Steel Cyclone gear.....

Sky:
Getting access is really easy. It takes about a week of running through cut scenes and battles on a casual basis to get and about a day if you go full throttle through each provided you can get people to help for each fight. The fights are all uncapped so finding people isn't too difficult if they're willing to go. Work on this first as it's the most important. Possible rewards: Divine Might earring, Byakko's Haidates/Axe, Neptunal Abjurations, Wyrmal Abjurations(PLD) and Martial Abjurations (PLD).

Sea:
A lot more effort to get sea primarily because fights are capped and located in treacherous dungeons which are used for very little besides those BC fights. Finding help will probably be almost as bad as the fights themselves. Can be done in a month casually or a week if you went full throttle. POssible Rewards: Rajas/Sattva/Tamas ring, Apocalypse Night Earring (need RoZ done), Sea Torques/Gorgets, and Homam (PLD).

ZNM:
Can be done by any group without any missions or quests needing to be done. Great thing is almost any player can get points at any given time and they don't need to compete with anyone for them. You can basically ask anyone who's getting photos and 99% would be obliged to join up. Tier 1-2 can be done a relatively easily and accomplished by most social LS with a fair amount of 75 players. Tier 3; however, it gets a bit more difficult, but it's nothing extremely hard. I suggest going for Armed Gears, I believe it's slightly easier than the alternative (Achamoth?) as long as you get a decent group. PLD/NIN, WHM, RDM, BRD, THF and lots of BLMs should be able do this relatively easily. You can straight tank or kite, I've seen both work. Rewards: Aurum and Hachiryu sets, primarily Aurum Sabots.

Unfortunately, upgrading is going to be time consuming and expensive, but I am sure you already knew that.

Weapon: Byakko's Axe/Perdu Volge.
Grip: Pole Grip
Ranged: Bomb Core/Bomblet
Head: Walhara Turban/Optical Hat
Neck: Fortitude/Peacock Charm/CC
Earrings: Brutal+Assault/Fowling/Minuet
Body: Hauberk
Hands: Dusk/Neptunal
Rings: Sniper/Rajas/STR rings
Back: Amemet+1/Forager's/Cerb/Cuchalain
Waist: Potent/Life Belt/Swift Belt/Warwolf
Legs: Byakko's Haidates
Feet: Amir/Aurum Sabots/Dusk/Unicorn/Neptunal

Now, obviously this isn't what you wanted to see, but it really is the best. There are other options, but they do not produce as well as the above listed items. For now, with your lack of gil, get the thick set(level 67-68), W. Turban, Perdu Volge, Sniper's Ring, Amemet+1 and Life Belt/Potent. I think those will produce the best overall improvements for the least amount of gil.

For TP:
Load on tons of Haste. W.Turban, Dusk gloves, Swift Belt, Byakko's Haidates and Aurum Sabots are the most popular choices and relatively easily obtained by the average player. In the remaining slots, use accuracy or Double Attack where you can get it except back where there really isn't much besides STR/attack capes.

WS:
Load on STR, but do not forgoe too much accuracy or you'll miss. Neptunal is great option because it has large amounts of STR and some DEX as well which will help with additional accuracy and for Raging Rush, it helps increase chance of criticals.

Raging Rush vs. Steel Cyclone.
Steel Cyclone has it's places, but not really in experience parties. Don't get me wrong, it can produce great results especially at 300%, but on average, RR will do more in exp. Reserve SC for /THF since it's a single hit WS and adding SA will guarantee a crit and 100% accuracy (provided it doesn't turn). Raging Rush is a great WS if you have the accuracy. It's a three hit WS that can crit which is why it's important to mix STR, DEX and accuracy to get the best overall damage whereas for SC, load up on STR first and foremost since you'll be pairing it with Sneak Attack.
you missed a few pieces
Weapon: Byakko's Axe/Perdu Volge.

and if going go /nin you still better off just going axe/axe in which case should use suppa instead of minuet.

After the two-handed update in no way or form do two AH axes compete with an AH greataxe. You need some really pimp gear to pull that off, which our poster does not have, hence this topic in the first place.

I still think A/A still has its places. If you can eat attack food with A/A and still connect consistently it should be able to do outdo GA. Mostly this would be in Sky, Limbus and Dynamis only and this is assuming you are /NIN for both weapons.

Personally, i'd rather just use my GA everywhere i go because it saves me 2 inventory spaces. It's just not worth keeping 2 axes around when they'll so rarely be used and even then it would only be because i was bored of looking at the KJ/RR animation, not because it would do much more damage.

Oh, you can add non-boss floor Nyzul to your list too, a blind monkey could cap accuracy there.

For me I only had NIN and WAR @ 75 when I was still playing so having the space for 2 Axes and multiple GAs was never an issue for me. But yea I would just switch between the 2 depending on my mood.

