I just recently have seen people talking about stalling mobs (hnm nms etc..)
Can someone fill me in on what stalling mobs is and the advantage of doing so?

Thanks much! ^_^

From what I can gather, 'stalling' refers to keeping a mob (normally a HNM) claimed but alive for long periods of time, using lowbie weapons and just enough damage to keep hate so that the ToD moves the mob's spawn window to a more favorable time.

people can't get put in jail, but GM's can warp the LS outof the area or despawn the mob.

Or actually, gil sellers did get put in jail for stalling mobs, but I dunno.. no one have been put in jail for stalling HNM's atleast

Yea I just read the post about the gil sellers getting dropped in the big house for stalling low level bats....

Its only stalling if the mob is claimed, so dunno what you mean by low level bats. Thats training :P its different.

Since HNM's pop every 24 (+/-3) hours, when it dies is very important to know when it will be there the next day.

Simurgh dies at 6pm est, it will pop between 6-9pm est the next day.

Since JP time is EST+1 (swap am/pm) that means it will pop at 7-10 am JP time. Since thats a crappy time for them they beat simmy with onion swords dong nil damage but keeping it claimed for a few hours. now it dies at 2am EST (3pm JP) and will pop at 2-5am est, 3-6pm JP.

Thats stalling. <_<; and the reasons behind it.

Normally GM's give 5 minutes before despawning the mob or warping the alliance out, so if you can tell early on, that only gives them 5 minutes to kill said mob, but apparently GM's don't despawn/Warp if there are weapons withdrawn. Always loopholes.

JeanneDarc LS, or however its spelled, used this stalling method on Behemoth 2 days ago.

They had it claimed, casted sleep, paralyze and so on on it. No DoT spells, and noone was attacking it. Just vokin.
Thats stalling.

a GM was called, and all of sudden they began to "attack" it... the tank had his sword out, hitting 1/5 times, and a THF went H2H on it, without weapons...
So stalling big time.

i just gotta correct you on the TOD repop thing, you got it all wrong
if it dies at 6pm EST, the next day, itll pop 3pm-6pm, it is a 21-24hour window, 21hours after he died it opens and has a chance to pop, then when he hits the time he died 24 hours later, he MUST pop, if not already
so 24hour - 3hour = window of HNM/NM spawn
