Okay I was wondering do the Stage 4 Relics have any good use out side of dynamis?

I was wondering cause the Stage 5 upgrade cost more then the first 4 combined so what if I wanted to upgrade to stage 4 and keep it like that.
 
depends on the relic probably.
However most stage 4 relic weapons only have base damage as thier main selling point.
You might think this is a good thing BUT the "best" weapons for each job pre relic all have additional stats or effect that edge them out. eg hagun, thalsocratt/skystrider,x's knife, destroyers to name a few things.
Simply put a tiny boost in max damage is nothing compared to the bonuses of the "normal" weapons in most cases. If you have enough gil to make it to stage 4 then you could improve the job more by buying HQ gear instead.(or NQ gear in the case of alot of relic holders sadly enough)
 
I remember seeing some thf's dual wielding Mandau and Stage4 Dagger on the offhand and saying it was the most impressive thing ever. Similar things were done with other weapons i think.
 
I know there were a few NIN who upgraded Kikoku and then did Yoshimitsu offhand. This was before Perdu Blade though, so that sucks for them.

Mandau/Batardeau might be ok? But I assume X's Knife would still beat it for offhand.

But back to the original question, no Stage 4 is not worth it just to use the weapon. There are better weapons you could get, and better uses to put that gil to.
 
In the case of better uses for the gil can you say that stage 5s are worth every peny.

Many a relic wielder has sold off their top notch gear just to finish it off. They then have a great weapon but not the material to back it up.

Hm, I don't think that's a big problem (the gil to relic : gear idea). Most people who upgrade relic either sponsor dynamis runs, run a gil based ls, or buy gil.

Either way you have tons of money coming in, and most good gear is rare/ex anyway.

And after about 150~mil for s5 relic, what's another 30 for gear?... or $1000.

I don't see why you'd ever offhand anything besides the blau-class weapons.

The stage 4 sword has very high dmg compared to all other swords for RDM. I wouldn't mind main handing that and subbing joyeuse. Same with the dagger for its jobs(if you don't have x's knife for thf) and the stage 4 axe for BST. Not that it makes sense to stop at stage 4, but if you wanted to use stage 4 those are good.
 
If you are good at making money, upgrading a relic is only a matter of time.

I think people look at the amount of gil it takes and think it's harder than it is.

I am not saying it is easy but when I started I was a bit overwhelmed by how much gil it was goin to take and after maybe 7 months or so its not so bad.

You just need to figure out what to do to make gil. You need to do multiple things to decide what works best for you.

I have done everything from farming misteltoe, wisteria lumber, NMs like Ga'Bhu Unvanquished, to selling znm stuff.

You need to spend at least 75% of all your game time farming/crafting/whatever it is that you do to make gil. You really have to put your heart into it.

Farming is different for everyone. Progress is different for everyone. Find something that is worth your time that allows you make steady progress that you are comfortable with.

Finding something that is also fun as well as profitable is a plus.


I'm going to say there is no relic weapon worth the 40-50mil it costs to upgrade stage 4 that would be worth leaving at stage4.

Level a relic for the love of your job as well as take pride in helping your friends/group/LS as much as possible.

A stage 4 relic wouldn't be much use to anyone. including you.

On the subject of farming what is the most effective item and mob for it when it come to gathering lots of money fast. In terms of gaining the most money I can Ive thought of things like Constant Solos of ODS and Spending my 18hrs a day im on this game in zitah commiting crimes against goobues.
 
That's where you have to get out on the field and find out what does the best for you. Obviously people aren't going to be like here's my money making scheme, have at it!

To be able to solo ODS reliable you need extremely good gear. I've done it on blm, but i never got it to any better then it beeing a cointoss on wether im gonna win or not. Other jobs can do it more reliably, but again, you need so good gear that making money obviously isnt a concern for you anyways. Beside all that, ODS isnt very good money anymore.

Noone actually gets the 30 hundred's back. I dare venture to say that 99.99% if not 100% of all relic-wielders loans the last 30 100's from another upgrader.
 
Who am I to talk, I come from places where LS full sponsor after stage 3 lol. Rarely see people who have crappy gear with relic, considering most of the good gear are rare/ex anyway.

Sadly, I actually give more props to a nq hauby, ruby ring wearing Drk with an Apoc than some SapereAude taru with 6 Relics and HQ gear 3 Salvage sets etc. That's just me though. Idc if both or none bought gil either.
 
Idk, i dont think you need to come out poor to be able to finish a self-funded relic. Integral hasnt funded as much as one byne and we have atleast 7 self-funded relics currently active with top of the line gear. We've had more, but there will always be some people who quit. And while they dont have 6 relics, some has 2 atleast, and 3 salvage sets, hq cerb and well pretty much anything you can imagine from hauteclaire to d.ring to well, idk, anything.