Also adding to the topic, Genbu's Kabuto would be the only thing I could think of that was VIT only that you should use for your SC setup. But there are a few other choices out there that would be better (Nhead, Ares Mask and Unicorn Cap) but this is way easier to obtain compared to the others. Yes I know you don't have sky access now but I'm sure you will get it eventually.

I was tempted to mention Genbu's but he outright mentioned he didn't have Sky so I opted out. I'm sure he knows what it is, and head is a pretty weak slot for str/atk gear.

If you get to Sky, lot the kabuto. It should be mostly free to existing shells nowadays.

Honestly, I dont touch dual wield at all. My DRK and my WAR never been beat by a dual wielding WAR (with exception to Ridill users). Get a well geared GA WAR and you are set in 99% of situations.

Thanks for all the help guys, i was looking at some gear pieces and found some that i could have both dex and the same amount of str, busting out 1K RR pretty consistent now.

I'd still like to have an idea of a good SC setup (i will assume it' used on gods or endgame stuff exclusively by most wars)

as far as sky goes, i would love to get access and be able to do gods but just don't have the time to do gods until i get a permanent full time job (damn layoffs =/)

Him only having ah gear would be more of a reason for him use a/a when /nin. Doubt he could afford a martial gaxe so that take SC out picture. Since he don't have sky mean he don't have byakko I assume he prob don't do assault either meaning no perdu. Be much better spaming rampage then Rage Rush and using sushi(since little acc gear). Or just going /sam and let the other /nin's hold the hate.

The huge ACC bonus to first hit is to all WS (unless otherwise stated; slugshot, sidewinder). Don't use ACC gear in SC. Don't believe me? Parse your ACC% and use SC.

Using Martial Bhuj in merits is counter productive; you're using a shitty GA, thus lowering DoT, to make a shitty WS slightly better, but not better than KJ or RR.

A/A is obsolete for WAR. Regardless of gear/merits, as long as you use the same comparison for both A/A and GA, GA will always win.

Please, show the slightest piece of evidence to back this up. Don't throw some wild accusations around and say "go test it yourself", why? couldn't you be bothered?

As far as I know its not proven but seems to be accepted. Anyone who leveled Samurai or Ranger can attest to the frustration of outright missing a big weaponskill (Sidewinder, Slugshot, Yuki/Gekko/Kasha). That said, most multi-hit weaponskills will land the initial hit. You don't see a lot of single-digit returns, i.e. my King's Justice resulting in 17 or 18% and not 1 or 2%. That initial hit tends to land more often than not.

This is hardly evidence, but I'm of the opinion there's some sort of accuracy bonus to most weaponskills.

As for a/a being better with AH gear:

He posted his list of gear. He's missing Amemet+1. You want him to dual-wield axes? Which, Maneater and Woodsville? Gawain's Axe is a solid greataxe for far, far cheaper than that pair. For the price of those two axes I'm fairly certain he could buy Amemet+1 at current rates.

This is rubbish.

4 hit WS, if you miss the initial hit you lose the TP from a full hit but gain 3TP from hitting all the following. If you miss ANY single hit from swing 2,3 or 4 it shows the same TP return, there's simply 75% chance that IF you miss one hit, it will be one of the 3 follow ups.

I know how TP returns work.

As a career warrior using multi-hit skills the entire game, I'm saying I've personally seen more misses on the extra hits than the first. I'm guessing lots of people have, hence the belief that the first hit has some mystical accuracy bonus.

Edit: Also, facing certain directions helps crafting. You don't have to believe it, or you can, but neither way is proven.

Around 3-1 average maybe?

*first post in months, damn you Lyall*

Since nobody seems to be able to cite their sources here, have fun.

http://www.bluegartrls.com/forum/ff...18-yuki-gekko-kasha-attack-bonus-testing.html

Covers how Gekko (And by extension Ground Strike, Spinning Slash, and Steel Cyclone) have gigantic attack bonuses, to the point where you can debate using Smilodon+1 over Amemet+1 as long as you're getting more than Food attack boost. Also has this little gem for the "single hit WS accuracy" discussion:

As for the accuracy bonus discussion in the other thread, I don't remember if I already said this or not but I did a quick test about YGK acc bonus using a stack of blinding potions on Lesser Colibris with Soboro.
My Hit Rate was ~30% while my WS Acc was 80-85% (only 30 WSs performed, but enough to give a rough estimation) which seems to be a 50% hit rate bonus or an Accuracy+100 bonus.... imo, enough not to worry about acc in almost all situations.

Small sample, but exact statistics don't matter here, it's enough to prove that there's at least -some kind -of bonus. The actual number in "the other thread", that I got sick of looking for in http://www.bluegartrls.com/forum/ffxi-standard-discussion/ since it's buried under hundreds of other threads, was thought to be around +50-70 accuracy during single-hit WS, and was cited at least a dozen times in other threads while I was looking for it.

This all applies to single-hit WS's, there was a similar, smaller bonus demonstrated on multi-hit WS's first hit demonstrated by a JP NIN.

That's the closest thing to evidence I've ever seen, but honestly i have a very hard time believing it.
