Store TP Calculations

14% speed to your 100% TP goal is a hard thing to sacrifice, especially if you are wielding a Hagun. That's the difference between 6 hit vs 7 hit build, and why Sam's sacrifice the foot slot for the most part to get that 6 hit build. With Usukane Sune-Ate, there is no sacrifice, and have the added haste and accuracy. Of course, accuracy is most important to make sure you keep that continuous 14% speed, then you can focus on other haste gear in the head, waist, pants, hands slot to make that 6 hit even faster. I really hope they release a Store TP +5 grip, that would open up the foot slot for many possibilities for the 99% who dont have Usukane Sune-Ate's. Also to note, natively, if you use Hasso, Store-TP merits, and 6 hit build, you have yourself 24% speed increase to 100%TP prior to haste gear, songs, or spell.

Semi off-topic (sorry), but from what I've seen, Sipahi Jawshan doesn't give a set increase...moreso just increases based on your critical rate vs a specific mob. That is, your DEX would need to be way, way, way above the mob's, as well as have critical merits and the +6% critical weapon for it to really be worth it.

That is to say...it's possibly better than Haub if the mob is WAY lower level than you, but that's about it...in which case you'd probably be fighting something like TWs so what armor you wore wouldn't really even matter anyhow. So all-in-all it's cute on Mithra but otherwise shouldn't even be worn outside town. =P

Good for 60 cap Ballista. (The Sipahi body).

See... Here's where I get kinda fuzzy...

I like Store-TP and all, but I get this odd feeling it's not all it's cracked up to be.

Either I could:

a) pile on Store-TP gear and get let's say a 6 hit set.

or...

b) pile on Haste gear, and in the same time as a six hit set do a 7 hit set.

I argued this in another post, but imo:

Ace's Helm, Justice Torque, Fowling Earring, Brutal Earring.
Askar Korazin, Dusk Gloves, Rajas Ring, Shiper's Ring.
Cerberus Mantle, Swift Belt, Byakko's Haidate, and AF2.(could do Fuma).

Is better than what I see most sams in.

The above settup has:

20 Str.
25 Dex.
+29 Accuracy.
+49 Attack.
+11 Store-TP.
+16% Haste.
+7% Double Attack.

With a 450 delay weapon (11.5% Base), I can get 15.1 TP/swing. (7 hits in 52.5 seconds before haste.) 7 swings in 44 seconds.

or:

Ace's Helm
Chivalrous Chain
Fowling Earring
Brutal Earring
Hachiman Domaru
Hachiman Kote
Rajas Ring
Sniper's Ring +1
Cerberus Mantle
Potent Belt
Byakko's Haidate
Hachiman Sune-ate

30 Str.
20 Dex.
+40 Accuracy.
+15 Attack.
+28 Store-TP.
+4% Haste.
+5% Double Attack.

With a 450 delay weapon (11.5% Base), I can get 16.7 TP/swing. ( 6 hits in 45 seconds before haste.) 6 swings in 43.2 seconds.

Both of those are pre-merit.

Point 1) Imo, I'd rather do more damage with the extra hit, than bank on Store-TP.

Point 2) Either way, meriting Store-TP wont dramatically affect your gains too much. I figured Meriting Zanshin would be better. For me, Zanshin seems to proc about 25% of the misses, meritign prings that up to 30%, so 1 in 3 hits gets another chance to hit. You add Ikishoten capped to that, every zanshit hit that connects gives you an additional 9-TP. So it's almost worth it to miss.
At 80% accuracy, 20% being Zanshined to 6 attempts at 80% accuracy, 4 of those missed hits will connect for +9 TP on base (23.1 & 26.7 respective to the builds.)

so let's say 5 minutes of constant swinging:

Build 1: ~48 swings, @80% accuracy = 38 swings +3 Zanshin'd, = 652.14 TP (6 WS)

Build 2: ~42 Swings, @80% accuracy = 34 swings +2 Zanshin'd, = 619.2 TP (6 WS)

If: Each swing either way does 100 Dmg/Swing, then Build 1 will do aproximately 500 damage more. (4,100 Damage vs. 3,600 Damage.)

