Now, I'm sure some of you may be thinking right now "This game isn't supposed to be out for another two weeks." Well, it's not. But, at Blockbuster and Hollywood Video, it's available to rent two weeks before it's available for purchase in stores. So yesterday I picked it up, and here are some of my thoughts on it.

The first level felt just like classic Star Fox (SNES and Star Fox 64). You fly in your Arwing through space, taking down Andross' fighters (no, Andross isn't back (as far as I know)).

Now is where I got just a little annoyed. What I want from a Star Fox game is some Arwing flying action. Instead, lots of the missions end up with you starting out on foot. The on foot stuff isn't bad, it just gets a little boring after a while. Sometimes they throw in the Landmaster for you to use, or you can even get in an Arwing (although the Arwing is usually not neccessary, unless it's to save Slippy's ass for the jillionth time). Some of the missions progress with you on foot, then in a Landmaster, to Arwing, etc. It's not bad, I just want more dogfighting.

There was one mission that just pissed me off because it had NOTHING to do with the story, other than the new enemy attacking Sauria (also known as Dinosaur Planet). The planet is attacked by the new enemy, and Krystal senses a distress call from the planet, so they hurry to save the planet (again). It was fun, but it just seemed to stray from the real plot going on, just so they could tie in Dinosaur Planet (and so Fox could let it slip how much he wants Krystal).

I haven't beaten it yet, but I probably will before I have to take it back (it's pretty much back to its Star Fox roots, so it is going to be fairly short). I think I might have around three or four hours of playtime, and I'm pretty sure that I'm near the end. It appears as if it has a lot of unlockables, since you're awarded different medals at the end of every mission (all I know if is Xevious when you get a certain amount of medals in Silver mode). Also, the three different difficulties are sure to add even more unlockables (Bronze, Silver, and Gold). Also, there is multiplayer with several different maps that you can unlock, as well as other things in multiplayer.

Overall, I'm enjoying the game very much (other than my two minor complaints). If you like Star Fox (Dinosaur Planet being an exception), then you'll like this game. Only a little less than two weeks until its official release.

Edit: I think it'd be cool if General Pepper was renamed to Sergeant Pepper.

Woot! So excited

PS: it'd be even better if slippy was dead
