To be honest I like the JP way a whole lot more. It seems they set a certain amount of time to level in like say three to four hours and no one goes AFK or leaves. If one does leave then its end of party. I think this way is way better. People that start trying to party ought to take care of their business before hand and everyone level say for three or four hours and stay focused. That would end the whole "OH MY GOD HE DID NOT GIVE NOTICE DEBATE!" Sorry for the rant but face it our "The NA way" sucks.

I actually believe that post level 40 most NA players think this way too. Unfortunately, it only takes one player who doesn't give a damn to totally screw a group, because a missing member (particularly a tank or a WHM) can't really be replaced if you're in the middle of nowhere.

And recently, the one idiot that has been turning up, has been English speaking rather than Japanese...
 
I see "respect". That's cool. I can dig that; it's good to respect one another in basic principle.
As far as "dedication" goes, come on! Its a game! If you're gonna be dedicated to something, make it a friend or your spouse, or the homeless or whatever. Don't be so dedicated to this game that you get all bent out of shape when real life intrudes (as it will from time to time) and people have to leave a party. It happens. Things come up that DON'T relate to your DRK hitting lvl 56 and often things that invole your ACTUAL life are more important.
While it sucks to have someone quit on your group, like the tank or the whm, it may be the end of vandiel, but it aint the end of you.
 
You don't have to be dedicated to the game, but you should be dedicated to the other 5 people's time in the party that you waste by just up and disbanding.

I'll admit that I play alot, but that doesn't make my time less valuable than somoene who only plays for a few hours a week.

I agree that sometimes things come up. But let's be honest here, things don't come up THAT often. Most people that quit mid-party either quit cause their friend's party needs a group, or they're just tired of playing. For those that have plans, maybe give some advanced warning. It's not that hard.
 
Yeah, I must not have explained my use of the word "dedicated" well enough. I mean yes, it would be kinda wierd to say you are dedicated to the game, but like Taruwaru said, when you are in a PT, and you are all going for the same thing, be it XP, a mission or quest then you should be deicated to the group. Taruwaru actually hit the nail on the head with that one. That is what I meant when I said that the JP players were more dedicated.

And to add further Dale, I do not actually get as much time as I would like to play the game, I have too much stuff to do in my ACTUAL life that keeps me from playing all the tmie. All the people I originally started this game with last October are ultra high level now.
 
When I first posted that post I did it on a whim. What I was angry about was the people that went AFK to take a shower or go to the store where they should have not been seeking if they were going to do these activities. Some disband to go help a friend get AF gear. Things that could have waited or been dealt with before they joined a party. I understand that things come up. When you join a party you are helping Real Life people get somewhere. The least you can do is stick around for at least an hour. 2 Hours would be more apreciated.

Also I have been pissed over someone that used an Instant warp scroll to save himself from dieing and loseing exp. He died by the way and his body was transported to Jueno. It was a waste of time for him to get a chocobo and ride all the way back. It would have been faster if he died like the rest of us. I would get alot of flames in game if I warped out being a WHM if I was about to die but thats another story. The point is people need to take others in account when they party. We are not virtual characters like in the other Final Fantasy games. We are Real People sitting at home or etc. controling a character.

I just think it would be better when people form a party that they ask how long each other is staying then work out how long to level. That would work out best. Then when that one person has to go then its end of party and everyone can go their own way. Seek another party or help a friend with AF. This way would work out better wouldn't you agree.

LMAO funny! I thought about doing the same one time but feared others would take it serously and start saying OMG I hate that guy too. Cool move man lol.
 
Ehh I try to give an hours notice before I need to leave the party and I try try to find my own replacement. I also won't even look for a party unless I have at least 3-4 hours to play. The thing that burns me is when you finally get a full party and someone then says "Lets hurry up and get to killing! I've only got 15 minutes until I need to log." >< Why are you wasting our time? What are we going to get done in 15 minutes? This person just sat in one spot for an hour waiting on an invite to party for fight for 15 minutes? I just don't get it. That is almost as bad as the person who parties until he gains a lvl and then disbands becasue he has gotten what he came for. You should at least try to help everyone in the group gain a lvl before you disband IMO.

Everyone plays by different rules of conduct though...
 
