per job (SAM, MNK, NIN, DRG, WAR), what do you guys think would be the correct amount (read: balance) of str and atk gear for tping in? on say... imps and another amount, or same, for puks.

i tp lately, +25STR +59atk as sam(pre-food) ... 28dex 10haste thou

wondering if wearing swordbelt+1, one acc ring (maybe) and downing sushi would yeild better results then 2 str rings and life belt w/ meat...or even warwolf, 2 str ring and sushi

As NIN I use sushi, only +34 attack, and +9 str for TPing (not counting food and the attack you get from str though). Most of my gear is dual wield/accuracy/haste focused for TP. There's really no point in wearing str rings over accuracy rings unless you're hitting the attack cap >.>

And meleeing in warwolf belt is just lol.

It depends on your job. STR is more for powering up your skills then anything. For a SAM, I would say STR, because you're going to be popping off WS after WS. However, for a THF, ATK is much more important (and besides, most of your WS are modified by AGI, anyway). Yes, these two are different ends of two extremes, but you can determine it for yourself.

er... no?

Dancing Edge 1.1875 5 DEX_30% CHR_40% accuracy
Shark Bite 2.00 ??? 3.00 DEX_50%
Evisceration 1.00 ??? 2.00 5 DEX_30%

STR always affects weaponskills. Those fabled stats people like to reference are secondary modifiers.

why would you use a acc ring with sushi, but wear str rings with meat?

Someone's never heard of an equipment swap macro. WTG champ!

well me, as a sam 75, usually in caedarva with sis kebabi I have str+50 acc+0 for my weapon skill, but acc+44 for tp gain, plus hachiman feet and hands, most of my ws's hit for about 1306ish (on an imp) was the top a hit not really too much but +50 is nothing im still a newb lol

for DOT like mnk war ninja go full attack and acc food for SAM etc what gets there main source of damage out of WS go with sats as that is where its needed and thf all so.
when you got the best sats/attack you can and got left over sats then go into attack/sats whats lower

haste > all. If you're meleeing in full str gear you're retarded.

its about attack or str in this topic :3

I use a balance of atk, acc and storeTP for meleeing and then go full str and acc for WS. I use 2 acc rings, swordbelt+1, hauby, AF2 boots and sushi most times. I also come as /war for the double attacks/berserk/warcry to help DoT high and WS fast. There is no way around not having a build set and a WS set of gear as SAM.

I haven't played with haste builds since I don't have b.haidate to get me on my way. But if you did like turban, dusk gloves, haidate you'd be doing fairly well in the speed department and still keep on your other attack and acc gear. Biggest issue with haste gear on SAM is that you can get TP faster by having the right amount of store TP. So you can either look at it as going for more WS or going for more melee swings with overall dmg output being very similar.

The laymans explanation is this,
WS is STR>attk
Meleeing is attk > STR

I believe Decidence still has the actual formulas on his site. There is a point of stacking STR for WS isnt as useful as Attk, but most people dont hit that point.

Balance accuracy and STR/attack to suit how fast you want to get TP and how much your normal hits are for. It's a question of how often you need to hit the mob.

If your skill chain partner is getting 150 by the time you get 100 you might need to lose some attack and gain some accuracy to make it optimal, or have your partner lose accuracy and gain attack so you both hit 100 at about the same time. Sushi and mithkabobs are a cheap and easy way to move them up and down to test (without spending millions in gear).

Depends on what you're fighting, gear and what your weapon mertis are as well. More attack based food/gear for EM and lower, test with more accuracy food and gear on T and higher. Do you have accuracy on your gear or are you all attack and STR or vice versa?

I just wear what I wear and carry sushi and kabobs and use as needed.

Well from my tests on drg I've found this to work very well. (sam is a little different but roughly the same idea)
I use attack foods like red curry
Tp gain: I focus on acc and haste, I still have some +STR and +att though
WS: I focus on STR and acc, still have some att. I use several peices of hecatomb(sam can't equip but you can get osode or JSE or something) oh and gorgets are nice.

I found a huge difference in damage when I switched over to attack food, both in ws damage(Penta Thrust) and mele hits, but it took me a while to get enough acc gear and polearm merits to make it work well.

When I used sushi, I used att and STR gear instead of acc gear but for drg it didn't seem as powerfull, but it was much easier to get nice high acc %.

Personally, I always was led up to believe that with weaponskills, both attack and the modifier affects the weapon skill's damage instead of the usual STr modifier. I.e:
I've been told that Tachi Enpi has DEX modifier??? (Dunno how true that is), but if you were to go DEX & ATK gear on a /equip macro for that weaponskill, would the STR & ATK outdmg that DEX & ATK gear?

THF's should focus on dex and/or agi (or STR if you're using Mercy Stroke) depending on which JA they're stacking with their weaponskill because they're getting a guaranteed crit from either sneak or trick, which allows them to cap or nearly cap their pDIF, which makes +attack on any SA+WS or TA+WS almost pointless. with dancing edge, being a multi-hit WS, some +attack might be a huge benefit as only the first (or first two, with dual-wield?) hits will have a guaranteed crit, the rest will not

SAM's should focus on STR primarily, any secondary modifiers next when using SA+WS, because..again, you're nearly capping your pDIF by critting your WS

multi-hit weaponskills like rampage, asuran fists, attack plays a more important role because you want to try and get your pDIF as close to the cap on the mobs defense as you can, so STR > Attack > secondary modifiers

as everyone else has said already, attack > str in TP gear

well i whould depend if you are able to hit mobs because why have so much atk/str if you cant hit the mob. Yesterday there was a debate in one my linkshells on which is better for ninja tp gain/ evading sh+1, kirin osode, or af+1

kirin osode: Def: 52 MP: 30 STR: 10 DEX: 10 VIT: 10 AGI: 10 INT: 10 MND: 10 CHR: 10 Vs. Light: 50

Scorpion Harness +1: Def: 41 HP: 20 Vs. Ice: -20 Vs. Water: 20 Vs. Dark: 20

Ninja Chainmail: Def: 41 HP: 15 VIT: 3 Enhances Dual Wield Effect
Physical Damage: "Blaze Spikes" effect

Which whould you pick