That's just somethign to think about. Idk how accurate it is, but it's what I thought about .

To skew things further, add Usukane Sune-Ate to the equation.

Your first setup is too light on ACC in my opinion. I'm not a fan of eating sushi, and I'm pretty sure you'd have to even with Zanshin merits. Maybe you could possibly parse 80% in the mire eating meat with that, but it's questionable. I'd love to test it out, but I haven't got my Korizan just yet.

Also, your first example with Rajas Ring + Askar Korizan is a 6-hit setup if you've got full store TP merits. I won't knock Zanshin too hard since a few SAM's go that route, but imho you shouldn't put too much faith in an ability that requires you to miss, and contrary to your speculation a 6-hit setup is a beautiful thing with the right setup.

An ideal haste / 6-hit setup (with stp merits)

Turban
pcc
bushinomimi
brutal
habuy+1
hachiman Kote +1
Snipers +1
Rajas Ring
Foragers
Swift Belt
Haidate
Fumas

+17% haste + 6-hit 100 TP setup all combined into 1. You could always go with Dusk Gloves and Zanshin Merits for 20% haste, but your only gaining 3% haste, and there's no way that makes up for 1 whole attack round.

You also get +50 acc (counting DEX), which is enough to eat Hedghog pie and parse 90% accuracy just about anywhere there aren't Lurkers. (assuming full GK merits)

Also, just to note. With the setup I listed you only need 4/5 Store TP merits for the 6-hit setup to work, so you can always toss 1 merit into Zanshin and max out Ikishoten.

While I don't dissaggree with you, on most of the other stuff, Accuracy really doesn't seem to be an issue 90% of the time, if I need more I have a set for it. The 80% accuracy number I stated was from my ass. Idk how I parse personally. Hachiman Kote seem like they are just shit to me, all the different stats you toss away for 1% TP, it just seems that it's really not worth it.

Back to the accuracy, had I swapped out for a Bushinomimi, my set would be only lacking 8 accuracy, 5 if I used a PCC over Justice torque, but LOL at that =P . To me, the added Double Attack 2% and STP was worth the -10 accuracy. The Zanshin made more sense to me as well being that if it's 5% return off the top end, at let's say 80% accuracy, that's 4 hits back garunteed. That's 4% Accuracy off the top end that's aproximately 15 - 20 accuracy gear you'd need to wear. Things that add your damage to your top end, like Haste, Double Attack, Multi Hits, Zanshin, etc, are the #1 priority in most cases. If I got a Speed belt, I could remove 3 accuracy, and add 5 attack to my score, as well as 2% haste, that 2% Haste is 25 damage off the top end compared to Swift, and the Accuracy/Attack are pretty much interchangeable in those higher numbers.

But I'd Love to go merit with you. Kinda hate having all this Math floating on Assumptions and shit that looks good on paper lol... I need to add my last Zanshin merit, and start/finish doing GK merits before that happens though. But send me a pm if you wanna goof off in game in my current state.

Sounds good to me. I'll get up with you in the next few weeks.

Don't forget that you can stack Store TP gear in your WS macros, too. You lose some STR in the process, but you can get away with less Store TP in your melee/TP gain gear.

In my WS macro, I use the following:

Hachiman Kote (+8 ),
Hachiman Domaru (+6),
Hachiman Sune-Ate (+5),
Myn. Haidate+1 (+4),
Rajas Ring (+5),
Chiv. Chain (+1),
Brutal Earring (+1).

With full Store TP merits, this allows me to melee in only the Rajas, Chiv. Chain, and Brutal, and still maintain a 6-hit build. Will the extra haste I can now use make up for the slight reduction in WS damage? I'm not sure, but I'm pleased with the results so far.

