I spent a little gil to see what would happen and am posting the results
for your benefit.


1st Attempt:
Purple Chip
Blue Chip
x2 Infinity Core

1) went to Horo. Ruins on darks day and got a RUNE ROD (100k)
2) went to Crawler's Nest on ??? day and got x8 Ceremet Chunks

then I waited for the Rune Rod to sell before buying more. It funded the following

2nd Attempt: (want to pinpoint the pattern...)
X2 Purple Chip
X2 Infinity Core

1) went to Horo. Ruins on Lightning Day and got a Lightning Cluster (2k)
2) waited for Lightsday and tried again and got x8 Ceremet Chunks.



I need to sell some stuff before making my third attempt on Horo.
I will try

x2 chips both on Darksday to see if the Rune Rod was indeed a fluke or is there a pattern like Gardening has...


If this generates enough interest, I'll try some more.
The experiment is expensive to me and I make money and loose money so keep that in mind.

Ok! I should mention that I assumed you all knew about the existance of the Strange Apparatus' or SA for this post. Also, that you knew to trade a chip and a core to the SAs.

I think this could either be completly random or it could be patterned and SEMI-Controllable like gardening seems to be.

I did some searching all over the net and think this might be a 'dead horse' issue because a lot of those posts were around feb 04'. Well, I started the game June 25th of that year so the info was new to me.

I'll come back and document any further attempts by me. From what I read and the very small amount of personal experimentation, I don't believe moon-phases are an issue. (maybe...)

Ive tried this a few times.

If you get lucky you get Rune items or Arcane Flowerpots which will give you a profit.

You can break even usually by getting adaman nuggets and cermet chunks

And you can lose gil by getting clusters and rune arrows.

I started to make a small profit before i got 3 clusters in a row. I haven't gambled with this since.

I spent 156 on chips n cores one day. I went to CN and thiswere the results. 1st try 8 cermet chunks
2nd Water cluster
3rd rune axe (Was 500k at time)
4th 2 Adaman nuggets
5th Rune sword (300k)
6th Rune bangle (10k)
The more chips n cores u buy the greater chance of obtaining a rune item. I have made a profit of about 1.6 mill in 4 trys... Only thing that sucks is the damn cermet chunks take up space n dont sell to fast.

yeah the ceremet is a pain to sell but you make some money back at
a small loss.


I bought 4 more core and 3 green 1 purple.

I did the 3 green in Ordelles of course:
x8 ceremet
x8 ceremet
x1 wind cluster ><
---all on Ice day--- (wind is weak to ice if that means anything for this)

I'm saving the purple for dark day to see if I score another Rune Rod.
