WTF is with everyone saying people who play the PS2 version are all n00bs? I suppose they are newer than someone who got the PC version in October, but if I were to buy the PC version today, and you were to buy the PS2 version today, how am I a better player than you automatically? One is displayed on a Monitor, one is on a TV. One uses a controller and keyboard, one uses a mouse and keyboard. One has better graphics, but needs a relatively new computer, one will run on any PS2 system but has lower-res graphics.

One thing to think about is the PS2 version came out first in Japan, so they were probably whining about the PC n00bs when it came out for PC there.
 
I don't think that people really mean to bash ps2 players, it's more the ps2 ERA and all of the 14-17 year olds that come with it.

That's where the real problem is.

A mature person, is mature no matter what system they are on.
 
Agreed. And if these insults arnt characteristic of you, reguardless of platform, then you should in no way be offended.

I Yeah, I just hate when people stereotype against me, especially about age, lol (I am 15, anyone who calls me a n00b in this game needs to get out more :wink: )
 
I, am a PS2er, and I am proud.
 
Oh, and for the record:

Saying that people need to get out more, play less, or have no life, is really fucking lame and immature. Its VERY characteristic of the PS2 Era players, and its hyper-hypocritical.
 
I generally bash PS2ers because many of them are first time MMORPGers. A lot of them are young, like stated above, and so theyre the ppl who beg, are selfish, dont help others a lot but expect to be helped, just overall have a lot of learning to do. I know a lot of PS2ers have played other MMORPGs before and some are the exact opposite, even if they havent played any online rpg before, thats more of a maturity thing.
 
I play on a PS2, but that's because I don't own a Windows PC. All my machines run Unix in one form or another.

But I do see a lot of the anti-PS2 hate talk. I prefer to single people out rather than stereotype the whole crowd. The game has been on PS2 for many months now, and I guess I don't really think anyone can be considered a noob with lvl 30+ jobs (though I am increasingly starting to find people who I honestly have no idea how they ever made it past lvl 20 with the way they play).

BUT... I suspect the "problem" with the PS2 is the way the crowd ends up getting the game. The game isn't actually "sold" for the PS2. It's given away free when you buy the hard disk for the PS2 -- along with 30 days free trial.

If you're a PC player, you probably deliberately bought the game because you liked it or are into MMORPGs. If you're a PS2 player then there's a strong chance you ended up with the game as a side-effect of buying a hardware accessory and getting a month of free play. I DO know a lot of PS2 players who actually wanted this game and played MMORPGs before.
 
I for one bought the game because I wanted too...i could have bought it for the comp...but I like playing off of the TV better...my roomate would say otherwise...he doesn't get to watch much TV when I'm playing :lol:
 
Well, here's my 2 cents.

When the majority of them stop being whiney dickhead assholes, who can't play their job and don't take advice from someone with 83 + days of played time, then I'll start being nice to them. But in the meantime, I'm going to go ahead and say that (not as a whole mind you) but, MOST of them are ignorant. I have 2 jobs that are 50+ which doesn't make me special or anything but, I hate leveling in anything but my static party now, because my ranger is 55 and the ps2oobs have reached that level, and most of them don't know how to play and it's just retarded. When you're level 55 and you dont know how to play your class, then you probably deserve to be called an idiot.

I don't know, it's not right to call of them of stupid, but when you tell someone their doing a bad job or you're trying to give them some advice about how to do their job a little better, and they say (this is a direct quote from several of the newbs I've dealth with lately) "UR A FUKING DICKHEAD YOU HAVE NO LIFE GO GET SOME EXERSiSE FATTY !!! GET A LIFE OMG UR MOM!!!!111 U SUK MY NUTZ" This is a bit irritating. So anyway, this post probably comes off more as a rant than my input but, it's what bugs me.

That's an interesting way of looking at it, I've always looked at it that the HDD is included with FFXI. FFXI is the entire reason I bought the HDD.
 
Any group, be it PS2 players, or Republicans, is judged by the actions of a few highly visible members of that group. Is that fair? Nope, but life isn't fair.

Having said that, the cost of console hardware in comparison with PC hardware is reponsible for the fact that a lot of PS2 players are kids. Kids are immature, that is what kids are supposed to be. However, once you throw these kids into the same pool that has adults in it, adults that may be working a 40 hour week and are just happy to be able to spend a few hours playing an online game, well ...

... then you get situations where the mature players expect everyone in the game to be equally mature, instead they hit these kids who are simply not like that, and in the resulting chaos those who are more mature bash those who are not.

This is not to say that maturity is necessarily a function of age, but overall speaking it is fair to assume that a 12yo is less mature than a 24yo.

Done and done, personally I would rather not see a game that allows console and PC players to play in the same crowd.

But you have to realize that most that are around your age are not mature, and 9/10 they are the ones /shouting the obsenities.

I have played with several ppl under 18, and they were great. I also know a few high lvl PS2 players that are so good, they are often mistaked for JP's.

As with any stereotype there are exceptions to the rule. But remember, stereotypes are what they are for a reason, and usualy very accurate.
 
Generally I agree with Squirrelin in saying that if people only suck singularly. You can't blame a whole group of people for what one person does, even if there are a lot of people doing it. I dunno about you guys, but I've come to realize that stereotyping in *any* form is just pointless and immature. It takes an intelligent individual to realize that, if people are to be judged, it can only be done on an individual basis. I imagine there would be a lot more trouble if people came on here and started spouting off about how black players suck at the game. I'll admit that there are a *lot* of stupid people in vana diel these days, but there's no possible way to say that they're stupid *because* they're playing on a ps2, or that they're stupid *because* they're not japanese. You have to judge by actions, not by the issues beyond peoples' control. Stereotyping and hating ps2ers is just an abstract form of racism, like it or not, and the people that do it are just sinking themselves to the same level as the people who really are assholes. The world is probably full of assholes, get over it... Final Fantasy 11 is a game, get over it... Like eleibfrid said I'm a ps2er and I'm proud. If you don't like someone, don't play with them. That's why we have linkshells.
 
PSTwoobie is more of a referance to the era in which they started; rather than which system they play on. It takes an intellegent person to read an entire thread and not assume that people who 'stereotype' are lesser people.

Ok...I've been checking in on this forum every once in awhile. I might have posted once but not sure (just don't feel like looking). Let's see if I can figure this out :roll: . Some of you (PC peeps) say that the PS2 age of players who now play are noobs/immature, due to their age or because of their newness to the game? The other side (PS2 peeps) resent this because it's not fair to say their immature just because they play on PS2?

Is this the argument? Please let me know if I'm missing anything. :?
 
Totally missing it.

PS2 is being reffered to as a time period IE: PS2 Era.

Along with that era, a great deal of young players were introduced to the game IE: 13-17 year olds.

Now a lot of peolpe in that age group are rather immature. These are the ones /shouting obsenities at the AH, or sending those aweful /tells. I guess for some they can say things that they are not usually allowed to, maybe the others its the norm in their house :? sad though.

Now, as I said earlier, there are A LOT of good people out there, no matter what age. But unfortunately 9/10 people that we compain about are in that age group, playing on that system.
