Can anyone provide information about it's use and practicality in respect
to a Beastmaster? In one post in the BST forums they mention using
<stnpc> in your macros so you can quickly recharm your pet
without disengaging from battle first.

If that works then It would save obout 4 hits on me to recharm.
(about 2 hits from prior pet and 2 from the xp-mob)

Then, how would that look in your macro?
/ja "Charm" <?>
(I can't remember mine, I believe it's <t>)

I suppose you can put
/ja Charm <stnpc>
and tab-key till you target your pet then press enter

yeah, I have /ja Charm <stnpc>. What that does is pop up the secondary (blue) target arrow. I then tab to what I want to charm, and hit enter. The primary (gold) arrow remains where it was, so that once I've re-charmed my pet I can immediatly give it the Fight command again to put it back on my target. ;)

I use something similar to this or exactly this do hunt NM. I just stand there, activate the macro and wait for the poor sob to spawn. Saves you a few mili-seconds I guess.....

Darn!!!!! Now I've gone and tell the world my ultimate voking method!! I even have been accused of using a 3rd party software for "Provoking" too fast....

J/K but it really helps the targeting! :)

You can do the same thing by picking "Charm" from the quick menu in the corner, however, it's a lot slower.

Also note that <st> and <stnpc> both work; the only difference is that <st> can target players and NPCs, while <stnpc> only targets NPCs (if you're wondering, <stpc> can only target players). I don't know if Charm will let you move the blue arrow to a party member, but I know that this does make a difference for some spells and abilities (like Cure, which can target monsters so it's a good idea to use <stpc> instead of just <st> in Cure macros).

<st> works too, I use this for pulling.
something like:

/p <t> {Found it!} {Ready!}?
/shoot <st>
*then after party or mages say yes I hit enter and it continues*
/p Incoming <t>!

Nice, thanks. I'll experiment with it while soloing. When I get the hang
of it, I'll use it in a duo.

On a somewhat related note, <lastst> changes to whatever you last selected with any of the <st> variants, which is useful for party reports.

For example my cure macros as blm/whm are of the form:

/ma "Cure II" <stpc>
/p Cure II >>> <lastst>

This has the advantange of not losing your primary target on the mob you are fighting (after the <stpc> you can quickly tap one of the F keys to select the appropiate party members) and informing the main healer and the rest of the party what you are doing.

Guys/Gals, This is the BEST! Thanks for the help.
I tested it out and ultimately had to make two macros.

ALT+1 = /ja "Charm" <t>
ALT+7= /ja "Charm" <stnpc>

Originally, I made ALT+1 (main charming macro) the stnpc only.
After several accidental ALT+TABs slamming me to the desktop, I've
decided to make two macros.

I am just too used to <t> macro. I keep my left hand on: TAB, CNTRL,
and "C" so that I can run around and check mobs all of the time. If I see
one that I want, I just move my hand to ALT+1. With the <stnpc>, you
need to tab then hit enter and I got confused and kept DC'ing myself.

SO, what works for me is I still use my normal charm when I have no
pet. I ONLY use <stnpc> macro while engaged in a fight to recharm a
mob. THANK YOU ALL, this is extremely fast and I only loose one axe
swing and take about one hit instead of taking 4-6 hits.