When you say 6-hit build, I take it that's before counting the TP granted from the previous WS (or includes a proper WS as one of the 6 hits)?

Idk...

that's like Driving in your living room.

The whole point of a 5/6 hit build is to get to Pile on your WS gear and max out Damage potential. If you're sacrificing Str/Attack/Accuracy on your WS swing for Store TP, you might be missing the point of the process.

Idk if I assumed too much. But you basically wanted a 'macroless' gear settup. Rarely, if ever do they actually work. They are the kind of stuff that people comment that you WS in your TP gear or TP in your WS gear. All and all you don't get taken seriously, and invites wane. It's a sign of lazyness.

That WS set you showed is 22 Str. (in Just that gear). In just those 7 slots you can get upwards 35 Str. if not more. (Osode/Haub+1, Alky' Brc., Sura, Rutters, etc...).

I personally always had Issue with certain SAM gear, JSE body is one of them. It looks good, but to anyone that can do the math... it's really not. You're sacrificing, compared to a NQ Haub, 10 Accuracy, 10 Attack, and 5 dex, for 1/2 of 1 % towards a Weapon Skill, and 3 Str. At 75, that 12.5 Attack/Accuracy translates into about 7% damage, if your attack/accurracy is ~350. Is 7% damage worth the sacrifice to TP in to get to your WS 0.5% faster?

Meanies! I own the puffy shirt of death and I love it :D

And don't deny that I look cuter than usual in it when I do wear it :p

<3Tristam
you'll only love it till you get your own hauby. then you be like "WTF was i thinking!?"

Pro setup:

Walahra Turban
Justice Torque
Bushinomimi
Brutal Earring
Haubergeon+1
Dusk Gloves
Rajas Ring
Snipers/Woodsman/Divisor/etc. Ring
Forager's Mantle
Speed Belt
Byakko's Haidate
Usukane Sune-ate

Nets you 21% haste and a 6 hit build with +35 Store TP through natural abilities and +13 Store TP on your gear (+48 Store TP total). If you drop on WS down to even +41 Store TP you still keep the 6 hit build since you were slightly over the +45 level during TP build.

Nyosan, you have way too much Store TP gear on. Tone it down for meaningful stats.

Orestes, I think you'll find you do better with Dusk Gloves and Hachiman Sune-ate+1(or Usukane Sune-ate for certain) over Fuma's and Hachiman Kote. With Hachiman Kote you have +5 str which is only +2.5 attack and then gain +3% haste off boots. Flip it, Dusk Gloves is +3% haste and +5 attack then you have Hachiman Sune-ate+1 for 3 str which is 1.5 atk. 2.5 attack and 3% haste versus 6.5 attack and 3% haste. You'll still have sufficient Store TP given your other gear for a 6 hit build. With a +1 Sune-ate you can safely go to your usual WS setup, with NQ Sune-ate you might fall 1 point short since you got PCC and I have lolChivChain still.

To the guy in the Sipahi Jawshan, LOL! Get a Haubergeon, +1 if you have the money. Worth every damn penny.

To OP, I wouldn't concern yourself with any particular build at 50. If you have a Rajas or 1 piece of Shinimusha to get you to the 25 Store TP level, that is sufficient. You need to maintain your other stats and not sacrifice acc/dmg for Store TP. Remember, if you cannot hit, Store TP doesn't matter.

And... a shameless plug for my Samurai wiki (work in progress):

Ace's Helmmmmmmm......!

you have a "Pro" settup and you place the oil-rag-o-doom on your precious lil head?

Hell, even a Askar head would be marginally better.

you'll only love it till you get your own hauby. then you be like "WTF was i thinking!?"

i had a hauby for two days. i was like "wtf is this shit" sipahi jawshan serves its purpose for me, i don't miss often enough to warrant having a haubergeon. i'll be swapping to hauberk @ 69, but i just didn't see the necessity for a haubergeon that ways back.
