Guys just wondering what stats would affect the proc. rate/duration of status bolts?

acids - str/int?
bloodies - vit?
blind - int?
sleep - int?

Mainly wanna see what stats i should boost to improve acid bolts proc. rate on xp mobs. To me the difficulties on landing these are like weapons < bones < demons <<< golems <<<<<<< abraxe =D

so what's you guys' thought?

Bloodies Int, actually, i wouldn't be surprised if they weren't all int based.

I thought you couldnt proc bloody bolts on Bones for the same reason that you cant drain or aspir from them, cause there's nothing to drain from them.

Bloody Bolts will not proc on undead mobs or bats. Possibly other night-ish mobs, like Fomors and llamas and stuff. Demons and arcana (weapons, golems, dolls, etc) are susceptible to Bloody and Sleep bolts, I'm 90% sure.

Bloodies have a 98% proc rate... if it doesn't drain from the mob 3 hits in a row, consider the mob un-bloodyable. In fact, from my experience, all status bolts are 95%+ proc rate on mobs that are susceptible to the ailment/add'l effect.

As for stats, Bloody are affected by INT (modifies HP drained). Holy are affected by MND (modifies add'l effect dmg). Sleep are probably also INT, though the result of more INT is negligible - they have a fixed sleep duration from what I have tested, typically ~7-10 seconds. Acid bolts, I doubt have a modifier - these have been tested in Ballista to be fairly consistant at 12.5% def down. Blind would likely again be INT, modifier unknown.

Nah rorch the last line of my post was solely about acid bolts' defense down effect on xp mobs. Bloodies doesn't work on them. I just want my acids to land more often onto xp mobs. And i think i can sqeeze in some STR or INT other than racc. gears when i shoot. I am now even thinking about ratk would effect its proc. rate coz i think i had better proc. rate when i had minute or berzerk on me.

I'm not certain but there is one thingI'd like to point out fly. Bloody bolts do indeed work on bats, I've done it several times. However the proc rate is very poor on them. Infact I've only seen it work on <too weak> bats.

Bats just have very very high Dark resist, I'm assuming that would affect Bloody Bolts as well. It's hard for me to sleep anything higher than DC bats even with capped enfeebling magic + enfeebling gear.

I've only recently begun trying to land these on the pull, so I can offer minor experience. During my one xp session using Acid Bolts, I had 100% proc on weapons in sky. Terribly accuracy, but every hit = add'l effect.

Jag - noted. Never tried on TW bats, I thought they were completely immune. Thanks for the info.

BS you didnt proc acid bolts on every shot on weapons. unless you only hit it 5 times total. In sky I proc 4/5 times roughly. from leveling ranger from 1-75 i think id ahve to guess that acid bolts proc 75% of the time as an average. You can drain off bats just not frequently. BTW I think Bloody Bolts are 100% on all mobs that dont resist drain. When i skilled up marksmanship on thief i used 4-5 stacks of bloody bolts and every mob I hit in Rolanberry Fieldss proc'ed. (didnt use weapons or ghosts though)

As a general rule if a blm can sleep it well so can Sleep bolts. Same with Bloody, blind and venom.

Sleep arrows also have a much lower proc rate than sleep bolts btw.

Bloody bolts are not 100%. I've failed drain on exp mob crabs before.

Maybe INT is a factor, and I don't doubt that, but I have noticed something else.

R.acc.

With higher accuracy, your bolts not only land more, but proc more.
You know how nukes and enfeebles are accuracy related as well and INT or MND related? Same shit.

All status bolts have a chance of not processing. They can be resisted just like any other status.
To solidify some statements, bats can be drained rarely and bloodies can connect and not proc.

To touch on my R.acc. notion (cough* fact) just take RNG vs THF. RNG has higher R.acc and WILL proc status bolts more often.

I landed about ~20 acid bolts throughout the night, every single one proc'd. Maybe it was a streak of good luck, but it aint BS.

I was pretty sure that Bloody is VIT based.
I'll take anyone's word on this at the moment. This thread is the first time I've ever heard of VIT being affiliated with Bloody Bolts, and haven't had a chance to do any testing myself. I've heard one guy say that going /BLM (inadvertently forgot to change his sub) gave him a noticable boost in the add'l effect, but it wasn't a controlled experiment and it may have been the mob / day / moon phase or some stupid crap like that.

Sneaky i am more tend to believe ratk helps the proc. of acids more rather than racc. And i think that's the reason y rng has an easier time to make it proc. on xp mobs.

For acids, when i go solo on EPs it proc. for me everytime, unless it's a peryton(light based). Also, I think demons in range and aura statues are about the same lvl but golems has much higher defense than demon. According to my experience I have a much easier time to land acids effect onto demons than golems. (I can get a dry run for 5/5 acids not proc. where i usually get 70% proc. rate on demons) So that leads me to thinking ratk prolly plays a factor into it.

It probably does. I've never said it was only one thing.
As far as the equations play out, I'm sure several things factor in.

I still firmly believe that your degree of accuracy is a major part of how the status factors in or doesn't process at all.

I kind of look at it like you are firing a status bolt into a target on the MOB. In the dead center of that target, would be its weakest spot and you would be most accurate. The r.attk, I view as how deep the bolt goes into the MOB. The bolt is tipped with a status effect, and if you can really bury it in the MOB, and get it close to the weak spot, you are more likely to successfully process the status.

Again, I'm sure there are several things that factor in to success or failure.

Your marksmanship skill has a lot to do with whether or not the status will proc. Try blinding an exp bat, and then try blinding an easy prey one. Also, you can drain from bats if they are a much lower level than they are.