I always try to give warning before I join a PT about when I'm going to leave if I can't be on for more than 2 hours. Playing a RDM/SMN/WHM as my main jobs I usually end up being one of the PT members that they absolutely need - as main or backup healer. It kinda irks me though when I"m LFG and I get a tell "Want to join" or sometimes no tell at all *grumble* and I'm like "I would absolutely love to join! But i only have an hour to play...is this okay?" Usually the group is desperate for a mage and accept right away. Things usually go pretty good and then about 10 min before I leave I start looking for a replacement and give the 10 min warning. When I can't find a replacement and bid farewell to the party they get mad! I mean I told you before I joined that I only had an hour to play....Oy! Some people's children :)

I hate the Level/Leave people though...Grah that irks me!
 
I guess I act pretty much like everyone else. As much as I'd love to be always levelling. I don't always have the time to properly level so I always give myself 2-4 hours for levelling. If I'm looking for a group for an hour and an hour is left befoe I go, I usually turn off the flag.

However, once I'm in a group, I usually do give 30 minutes notice or some type of notice when I find out I have to leave. I always feel bad leaving a good group so I try to find an exact replacement whenever possible.. If I'm a damage dealer, I ask first if i can ask someone to take my spot. Usually people are ok with this as it saves them the trouble of finding a replacement. The only times that I haven't been able to try is when the internet goes down (bloody Telus!!!) and I can't even get back on to tell my group... :(

Anyways, don't you always wonder about your reputation in the game? lol....you may have done that one little thing as a newb you don't even think about and could have been blacklisted..hehe. I think I have a decent reputation...or just a neutral one. I try to be on my best taru behaviour.

And yea Takin stupid Comments like that about silk thread as serious is more immature of you and stupid. Learn to make friend to party with and actually have fun chatting then just leveling. Thats why I party with same people over and over and over and not even in a static. Grow up

I had to laugh when i saw "Newest Registered Member: Xcalade" because of all thats been said about him....this should turn into a true-blue flame-war supreme right here....and i will be happy to watch it unravel

Now.. that's not true.. Listen up bub. You lost hate quite a lot, I remember getting hit, as Im pretty sure I would have (being the Drk I do lots of dmg = me getting hate easily) and your job as as Pld/War is to provoke whenever you can or use other hate gaining abilities like.. I dunno.. sentinal.. and if you cant use that or whatever abilities you have at your disposal e.i. spells; then you really should think of starting on a new job.

Secondly, I'm not just talking about me taking hate away from you.. the Blm's and Whms can just as easily do the same thing, and they did. Auelin had to use her voke several times, as she did (being a good secondary provoker War), point is.. she HAD to do it, not because you couldn't, because you waited too damn long before you did voke. I know theres a timer for provoke.. I lvled Warrior to 40, I think I know. However, I know that half the time you were able to voke and you just stood there as it went off to a mage or me. Granted I can take a few hits though, moreso than the mages. (I can also heal myself so I dont mind too much). Point is, you were consistantly slow to react. Being a tank, means you should know where that mob is and if it isnt on you, you had better do all in your power to make sure it gets back to you, or ask someone else to take the hate, like a Warrior or Ninja.

If it were just a one time thing I would have easily overlooked it, but your performance.. well.. just plain sucked both times I partied with you. And.. like I've said before, I had a monk hold hate better than you could.

Oh, and I do hope maybe you've learned to better yourself. Also, remember It's not good to drop out of school, if you have you should go back. Try summer school too, as im sure your still in middle school, or early high school (I am hoping you haven't dropped out yet). Also remember; Don't do drugs. Drugs are bad, Mmm'kay.

I never said anything about our party in garilage, I know that place is a deathtrap.. for bad parties. I also had the fortune of being in a kick ass party that was in that place not but a day after our pt there. That's where the monk was being the tank and never lost hate or died.. I think I already told that tale enough so thats all you need.

I can only be as good as the rest of the people im with, 1 person no matter how good you might be, being in a pt where a few dont know what exactly they are doing will not work. I knew this.. but gave it a chance. Seeing as some of our mages had waaay under leveled subjobs and at the time I believe Auelin was using a war/whm combo to boot. Still, to be honest, beyond your ability to do your job well.. what bugs me the most about you is your childish attitude. Say what you will about me, as I know you will. But there are quite a great deal of people I've played with on this board that can tell you I know what im doing and I do my job(s) well.
Even those that I have yet to play with will probably even vouch that I'm obviously way more mature/smart etc. than you are. Oh, and thanks again for coming here and proving that. Helps me prove my point even more.

i don't feel that it has to be dedication either. it's just that many people, japanese mostly(?), don't play that much. if they only play a few hours every evening, they want to get the most efficient use out of those hours. that means get into the best PT you can. sadly, some NA PTs just aren't efficient. too many AFK, bad gear, etc. wastes time. and you know how the saying goes... time is money.
