In the last four or five parties I've been in, about half the melee DDs I've had in my parties have subbed thief. I'm only 51, so they didn't have trick attack.

Please sub warrior, melees of Quetz! This is not a flame but a request!

Here's why, if you are one of these thief-subbers:

1. Berserk. You will do far more damage over time and even WS damage with berserk up than with a single Sneak Attack every minute.

2. Berserk. That wasn't a joke.

3. Double Attack. Berserk is enough reason on its own, but Double Attack will increase your damage over time and give you TP faster, so use it.

No excuses. Sub war. Not joking.

Yeah.. Thf sub before trick attack (Lvl. 60) is pretty pointless and even when you get trick attack its still only useful for certain jobs. Hands down, War sub is the way to go for any melee till atleast level 60.

No offence but people aren't going to change their trends just because of what one person says, hell even if you've got alot of people on your side against them it still most likely won't have an impact on them.

I'm not saying I disagree with you, in fact I couldn't agree with you more, but i've been arguing this case in game for quite a while now and it's changed nothing. You're wasting your breath.

Flame me if you must, you egotistical, Nazi-Nazi, my-way-or-the-highway bandwagoners, but there's really only ONE viable subjob for melees - Summoner.

Anything else is sheer n00bery.

yep pretty much sums it up. Also lot people are lazy to lvl more then one sub for a job. ; ;

maybe they like the sound that comes when using sneak attack :O
me likes lots

I was leveling my DRk at 35 and my party said they'd kick me out if I didn't sub THF.
So I subbed THF.
Go them all killed, ran away and zoned out of the Crawlers Nest. I keep running to Jeuno.

well i think it is ok for melee to /war or /thf, both sub have something to offer to help the main. at least better than a DRK i party with at lvl 33, that mithra DRK had whm sub -_- i dont know what help that gonna help, but we got WHM and PLD.

Oh it's so on now I am making a DRG/SMN!!!!! ^^

Never mind the sub thf agony how about sub ninja, its like every single melee at 75 has it, I bet if SE raised using Ni one lv to lv 38 ninja over half the melees in the game would be lost without their extra shadows.

I've never been a fan of cookie-cutter job styles I sub war on my drk even though many at my lv sub thf, my damage output is still high and I dont consider losing berserk, double attack, and attack up triats from war worth a crict hit every minute on /thf.

Totally tanking PLD/SMN. Shining Ruby for more defense, Healing Ruby for even more curing power. Now we're set!

Ninja is the most widely used subjob for many job because it gives more survivability to your character a whole - it lets people not hold back as much as well as not need to rely on someone nearly as much to save them if they grab hate. It's more a convenience to the entire party than it is the person subbing it, really.

Making Utsu: Ni 38 would break Ninja as a subjob and make it virtually worthless. A more logical approach would to make it so Utsusemi has a percent chance the real person gets hit instead of the shadow, proportionate to how many shadows are even left (i.e. you+ one shadow = 50% chance you still get hit, you + 2 shadows = 33% chance you still get hit, etc.)

It only makes sense...

Regarding /THF vs /WAR, dead horse. WAR makes for more damage whereas /THF is more of a hate transfer tool. If the tank doesn't have hate issues, /THF is pointless. If he does, /WAR is hazardous. /THF isn't at all useless, it's just generally not needed since if there's a hate issue, the party can typically get a THF main, thus...making subbing it totally uneeded.

P.S. Need more lowbies subbing RNG or DRG.

Agreed for the most part, however blu/thf owns. And blu/war at any lvl pretty much sucks.
