a jump and close to the stage to where they can't block unless they wavedash to the stage then you could boomerang>>spin attack

Hookshot- extends slightly out of sword range good for suprising opponents especially if they have longer reach(read: Marth and possibly Roy) Marth's blade is slightly longer than Links I don't know about Roy's though.

Hookshot + up>> spin attack, hookshot+ down>> spin attack

or if you want to be a little fancy

hookshot+ down>> A+down(slices down on both sides) opponent should be flying at this time then>> Up+ A until he's K.O.ed

Of course the opponent needs to have some damage on his belt and pending weight takes more Up+ A to pull off, which is what the first two Hookshot combos are for

Boomerang- good reach and great starter for combos, it stuns very well regardless of damage and only gets better as your opponent takes damage. It can be deflected however so I advise using it only at close(outside of sword range) to medium range.

Conversely if your opponent is coming up a ledge

Throw boomerang as far as possible, enemy comes up and you engage and the boomerang comes back and stuns, just in case the enemy gets you in a bind or is starting their own combo/knockout

Young Link

Used for enemies that are fast since fighting them on link= pain, only problem is that spin attack isn't a knockout blow anymore so I rely on up+A and down+A in the air. His spin attack is good for recovery and getting around fast opponents.

Most of the techniques for Link are good for his younger version only that his boomerang has shorter range which isn't that big of a deal, however his hookshot is shorter, bombs...are bombs still useless. The bow is nice because it's weaker but you see little flames=3

Sheik

I don't use him as much as i used to, but he's the better one that I'm good with for speed and juggling, needles are a bit meh and the recovery is the same as boomerang but not worth it since the stun isn't as strong.

I've never used the whip in the air(supposedly it makes you float if you twirl it fast enough, never seen it though), only used it to stop slow, strong projectiles.

Sheik is really for situations I'm not really serious or worried about losing

Ganondorf

Mostly fun here, most of his attacks are all knockout blows except for that retarded leg charge move that leaves him open, special moves are good for closing in since he's rather slow. No projectiles which makes me a sad panda but still good to use

Worst enemies: Marth(good ones),Fox,Luigi, Cpt. Falcon(good ones), and Kirby though I'm probrably forgetting a few

EDIT: Giga Bowser is a bitch, I hate fighting the hands that is all

I pretty much use Marth and Yoshi, and occasionally Falco or Roy, in that order. Yoshi is mostly just to annoy people with. Captain Falcon is easily my worst enemy, along with Falco.

Hook shot... so slow lol. I see that one coming a year ago.
