"You've done a great job raising this chocobo. It's abilities are at their peak."

Anyone else get this on Day 43?

Note: Substandard Discernment and Receptivity, Poor Strength and Endurance. No abilities yet.

Yes i got that message too.

Strenght: A bit deficient
Endurance: Substandard

Receptivity: Poor

I don't think it means that you can't raise anymore, or why not just force retire it after 43 days? You can still do care plans and manual care, as well as feed it carrots.

You got a point =P Well maybe just a warning that its close to retirement then ; ;

dunno, it probably just means you've been taking good care of the chocobo. Like Skaw said, why not just force it to retire at that time if you can't raise it anymore?

That actually sounds like a good theory

I was really thinking it meant that it had learned some abilities, but that was the first thing I checked. :(

Same for me. Day 43, with "Average" strength and "Substandard" Endurance.

I thought we had a full three months before mandatory retirement to raise their stats, but it seems that's not the case.

I've got to wonder if this is where breeding becomes a necessity, so that the next generation of birds have higher potential and can build on what we've started.

I plan to hold off on breeding Paprika until after the update, though. I want a shot at a green chocobo, so I may as well wait until it's a real possibility.

Breed ahead of time, get your egg. Trade your egg to a trainer 4 days before the update so it hatches afterwards.

I got this message too, only mine is poor in everything except receptivity where it is substandard. Good job raising it indeed... at least it makes me 400 gil when it acts in a play!

I'm guessing middle age. Probably care will be good for the next few days, and then slowly decline in effectiveness until it hits retirement age.

I'm guessing the same thing, actually. But, it seems as though I've done pretty good at 'A Bit' for both STR and END :D

Nah, that's okay. I'm going to keep working on Paprika's stats -- which I hope will continue to improve -- before I set him up for stud.

got same message
substandard str and end
poor rep and disc

anyone know if you can breed chocobo after false retirement?

Er... you can breed even when your chocobos retired. Theres nothing preventing that. Theres just an extra step in the process.

What, like get him some chocbo viagra?

Well, damnit ... I'm nowhere near where I wanted to be when I set mine out to receive the seed of every male chocobo on the block. -_-

I'm with Hali, though ... I'm going to wait until the update until I submit a new egg. I want the better stat raises, and I'm also bucking for green.

This part concerns me. I was hoping to boost my birds physical stats a little more. Left off at Standard STR, Bit Deficient END, and others poor

I saw some posts at Alla that confirm stat increases are still possible after they've reached their peak. I am relieved. It's probably just letting us know we're at the halfway mark before forced retirement.

I got the same message on Day 43. I contacted a GM because the damn thing had been asleep for 5 RL days (no, I didn't opt to rest it that long, just 1 day). I figured that because it didn't wake up at all before I got that message about being in it's "peak" it was "game over" for Little Caesar. It was participating in it's daily activities with the trainer, just wouldn't wake up to eat. Was strange too, he slept so long his health bar got down to damn near zero, then the next day its back to full while he's snoring away.

There's supposed to be a way to wake them up manually, GM alluded to the care plans having an impact. That's all he could say other than read the www.playonline.com community forums. Never found anything. Tried registering to mate, bought a "date" card, updated his stats card - checked again after starting that Lovesick Chocobo quest in Jeuno and no change. I retired the poor bastard. His only improvement was substandard for strength and endurance. /sigh
